AL-ANABI RACING READY TO ROCK IN ROCKINGHAM

(9-11-2009) ROCKINGHAM, North Carolina – Considered the most prestigious stop on the National Guard ADRL tour, this weekend’s Flowmaster Dragstock VI at Rockingham Dragway promises to be the biggest, quickest and fastest event in the storied history of the ADRL’s five-year history. Throughout the 2009 season, there have been a number of performance marks set in the organization’s five professional categories, and at the forefront of those record setting efforts have been the Pro Nitrous superpower of Al-Anabi Racing. Yet there is no facility that lends itself to record-breaking runs more so than Steve Earwood’s legendary Rockingham Dragway; so when the two combine, Al-Anabi Racing and “The Rock”, it’s bound to be a historic occasion. The National Guard is ready to “Rock” at Rockingham!

The US National Guard Red Team led by Driver Josh Hernandez and Crew Chief Jim Oddy pulls into ADRL’s Dragstock at Rockingham.  Coming on the heels of a runner up finish at Hebron a few weeks ago with stellar times through out the eliminations, the Team feels like it has finally found the combination it has been searching for ever since the McAmis built ’57 chevy rolled into the shop in May. As Jim Oddy remarked, ” the combo looks good and it couldn’t come at a better time or place than here at Rockingham”. Jim goes on to talk about the history of Rockingham, ” I have been racing here for decades, Rockingham almost feels like my home boy. The track surface is always perfectly prepared and I love the atmosphere and the people. Continue reading

Doing Some Good in the Neighborhood

(September 9, 2009) It seems as though Glenn and Christy and their dragster never rest.  The division 7 racers are on a quest to bring smiles and help to some local non-profit organizations.  The first event was the “Surfest ’09” for the American Legion Post #291 on Balboa Island, California.  It was a car show/chili cook-off that benefited the post.  “The response was overwhelming” Christy said.  “Especially, when we fired it up for everyone” Glenn added.  (76)

The 2nd event they attended was the “Waves 4 Wheels” Chili cook-off and Car show for the Elks Club in Huntington Beach.  There were lots of beautiful cars and great chili too!  “Thank goodness I brought my Rolaids” Christy said.  “There were approximately 15 chili competitors and she tried about 5 different kinds.” Glenn stated (55)

The 3rd show was back at the American Legion Post #291.  It was called “Provide a Ride”.  This show was unique in that it brought the visually impaired together with bikers and allowed them to go on a short ride on Harley’s, and Honda’s, or whatever bike was available. “It was an awesome experience” said one of the riders to Christy.  Approximately 120 bikers showed up and 25 visually impaired riders, not bad for the 1st annual event at the Post. Janis’ Aeroquip Team Doing It Dirty Mo Style Before Dragstock VI

Elma, NY (September 9, 2009) – With Pro Extreme new comer Mike Janis seemingly having a secure spot in the top eight in ADRL’s Speedtech Battle for the Belts, one would think the veteran racer from New York would be content to head into the last points race of the year with everything status quo.

For this team the status quo is not an option. Continue reading

INDIANAPOLIS, IN (September 3, 2009)  – Only a handful of the sport of drag racing’s best ever can call the winner’s circle at the historic O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis familiar territory. For Mike Castellana, Rickie Smith and the Al-Anabi Racing Pro Modified team, the “Big Go” has always seemed to be a place where things simply come together; like they did just a year ago when Castellana took the NHRA Pro Mod Challenge victory, beating out Joshua Hernandez in the final round. Bush’s Bel Air Back In Action At Big Go

Elma, NY (September 1, 2009)  – Mel Bush and Driver, Tommy D’Aprile, are bringing their Jan-Cen Racing Engines prepared Bel Air out of retirement to compete in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge at the 55th Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Lucas Oil.

Tommy D’Aprile’s last ride in Mel Bush’s famous ’62 Bel Air was one of his wildest rides in the seat of a door slammer. Just past the 330 mark a four-link bracket tore from the rear housing, planting the four-link bar into the track as the momentum of the car forced the car to ride over it,  tossing the car in the air. Luckily for D’Aprile the car came back down on all four and has lived to fight another day. Continue reading

Bush’s Camaro Debuts With Positive Results

Elma, NY (August 25, 2009) – When Mel Bush commissioned Dan Page to build his new ride it was just that a ride for Mel himself. With recent health issues pulling Bush from the driver seat and the off season switch to ADRL competition Bush made the decision to build the car as a lightweight Pro Extreme machine with hired gun Tommy D’Aprile at the wheel.

The new Dan Page Race Cars built 70 ½ Camaro made its ADRL debut this past weekend at the ADRL Summit Racing Equipment Ohio Drags III and showed quickly that this car will be a force to recon with. Continue reading
