Rowe Makes Big Move in NHRA Pro Mod Points After Semifinal Finish at Bristol Dragway

BRISTOL, TN – Danny Rowe, driver of the Agave Underground Pro Modified Camaro, parlayed his number-one qualifying effort at Danny RoweBristol Dragway into a strong semifinal round finish at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals and – more importantly – made a big move in the championship points standings.

After qualifying first with a 5.958-second, 242.76mph quarter-mile blast, Rowe met Clint Satterfield in the opening stanza. Rowe was off the starting line first and never waivered, moving on to the quarterfinals with a 6.004/243.59mph effort. Rowe then dispatched turbocharged frontrunner Eric Dillard before meeting with another turbocharged racer – Troy Coughlin – in the semifinal round. Rowe again had the advantage at the starting line, but couldn’t quite hold off Coughlin, who snuck around him at the 1,000-foot mark, taking the win with a 6.001/246.53mph pass over Rowe’s 6.028-second, 241.8mph run. Coughlin’s margin of victory was a mere 0.0123-seconds, approximately four feet.

Although shy of his goal of repeating his 2011 final round appearance at Bristol Dragway and this time scoring a win, Rowe made a tremendous move in the points – making the jump from ninth to fourth and straight back into title contention.

Alexander Progresses to Bristol FC Semifinals

BRISTOL, TN – Auto Service Plus Funny Car driver Blake Alexander added another highlight to his strong 2013 season this weekend Blake Alexander Bristol 2012when he reached the semifinals at the Ford Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway. Despite struggling in qualifying, the 24-year old Virginian turned on two win lights before falling to eventual race winner John Force.

Alexander’s best qualifying run of the weekend, 4.35, came during the Friday night session, but it wasn’t enough to place him in the top twelve to carry over to Saturday. His final pass during Q4 placed him No. 15, setting up a first round match with the reigning NHRA Funny Car champion, Jack Beckman.

“We were trying a few different things in qualifying. Sometimes you need to go slower to go faster, and obviously we went slower before progressing. We knew we were already qualified going into the last session on Saturday, so we just went up there seeing what the track would take with our set-up,” said Alexander.

Every NHRDA Pro Street truck across the nation now knows that the gauntlet has been laid down by Jarid Vollmer and the Bully Dog team.
