Looming Thunderstorms Won’t Stop the NAPA Thunder Nationals

UNION, SOUTH CAROLINA — In spite of an unusually rainy season that continues to disrupt their drag racing schedule, Team Aruba will travel to U.S. 131 Motorsports Park for the Mountain Motor Pro Stock Association (MMPSA) NAPA Thunder Nationals in Martin, Michigan. “We’re just hoping for a break in the rainy weather,” says team driver, Trevor Eman.

Among many others, Team Aruba has experienced mild frustration with this season’s frequent showers, enduring a race cancellation at the 2010 ADRL Dragpalooza VI in addition to hours of rain delays at the ADRL Georgia Drags VI. “We’ve been counting down the days to our next race,” Trevor comments. “We just hope that another race doesn’t get rescheduled.”

Cayuga opener ushers in 2010 PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series Tours

Both series to compete May 21-23 at the fabled drag strip of Toronto Motorsports Park

CAYUGA, ONTARIO – When Carl Spiering won the first Pro Modified Racing Association race held in May of 2005, a new era in Pro Modified drag racing was established.  Since that time, the PMRA has been a big part of the makeup on the Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, and has been a favorite facility with the fans and the teams.

Canada’s oldest drag strip, which began operations in 1954 and has continued to the present, has traditionally been the season opener and season closer for the PMRA. For several years the series championship was decided during the final event in the fall of each year since the PMRA started racing at the fabled Kohler Road strip in Southern Ontario.

And once again, this time for its sixth season, Cayuga will host the opening round of the 2010 PMRA season, with the Victoria Day Weekend Spectacular May 21-23. A record number of teams in both the PMRA and the Quick 32 Sportsman Series are expected to be ready to do battle on the quarter-mile drag strip.

The Luck Bank At ADRL South Georgia

Taking The Race One At A Time In ADRL Extreme Pro Modified

Hagerstown, MD – Our return to the fantastically prepared and well run Hardee’s session at South Georgia Motorsports Park was quite the exercise in futility for our Appalachia on Steroids Pro Extreme Camaro. And that, My Friends is a classic understatement! After what we thought was a very successful test session at Maryland International Raceway the Saturday before the Easter Bunny arrived, we found out was a major misconception.

The ADRL draws the first two pairs out of the hat for each class in the first round of eliminations which eliminates the “I ain’t going up first, are you? NOPE!” syndrome. So as our luck would have it John Stanley was the first car drawn first round. And this as well is not usually good for us! At the hit of the throttle for the first qualifier John’s usually able steed went about 20 feet and blazed the tires. Luck bank draw, NEGATIVE number one. Then on the second qualifier young Cody Barklage came out of the right lane across the center line on two wheels and missed the back and/or the driver’s door of John’s Camaro by a bit. The fact that Cody missed John at all put us even more in the Luck Bank at that point!

So it was on to the third qualifier on Friday night and our time to shine! Not a snowball’s chance in Hades’ on this day! John left with a lazy car under him and no power to do anything except to pedal it and try to get to the other end. And when it was all said and done we were left number 16 on the ladder of sixteen! We called that one a wash at the Luck Bank.

WCOPMA at Funny Car Fever

“Records drop after only the first event of the 2010 season”

Sacramento, CA – There was a lot of work being done to many West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association cars over this past winter, everyone was upgrading with expectations of the 2010 season to be a quick one. No one wanted to fall behind the 8-ball and after this first event it is safe to say everyone’s hard work, dedication and hard earned money was well spent. Two of the biggest anticipation’s were the debut of Bret Williamson’s new Alan Pittman built 53 Studebaker and Rod Pearce’s new Rob Matheis built 70.5 Camaro. Neither disappointed nor let down anyone’s (high) expectations.

When the gates opened Friday morning 12 cars pulled through to try and qualify for the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Associations 8-car field which included Dan Myers, Marc Meadors, Jay Diedrich, Rod Burbage, Scott Oksas, Bret Williamson, Rod Pearce, Randy Kay, Jalil Jaber, Scott Bailey, Rich Zehring and Mike Leonard.
