O’FALLON, MO – The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) is pleased to announce that its 2010 Racer Appreciation and Awards Gala will take place on Saturday Jan. 22, 2011, from 7-11 p.m. at the beautiful Crowne Plaza Hotel in Clayton, MO, just outside of St. Louis.

The semi-formal event will take place at the luxurious Crowne Plaza Hotel for the first time and will serve as a fitting end to what was a memorable and record-breaking 2010 ADRL season. The new venue provides a more central and cost-effective location for the ADRL’s talented competitors, teams and sponsors, and a special room rate ($79/night for standard room; $129/night for an Executive Tower room) is also available for the event.

All current ADRL competitors receive one free ticket to the event. Additional tickets can also be purchased this year for just $30, which is significantly lower than the $50 price tag for last year’s gala.

Team Titan’s Battle for the Belt

Courtesy of Tean Titan

Ennis TX – This past weekend Titan Motorsports participated in the ADRL LenMar World Finals as well as the 2010 Battle for the Belts in Dallas Texas. We pick up the action with the Battle for the Belts’ first round of action. In the first round, Gary White and the Titan Motorsports Scion had a bye run, since the Team finished first in points for the year. Although Gary didn’t race an opponent, he was still racing this round to qualify for the LenMar World Finals. In round 1 he ran a 3.954 at 187.76mph.

This run just barely beat out Todd Moyer’s first run winning time of 3.955, giving White the lane choice against him in round 2. In round 2 Gary cut a great reaction time and was able to just squeeze out Moyer with a 3.957 against Todd’s 3.990. In the third and final round it was Gary White vs. Dan Millen. Gary got a good jump, but Dan had the lead by halftrack, and took the win. Congratulations to Dan Millen and his team on the win!

RAIN HALTS ADRL FINAL’S, EMAN AND TEAM ARUBA FOCUS ON FUTURE

Courtesy of Team Aruba

ENNIS, TEXAS – Mother Nature put a damper on much of the racing season this year, including day two of the ADRL LenMar Motorsports World Finals at Texas Motorplex. Team Aruba tackled the track in 15 races this season, five in the MMPSA and ten in the ADRL, traveling over 25,000 miles donning the brilliant Aruba colors.

Early in the season in Valdosta, Georgia, Eman and the crew was awarded “Best Appearing Crew”, thanks to the amazing uniforms made possible by Greg Ozubo at Vandergriff Apparell. With a good team in place, Team Aruba gained substantial recognition and couldn’t have had the season that they did without the support of Bobby Hicks and Tommy Coon. Ven Eman, Trevor’s Father, kept the team on the track, lining up sponsorships and keeping the dream alive in a tough financial season.

Courtesy of ADRL

ENNIS, TX – Frankie Taylor had waited several long years in the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) for a moment like Friday. With the belt wrapped around his waist after winning his first ADRL World Championship in the Speedtech “Battle For the Belts” at the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals VI, the Pro Extreme veteran wasn’t about to wipe the smile off his face. “I can’t even describe what this feels like,” Taylor said. “This is great and it’s just been a great, great year. I can’t believe I get to top it off with this.”

Five other ADRL racers won World Championships on Friday at Texas Motorplex, and all joined Taylor as first-time “Battle For The Belts” champions.

Taylor got his title by beating fellow Houston-area native Joshua Hernandez in the finals, and joining Taylor in the winner’s circle was Burton Auxier (Pro Nitrous), Dan Millen (Extreme 10.5), Kim Morrell (Pro Extreme Motorcycle), John Montecalvo (Extreme Pro Stock) and Tyler Allen (Pro Junior Dragster). Taylor needed to be close to perfect to win the belt considering his matchups. He went 3.65 to beat Texas friend and rival Gaylen Smith, added a little more to chase down Quain Stott with a 3.64 at 208.59 mph in the semifinals and then topped himself in the finals showdown against Hernandez.

Diedrich Make ADRL Debut at LenMar World Finals

Courtesy of Firebaugh Express Racing

Firebaugh, Ca – Jay Diedrich and crew will be bringing their 1957 Chevy from California down to Texas to compete in the quickest and fastest of the American Drag Racing League’s classes, Pro Extreme. Diedrich is an avid racer on the west coast within many 1/4-mile associations but this will mark the first time he will compete on the 1/8-mile level and possibly, one of his biggest events he’s attended yet.

Alongside Diedrich will be Lonnie Houde with LHP Racing calling the shots on the tune-up. Houde is no stranger within the PX class as he has worked on, tuned and set up complete fuel systems for many racers who compete. Houde has been tuning for Diedrich all season and will admit it is a challenge getting the 2,800 pound car down the race track. The two of them go into Ennis looking for an experience and getting exposure as more ADRL events are planned for the 2011 season.

Pappas Ready for LenMar World Finals

Courtesy of ADRL

Ennis, TX – It was late on Tuesday and Spiro Pappas had just finished a long, exhausting day. But there was a hint of energy and a bit of a spark in his voice, and it was almost like he wasn’t ready for the night to end. Pappas, though, will be plenty pleased if his latest string of testing success carries over to Friday’s Speedtech “Battle For The Belts” at the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals VI.

After a season filled with struggles – some that were admittedly his own doing – Pappas, the No. 6 qualifier in the eight-car field, finally feels ready to defend his Extreme 10.5 2009 World Championship. The excited tone in his voice despite the late hour simply gave further evidence to that notion. “We were testing to see if things are back to where we want to be and it went better than we expected,” said Pappas, who tested Tuesday in Wisconsin. “Things went really, really well. “As a driver, I’m ready and my team is ready. Everything is coming together and it’s coming together at the prime time. (Tuesday) proved to us that we have what it takes to keep the belt one more year.”

Epic Battle for the Belts!

Courtesy of Titan Motorsports

Orlando, FL – The 2010 ADRL Battle for the Belts is almost upon us. It’s been a great year for racing ADRL XTF. All the cars have been very competitive throughout the season, and are getting quicker with every race. Team Titan has made some good progress this year too. The Scion became the first import to hit the 3 second mark (4th into Mickey Thompson 3 Second Club), and has been a consistent force at every race. So consistent in fact, that Team Titan is the season’s points leader going into the ADRL Battle for the Belts championship on October 22-23rd in Ennis Texas. With the points lead, Gary White and the Scion will have a bye run in the first round. Here is how the standings will begin:

The Battle for the Belts is an elimination ladder based on points accumulated during the season. The last car standing takes the championship. This means it is anyone’s race. Last year it was the #8 seed that won. In 2008, it was the #1 seed. This is definitely going to make things interesting in Texas.

Join Team Titan in Texas for what is sure to be an epic battle in XTF.
