MUTT & JEFF PROMOTIONS – DAY 1 RESULTS

Beaver Springs, PA – For 50 years, Beaver Springs Dragway, located amongst Amish farmlands in central Pennsylvania, has hosted a number of big events, maybe though, none bigger than the seventh edition of the Mutt & Jeff Promotions big bracket race.

Built in 1971 as a 30-day wonder by “Beaver Bob” McCardle and his family, the track is now owned by Mike McCracken and his Zoo Crew Racing organization. When built, the order of the day was pick-up trucks, open trailers and other flat-towed race cars. Today, quite a bit has changed in that regard and for this weekend, the facility is stretched to its limits with motorhomes and stacker trailers carrying multiple race cars. A limited pre-entered field of 250 racers came to do battle for big bucks.

“We’re over the top excited to get this event underway,” says Mutt & Jeff Promotions promoter Paul Burruss earlier in the week. “With a great weather forecast, along with a great Mutt & Jeff staff along with the track’s staff, this is going to be great event.”

TIM MARKOGLU WINS SILVERSTATE REFRIGERATION 100K FRIDAY

BENSON, NC – Silverstate Refrigeration $100,000 Main Event Friday brought much more than the highest purse up for grabs during the RAD Torque Spring Fling presented by Optima Batteries at GALOT Motorsports Park.

The morning began with the Spring Fling Reaction Time Challenge where 25 drivers made a hit at the tree in hopes of putting some cash in their pockets before opening ceremonies. Josh Luedke, Shane Carr, Jake Woodring, Bradley Snowball, Brianna Lukhard, and Tony Meltvedt all let go double “O” and each of them were rewarded $100 cash on the spot.

As the early rounds progressed after 347 entries appeared in round one, co-promoters Peter Biondo and Kyle Seipel determined that time would allow them to bring back the 32 Door Car Shootout contested in years past. Silverstate Refrigeration immediately came on board to guarantee $10,000 to the winner of the shootout, and a $500 cash bonus to the best wheelie as determined by the Fling staff.

RAD TORQUE SYSTEMS SPRING FLING PRE-RACE

Dunn, NC – In 2018, the Spring Fling brand of bracket racing made its debut at the gorgeous GALOT Motorsports Park in North Carolina. Now for the fourth straight year, hundreds of the best bracket racers in the country will be back to compete for big money and prizes.

Last year’s pandemic forced the Fling schedule to be juggled around a little, but nonetheless,    Jamie Holston, Josh Luedke and Troy Williams walked away as the big winners at last year’s Spring Fling GALOT event. In addition, dozens of other racers left with awards and prizes which totaled over $50,000 alone.

Two of the Fling events last year were done with pre-entry only. It would only take minutes at the time pre-entries opened for the Fling events to sell out. “Due to the ongoing pandemic,” says Fling co-promoter Pete Biondo, “we will not be implementing a pre-entry system for our 2021 Fling events.”

Josh McDaniel takes the Final Day Win at this years Fling Million

Dunn, NC – Today was supposed to be an open day for travel and/or a rain day. That all changed when low temperatures reached almost record numbers on Friday. Fling officials made the decision to extend the schedule and complete the last remaining $30,000-to-win race today.

Ten cars left going into the seventh round; Billy Leber, Dan Northrop, Mike Barber, Randell Reid, Josh McDaniel, Cory Mong, Shane Maddox, Robbie Hamilton, Duston Wurtz, and Jack Ostrowski.

Seventh round and the survivors were: Barber, Wurtz, McDaniel, Northrop and Leber.

Quarterfinals, Leber defeated Northrop, McDaniel over Wurtz and finally Barber on the bye. Semifinals and by virtue of his .001 RT, McDaniel earned the bye into the final, while Leber faced off with Barber, who has been on a tear of .00X reaction times including his perfect RT in the Spring Fling Reaction Time Challenge which earned him $1,000. With identical RT, it was Leber by only two-thousandths to put an end to Barber’s 2020 K&N Spring Fling Million presented by Optima Batteries.

Final round, a door car; the Corvette Roadster pseudo door car of Leber; against McDaniel’s dragster for $30,000, with lane choice going to McDaniel.

Scott Richardson IS the Spring Fling Million Winner at Bristol!

Bristol, TN – After a chilly night, what was supposed to be the final FTI Saturday $30,000-to-win race had the schedule somewhat altered yesterday when falling temperatures forced the postponement of Friday’s Million Dollar race.

“After the completion of the second round yesterday,” said co-promoter Pete Biondo, “we chose to err on the side of caution when track temperatures began to fall. Wanting to give our racers everything we promised, we made the decision to continue the event on Saturday, with some key changes.”

Saturday morning first brought the patented Spring Fling Reaction Time Challenge where seven racers earned some cash, the most notable being Mike Barber who scored a perfect reaction time (.000) which earned him $1,000. He was given a second chance and should he have recorded another .000, it would have earned him $10,000, a feat he was unable to repeat, but still receiving the grand. Six other drivers; Dan Fletcher, Allen Byrd, Ken Batchelor, Slate Cummings, Shane Molinari and Michael White; all recorded .00X reaction times to receive $100 each.

Next up was the first round of FTI Saturday’s $30-grander with the balance of that race to be completed on Sunday. And back into the third round of Friday’s Million Dollar main event with tough racing in every pair of cars.
