Tough Trucks to Battle at Mega Mopar

MILLINGTON, TN – Ram has been making some of the toughest trucks on the market for over 30 years, but which Dodge Ram truck is the toughest? At Mega Mopar Action on July 31-August 1, Memphis International Raceway will do its part to find out. One of Mega Mopar Action’s trophy classes will be the Tuff Truck battle, which pits the hardest working Hemi horsepower in a battle for dominance.
“This trophy race is one of the most fun to watch the whole event,” said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. “We get just about every Dodge truck under the sun in this race. We’ll have daily drivers, work vehicles and look for a few tow trucks like we had last year.”
MIR Changes Schedule to Beat Heat

MILLINGTON, TN – With the recent wave of dangerous heat expected to continue for the foreseeable future, Memphis International Raceway has changed its racing schedule for this weekend.
Saturday’s Summit Bracket Racing Series presented by COMP Cams with 6.0 and 7.0 racing event will be pushed back to later in the day. Gates will now open at 6 p.m. with time trials starting at 7 p.m. Sunday’s daytime bracket race has been cancelled.
MIR has shifted its weekend race schedule to later in the day in an effort to keep its racers safer. “We’re making this move in the interest of racers and our spectators,” said MIR Director of Operations Paul Cartwright. “Temperatures are supposed to be close to 100 degrees this weekend, and that’s without the heat index factored in. It can get brutal when the heat gets that intense, and it goes double when you are in the cockpit of a racecar with a fire suit and helmet on.

The July 31-August 1 Mega Mopar Action Series stop at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) is the perfect opportunity to show off a sweet ride or get some pointers on making that old Duster better.
This show has categories spanning the full gamut of the Mopar spectrum – from the classic muscle cars of the ’60s to trucks and vans to even a category for daily drivers.
Changes Coming at Street Warz
Monthly event tweaks to improve fan, racer experience
MILLINGTON, TN – Memphis International Raceway is making some changes to its monthly Street Warz program starting with the Friday, July 10 event.
The fundamentals of a night of no track prep, street racing simulation are going to stay the same the changes are being made with a mind to make the event more driver and fan friendly.
The changes coming to Street Warz are designed to make the experience better for both racers and spectators.
“We’re always looking to make our events better,” said drag strip Director of Operations Paul Cartwright. “These tweaks to the program that we’re making are going to be beneficial for both the racers and spectators.”
Foam Glow Discount Deadline Nears
Sign up for Saturday’s 5k at MIR for $20 through Wednesday
MILLINGTON, TN – There are just a couple of days left to register for the Saturday, July 11 Foam Glow Run at Memphis International Raceway (MIR) for just $20.
From now until Wednesday July 8, runners can purchase a standard registration for $20 or a VIP registration for $45. After the 8th, the registration fee goes up to $40 and $75, respectively.
Discounted registration for the Foam Glow 5k expires on Wednesday, July 8. So time is running out to register for this race for as little as $20.
“I’m told this race gets pretty wild,” said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. “This is the first time we’ve run this race at our facility and we’re excited to see the kind of fun Foam Glow brings.”
Mega Mopar Asks Racers to Pick Sides

MILLINGTON, TN – Charger or Challenger has been a debate among Mopar fans for decades.
Each side has its own racing heritage with legends like Richard Petty and “Big Daddy” Don Garlits or recent racers Matt Hagan and Jeg Coughlin Jr. taking a Charger or Challenger to victory lane time and time again.

MILLINGTON, TN – Summer has arrived and Memphis International Raceway (MIR) has a variety of events that run the full spectrum of high power entertainment.
“We have a lot great events lined up this summer,” said MIR VP and GM Pam Kendrick. “We have races and runs; concerts and car shows lined up. There’s definitely something on our schedule for everyone.”
The summer season kicks off this weekend with the big money bracket race, the $25k Showdowns. Drivers will have the chance to get their share of a more than $100,000 total purse with five races in three days from Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28.
