LAS VEGAs, NV – In racing, there is only one language: Speed. This week’s Street Car Super Nationals VIII (November 15-18) at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a perfect example of the universal dialect of burning rubber and racing with the pedal to the metal until the finish line.
“We have racers from all over the United States, Canada, and the Dominican Republic,” said Mel Roth, president of the Pacific Street Car Association. “Regardless of where you’re from, what language you speak, everyone understands that this is drag racing and you go hard or you go home. We’re really looking forward to seeing all these different cultures brought together for this weekend’s Street Car Super Nationals.”
Five-time champion Coughlin vows to come back stronger in 2013

POMONA, CA – Five-time world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. has never finished a full season of drag racing outside the top 10 and 2012 will be no exception, with the JEGS.com/Mopar Dodge Avenger team earning the ninth slot in the final standings after Sunday’s quiet first-round exit from the NHRA Finals.
The ranking is the lowest of Coughlin’s illustrious career, excepting the two part-time campaigns he had in 1997 and 2006, although it was certainly one of the gutsier efforts the 68-time national event winner has ever put together. Just making the Countdown to One field in their first-year as a brand-new team was impressive, and kept Coughlin and crew perfect in the NHRA’s playoff era.

The two championships highlight the brand’s 75th anniversary year in which Mopar-powered drivers also captured 10 wins in each of the Pro Stock and Funny Car classes.
“All of us are very proud of Allen Johnson and Jack Beckman on bringing home two NHRA World Championships for Mopar,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “Allen’s impressive win at Pomona solidified his mark on his Championship and all the hard work behind it.
