BUDDS CREEK, MD – Racers fortunate enough to visit victory lane at this weekend’s Summit Racing Equipment 
Sportsman Spectacular at Maryland International Raceway will walk away with a special edition Ironman made specifically for this race honoring the 40 year history of the International Hot Rod Association.
Oh, and winners will also pocket a cool $5,000 for a win in each IHRA class.
Racing will be contested in IHRA’s regular Summit Pro-Am touring classes of Top Sportsman, Top Dragster, Super Stock, Stock, Quick Rod, Super Rod and Hot Rod, along with competition in Top ET, Mod ET and Junior Dragster. The race is open to all racers regardless of affiliation with $5,000 going to class winners, along with the special edition Ironman, national event contingency and a spot in the year-end Summit Racing Equipment Tournament of Champions for IHRA members.

ADRL To Feature Eight-Car Pro Mod Exhibition at U.S. Drags IV in Virginia

O’FALLON, MO – The world’s premier eighth-mile drag racing league is set to offer even more racing and even more standout doorslammer action.
The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) announced on Thursday that it will run an eight-car Pro Modified exhibition at its August event, the Speedtech U.S. Drags IV, which takes place August 12-13 at Virginia Motorsports Park (VMP) in Petersburg, Va.
The widely-popular Pro Modified class, which boasts a rich doorslammer racing history, will mix supercharged, nitrous and turbo cars into one incredibly competitive division, adding even more excitement to the ADRL’s fast-paced racing weekend.
“It’s going to be a major thrill for fans to be able to watch turbo cars racing against nitrous cars and supercharger cars on a level playing field,” ADRL Director of Competition Tom Grooms said. “There’s a lot of these cars around and the Pro Modified class has a long and storied history.
Maddern Racing Headed to the Windy City to Represent Div 7 Jegs Allstars

Joliet, IL – This weekend marks one of the biggest races of the year for all NHRA Sportsman competitor’s that compete regional within the Jeg’s All Stars Title Competition. This race is an honor for all of the racer’s as they represent their
respective divisions through out the country.
This is one of the few weekends where you combine names like Bill Reichert, Randy Meyer, Marty Thacker, Jim Whitely, Duane Shields, John Finke, Mike Manners and Chris Demke (to name a few) all vying for this coveted championship battle. This combines not only division versus division, but the biggest race within a race in the NHRA Drag Racing Series.
“We are pumped up for this race” noted Demke, “the best of the best are here in Chicago and we don’t always get to race against each other. Very few people have ever doubled up at this event, and we sure would like to add our name to that very small list.
Kawasaki rider wins PBSS at Nitro Nationals

CAYUGA, ON – There was a large contingent of motorcycles and snowmobiles on hand for the third Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products race at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park during the
Canadian Nitro Nationals, and Mike Konopacki set the pace, winning the event in his first PBSS competition.
Qualifying fifth on the Pro Bike side of the series, Konopacki, of Hampton, Ontario, met with Pro Sled winner James Miller of Orillia, Ontario. Riding his 1990 Kawasaki ZX, Konopacki ran an 8.51, 144.40 final over Miller, who fouled in the final round.
“All went according to plan,” noted Konopacki after the race. “We also caught some lucky breaks.”
Racing under Sportsman-style rules, the series is comprised of the Pro Bike division and the Pro Sled division. Racers from each division race within their division, and the top two eliminators go up against each other for the event title.
Davis Making First JEGS Allstars Appearance in Chicago

SUWANEE, GA — Ronnie Davis would like nothing better than to follow up his 2010 NHRA Division 2 Top Sportsman championship with a win this weekend in the 27th annual JEGS Allstars event July 9, at Route 66 Raceway, near
Chicago.
The JEGS Allstars competition is a unique event that crowns individual champions in 10 separate Sportsman racing classes, as well as an overall team champion. Racers qualify for the prestigious event by earning points in their NHRA home divisions during year-long battles in the following NHRA Lucas Oil categories: Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, Competition, Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster, and Top Sportsman.
“This is just the second year that Top Sportsman has been included in the JEGS Allstars event and it’s the first year I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of it,” said Davis, who will be competing in his 1963 Corvette powered by an 822-cubic-inch, nitrous-injected engine built by NASCAR’s famous Roush Yates Performance Racing Engines.
Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals to feature huge nostalgia Nitro Funny Car competition

GRAND BEND, ON – One is the quickest and fastest nostalgia Funny Car pilot on the east coast. The other, the best of the best in the west.
And next weekend in Ontario race fans will get a rare chance to see the two drivers go head-to-head to find out who truly is the fastest Funny Car driver in drag racing today.
“We had a great weekend in Edmonton last month winning in front of our hometown fans for the second year in a row and we look forward to bringing that momentum to Grand Bend,” said Tim Boychuk, driver of the “Troy Lee Designs” Pontiac Funny Car. “This will be the first time we have taken the Funny Car to Grand Bend with the IHRA and we look forward to going up against Peter Gallen and many of the other great competitors that will be in Ontario next week. We know we have a fast car so we will have a big target on our backs. I just hope we can put it all together and win another one for Canada.”
Inaugural Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular this Weekend at MIR

BUDDS CREEK, MD – It is the biggest sportsman drag race in IHRA history. And the racing world is starting to take notice.
“This is going to be a great event. It has a very good schedule, a very good format and the purse is just great. The IHRA did a wonderful job with this event,” said 16-time IHRA World Champion Anthony Bertozzi. “I think there will be a ton of cars out this weekend and I look forward to going up against some of the best out there.”
Many of the best drivers from across North America will be making the pilgrimage to Budds Creek, Md. this weekend for the inaugural Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Spectacular at Maryland International Raceway for the biggest sportsman class race in the 40 year history of the International Hot Rod Association.
Top Sportsman team takes victory at Canadian Nitro Nationals

CAYUGA, ON – For the third time in as many races, a new victor was declared in Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts drag racing competition.
Bob Bauer Jr bested a large field of Top Sportsman and Top Dragster entries at the Canadian Nitro Nationals at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park to claim his first series win.
“Our weekend was up and down a bit,” said the Elma, New York racer after the event. “But when we needed to be good we were.”
Driving his big-block nitrous injected 2007 Pontiac GTO in the Top Sportsman division, Bauer eliminated the Top Dragster of Billy White from Gadshill, Ontario in the weekend final. The final round appearance was White’s best showing to date.
