The WCOPMA 2009 Season In Review, Plus a Look at 2010

Story by Steve Bunker
Earlier this month the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association held a banquet/meeting to put a wrap on the 2009 season and to start talking about their upcoming 2010 season. The turnout of attendees for the meeting was rather large and the banquet was a success. The top 8 drivers in points received a trophy and picture for their final finishing place in the 2009 points standings and Rod Burbage claimed his second West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association championship for the second year in a row. Coming in a close second place was Jay Diedrich who was followed by Randy Kay in third place. Rounding out the 4-8 spots were (in order 4-8) Lee Smith, Marc Meadors, Tim Henry, Terry Housley (driving for Ballance Racing) and there was a tie for the eighth spot between Scott Bailey and Bret Williamson.

Hinbest Racing Releases New Racing Video

ORANGEVILLE, ONTARIO (December 22, 2009) – Hinbest Racing, www.HinbestRacing.com, one of the teams that competed in the new Quick 32 Sportsman Series, has released a video to explain not only what the sport entails, but what the Hinbest team brought to the series.

“Our team message is an important one, we were trying to find a way to show people who knew nothing about drag racing what we do and who we are”, said team driver Michael Hinbest. “The result was having a team video produced, and the Hinbest Racing camp was busy racing and filming the last race weekend at Cayuga September 19-20.”

The new video can be found at the team website: http://hinbestracing.com/media.html

The video was produced by Brent Frazer from Bfraz Productions; he can be contacted at brentwfraser@gmail.com

A Racer’s Work Is Never Done

The Stanley & Weiss racing team’s season is over and the beautiful 1968 ADRL Extreme Pro Modified Camaro is stashed away in John’s garage in a bazillion pieces

It is in the midst of its updates for the 2010 racing season.

We have dismantled the car front to back, top to bottom, updating some things and fixing others that we found wrong here and there.

Then it will be off to Mike Janis’ “Jan-Cen Racing Engines” speed emporium in Buffalo, NY to get the block and crank checked and to have Joe Janis work his magic on the non hemi heads! We are not changing much of anything for the new season. We just want to correct the few anomalies we had at the end of the year. You cannot do well going out first round time after time! BUT our plan for 2010 is to go rounds and to make our way to a final and win a race if the racing gods decide to smile upon us and we have earned it!

Evans to Showcase Benefits of Waterless Coolant

Sharon, Conn. – Evans Cooling Systems (www.evanscooling.com), developer of the only waterless engine coolant, Evans Waterless Engine Coolantwill showcase the benefits of its revolutionary waterless cooling technology for high performance vehicles at the 22nd Annual Performance Racing Industry Trade Show, Booth #5713, December 10-12, 2009, at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Fla.

The Evans system was initially developed for cooling race engines to reliably increase power without the limiting conditions imposed by water-based coolant. Water-based coolant operates close to its boiling point and can ultimately lead to power loss from detonation or component failure due to pre-ignition in the form of piston damage, head gasket failure, or even cracked cylinder heads.

DragStory.com Launches Video ViZion Site!

A new adventure in video sharing!

When we started DragStory.com in June, we knew we would eventually add video in some form or another to the site.  After looking at a variety of options, we hit upon a new concept that allows us to embed video from many of the popular video portals like Youtube and StreetFire.  Once we built the site and tested the software, our attention turned to what videos to include on the site.

With as many great videographers as there are in the fast door car world and the massive amount of footage available, our task was almost daunting at times.  Eventually we decided to start with the thrills and spills of the 2009 season focusing first on the events we covered.  I spent a few days digging through YouTube to find as many good clips as I could.  I was astounded at the amount of footage available from this years’ races.  We ended up picking the best 27 videos we could find to start the site.  Never one to lay claim to another’s work, we have set up a contributor’s page to give credit where credit is due for the folks who spent the time to shoot and edit these great clips.  Without them, none of us would have the opportunity to enjoy there work.

Stop on by and hang out for a bit, we think you’ll enjoy your visit!  www.videovizion.com   …and if you know of any great clips from this past year we’ve over looked, please email us at editor@dragstory.com with the links and we’ll do our best to included them.

Team Stanley And Weiss Racings Finale’

DSC02031sm
After our failed attempt at a $20,000 payday at The Shakedown at Etown its time to sit back and look at quick snapshot of the 2009 season for Stanley & Weiss Racing.

It definitely did not start off well for the team and our brand new 1968 Tim McAmis Camaro that was purchased from, of all places, Racing Junk.com! Don’t laugh, this car is living, breathing proof that “The Deal” is out there waiting for someone to find it! All it takes is a stroke of luck, be willing to pay the agreed on price and have a friend out there in cyberspace to certify that it is what is professed to be! That must be followed up by an honest person willing to take your Benjamin’s!
