Danny Thompson, Mickey Thompson’s son and an accomplished racer and innovator in his own right, will present the details of his plans to complete the restoration of his fathers’ Challenger 2.5, building the fastest piston-powered car in the world. Thompson plans to exceed the existing internal combustion wheel-driven land speed record of 417.020 mph with a goal of more than 420 mph by the summer of 2012.
The Challenger 2 was Mickey Thompson’s innovative design to achieve his dream of building the fastest piston-powered car in the world. The fully restored vehicle in the form of the Challenger 2.5 using custom-designed Mickey Thompson tires represents Danny Thompson’s unfailing dedication to fulfill his father’s dream, honor his father’s memory and make motorsports history.
MICKEY THOMPSON INTRODUCES NEW DESIGN OF THEIR POPULAR ET FRONT TIRE

30061. The ET Front has traditionally been the tire of choice for drag racers when paired with the ET Drag tire. The tubeless ET Front is lighter, faster and narrower and offers more sizes to choose from.

Mickey Thompson NAMED OFFICIAL TIRE OF FRANK HAWLEY DRAG RACING SCHOOL

STOW, OH – Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels has been named the official tire of Frank Hawley Drag 
Racing School this year. Mickey Thompson continues to support the school and students by providing high performance tires and wheels for the drag racing vehicles used by the students.
School founder and instructor Frank Hawley has been using the Mickey Thompson brand at the school since 2003. Now celebrating 26 years, the school specializes in training drivers for drag racing.
“We love the consistent results we see with Mickey Thompson tires,” said Frank Hawley. “We use several of the different drag tires and sizes, and we select certain compounds for certain applications.

Stow, OH – One of the premier names in motorsports tires, Mickey Thompson, has returned to provide contingency 
awards in its support of the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA), the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike and Sled Series(PBSS) for 2011.
“Mickey Thompson is one of the top names in racing tires,” said Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS. “We are pleased to have them return for the upcoming season.”
Founder Mickey Thompson, who began to market racing tires in 1963, is best known for his exploits in off-road racing, but the Californian was an important player in the early years of drag racing, and was one of the first racers in the evolution of the modern dragster.
Mickey Thompson Teams Up with PR Factory Stores for Pro-Street 6 Second Bounty Program

STOW, OH – This year, Mickey Thompson has teamed up with Don Plesser and the PR Factory Store to create an 
exciting new program called the Pro-Street Six-Second Bounty. Through this special program, scheduled to begin April 8, 2011 at the Manufacturers Spring Cup event, the first Pro-Street competitor who achieves a six-second run in either the official qualifying or elimination rounds will earn the six-second bounty.
The program is simple. All Pro-Street competitors participating in the Manufacturers Cup Series and MIROCK Superbike Series races using Mickey Thompson tires and displaying the Mickey Thompson logo are eligible. The first eligible Pro-Street racer to achieve a six-second time in the qualifying or elimination rounds will earn a $3,000 cash award, 10 Mickey Thompson MCR2 drag tires, and a special commemorative Mickey Thompson jacket.
Mickey Thompson Returns as Contingency Sponsor at NHRA Heritage Series

STOW, OH – Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels returns to the funny car racing scene in support of 
NHRA Heritage Series racers at several upcoming Heritage Series events including the March Meet (Bakersfield, Calif., March 18-20) the Nightfire Nationals (Boise, Idaho, August 11-14) and the California Hot Rod Reunion, (Bakersfield, Calif., October 21-23).
Mickey Thompson motorsports staff will be on-site at each event to provide trackside support and service to the Heritage Series racers. In addition, Mickey Thompson will reward winning racers with $500, and event runners up with $200. This is considered to be an independent support program developed by Mickey Thompson for NHRA Heritage Series racers and is not part of a formal contingency awards program as defined by the NHRA.
