Jim, Annie Whiteley Dominate Vegas Regional

Las Vegas, NV – For the second year in a row, Jim and Annie Whiteley’s YNot Racing team swept the Las Vegas spring Regional, Jim in 
Top Alcohol Dragster and wife Annie in Top Alcohol Funny Car. Jim led the dragster contingent from wire to wire, setting low e.t. of all three qualifying sessions and two of three rounds of eliminations, and Annie came from the No. 2 spot to defeat Doug Gordon in the Top Alcohol Funny Car final with low e.t. of the event, 5.59.
Jim, who beat Chris Demke last season in a final that had to be rerun after something blew through the lights in Demke’s lane as they approached the finish line the first time, was a winner before he passed the Tree this time on Don St. Arnaud’s foul start. “I saw the red-light before my green came on,” Whiteley said. “It can mess you up sometimes, but I didn’t mind because we weren’t running as good as we did here last year.”
MJJ Racing Returns to Defend Modified Championship in 2013
CAYUGA, ON – Jarrod Kolne and the MJJ Racing Team will be returning to the DSE Automotive Sportsman Racing Series with the help 
of some new sponsors and a upgraded Moser Engineering Read End, in an attempt to defend their 2012 Modified Eliminator Championship.
Joining MJJ Racing this season is Tim Orser Residential Lift Services, who provide consulting, installing and repair services for various types of stairs, decks, and residential elevators.
Also joining MJJ Racing is Mike O Automotive in the Niagara Region and returning for their 6th season RJ’s Service & Performance in Hamilton.
With the new sponsorship, MJJ Racing’s schedule for 2013 will include all twelve DSE Sportsman Racing Series events, the entire Ontario Street Car Association (OSCA), and a few select other specialty events during the course of the season.
IHRA sets sanctioning record, Signs Atmore Dragway and Hobbs Motorsports Park
NORWALK, OH – With the recent signing of Atmore Dragway in Alabama and Hobbs Motorsports Park in New Mexico, the 
International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) is pleased to announce that it has set an IHRA sanctioning record with 105 tracks now a part of the IHRA member track family.
Both Atmore Dragway and Hobbs Motorsports Park are welcomed additions to the IHRA family as they join Divisions 2 and 4 respectively. With the addition to the two new tracks, the IHRA now sanctions 105 tracks in 29 states and territories, four Canadian provinces and New Zealand and Aruba.
Coughlin ready for more Vegas magic
LAS VEGAS, NV – Five-time world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. already has a long-running love affair with The Strip at Las Vegas Motor 
Speedway, and it’s one he plans on continuing this weekend when he’ll attempt to win two more times in his JEGS.com/Mopar Dodge Avenger.
“Our spirits are very high,” he said. “We love Las Vegas and we love the way the season has started for us. We’ve already been to two final rounds in the first three races and we’re less than a round worth of points off of the No. 1 ranking, so obviously this new partnership with Allen Johnson is going well. We’re ready to race.”
Coughlin teamed with reigning world champion Johnson in the off-season to give Mopar a two-pronged attack in the cutthroat Pro Stock category. Using J&J Racing horsepower, Coughlin reset both ends of his career-best numbers at the last NHRA race in Florida when he posted a 6.487-second run at 213.23 mph.

Brian Olson, Carl Robinson Tapped As Announce Team For 2013 X-DRL Season

announced its two-man announce team for its inaugural 2013 season on Tuesday.

West Coast Outlaw’s 2013 season looking good after first three events
Redding, CA – The West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association’s 2013 season shaping up nicely after the first three of eleven scheduled 
events, each of the three events producing different event winners making the early points chase close.
The WCOPMA season kicked off in Las Vegas, Nevada at “The Strip – Las Vegas Motor Speedway” on February 8-10. The big news prior to the event was west coast heavy hitter Mike Maggio was going to be debuting a new car, significantly lighter than his old car. The new car blues weren’t apparent as Maggio ripped off a 5.85/250 first round qualifying pass and improved to a 5.76/250 final qualifying pass to land atop the qualifying order. Sitting second was Scott Oksas and the Oksas Motorsports 2009 twin turbo Mustang with a 6.04 at a blistering 259 miles per hour!
