Hagan out Early, Stewart Red-Lights in Semi-Finals in Virginia

North Dinwiddie, VA – Even though he didn’t do as well as hoped, Tony Stewart leaves Virginia as the only Top Fuel driver that has advanced past Round 1 of eliminations in every event this season. He has advanced to the Semifinals in seven of the first nine events.  A noteworthy accomplishment!

Stewart’s Round 1 run of 3.872-seconds was low ET (elapsed time) of the round.

By advancing to the Semifinals at the American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals, Stewart qualified to participate in the #2Fast2Tasty Challenge at the next event, the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, where he will face a rematch against Shawn Langdon.
Hagan is the current track record holder at Virginia Motorsports park for both time and speed, a mark he set in 2022. The 3.853-seccond run set the track record for time. His Q1 run in 2022 set the track record for speed at 335.82 mph.

Virginia represents a home race for Hagan. The 52-time event winner is a native of Christiansburg, Virginia, located 190 miles west of the track. Continue reading

Tony Stewart & Matt Hagan Ready for Victory at the American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals

North Dinwiddie, VA – Coming into Richmond, Stewart is leading the Top Fuel championship standings, 76 points over Shawn Langdon. Hagan is fifth in the Funny Car standings, 109 points behind leader Austin Prock.

Stewart Extends Top Fuel Points Lead at Bristol with Semifinals Run in TSR Dodge//SRT Dragster, Hagan Falls in Another Close One in Funny Car

Auburn Hills, MI – For the second consecutive week in NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series Top Fuel action, Hall of Famer Tony Stewart lost by inches in his Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage Dodge//SRT dragster, but managed to extend his Top Fuel points lead with a semifinals finish, while Dodge//SRT racer Matt Hagan suffered another close defeat in the Funny Car division at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals.

Stewart, the Top Fuel champion at Las Vegas and Chicago this year, was seeking a sixth straight 2025 NHRA Top Fuel final round appearance at the legendary Bristol, Tenn., dragstrip after recording his first No. 1 qualifying position on Saturday with a 3.755. In addition, “Smoke” defeated former World Champion Doug Kalitta in the special Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge Saturday for his first Mission trophy.

Entering the Thunder Valley Dragway event, Stewart held the top spot in the NHRA Mission Top Fuel points standings and extend his advantage to 76 points after just missing by inches moving on to his sixth straight final round. In the semifinal, he took on former World Champion Steve Torrence with Stewart taking the starting line margin. However, Torrence nipped Stewart by 0.0025 seconds, less than a foot, with a 3.861 to Torrence’s 3.857 despite a cut left front tire. Torrence went on to win the Bristol event over Justin Ashley. Stewart and Hagan Head to SUPERGRIP NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals

Bristol, TN – The SUPERGRIP NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol (Tenn.) Dragway hosts the eighth event on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series’ 20-race calendar in 2025. Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) brings its two full-time entries – one in Top Fuel for Tony Stewart and one in Funny Car for 52-time Funny Car winner and four-time champion Matt Hagan.

Coming into Bristol, Stewart is leading the Top Fuel standings, 71 points ahead of Shawn Langdon. Hagan is fourth in the Funny Car standings, 95 points behind leader Austin Prock.

Stewart Reaches Fifth Consecutive Final in TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT Top Fuel Dragster At NHRA New England Nationals, Teammate Hagan Falls by Inches

Auburn Hills, MI – It is hard to imagine traveling over 330 miles per hour and losing a drag race by a few inches, but that was the story Sunday at the NHRA New England Nationals for Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) Direct Connection Dodge//SRT drivers Tony Stewart and Matt Hagan. Stewart advanced to his fifth consecutive NHRA Top Fuel final round and fell just short of a third 2025 win, while Funny Car driver Hagan exited in a close first-round battle,

Stewart, the driver known as “Smoke,” qualified second on Saturday at 3.694 in the TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT dragster and drove to the final round with wins over Rit Pustari with a 3.699, Justin Ashley with a 3.733 and current World Champion Antron Brown with a 3.711. Then, in the final round, Stewart posted a spectacular 0.049 reaction time off the starting line against Brittany Force’s 0.068, but Force ran over 340 miles per hour to nip Stewart at the finish line for the win. Force ran 3.694 to Stewart’s 3.720, a finishing margin of just 0.0074.

With Stewart’s fifth straight final round appearance, the NASCAR Hall of Famer, who has won NHRA Top Fuel races at Las Vegas and Chicago this year, extended his NHRA Mission Top Fuel points lead to 71 over Shawn Langdon as the 20-race series moves to Bristol, Tenn., this weekend (June 6-8) for the annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals. Epping, NH – The NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway in Epping, located just southeast of the state capital in Concord, hosts the seventh event on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series’ 20-race calendar in 2025. Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) brings its two full-time entries – one in Top Fuel for Tony Stewart and one in Funny Car for 52-time Funny Car winner and four-time champion Matt Hagan. Stewart earned his second Top Fuel win at  the prior event, the NHRA Route 66 Nationals in Chicago. He has advanced to four consecutive Finals.

Coming into Epping, Stewart is leading the Top Fuel standings, three points ahead of Shawn Langdon. Hagan is currently third in the Funny Car standings, 83 points behind leader Austin Prock.

Tony Stewart Continues Top Fuel Hot Streak with Win at Chicago, Scores Second NHRA National Event Victory in TSR Dodge//SRT Dragster

Auburn Hills, MI – Racing legend Tony Stewart continues to make motorsports history with his second 2025 NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series victory Sunday at the NHRA Route 66 Nationals at the wheel of the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) Rinnai Dodge/SRT Top Fuel dragster, while TSR teammate Matt Hagan drove to the semifinals in his TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT Hellcat Funny Car.

Last month at Las Vegas, Stewart, the NASCAR Hall of Famer, became the first driver to win pro events in four different professional racing disciplines, and the Indiana racer made his fourth consecutive Top Fuel final appearance Sunday at Route 66 Dragway by going up against veteran Justin Ashley in the NHRA Top Fuel finale.

Stewart’s crew, led by Neal Strausbaugh and Mike Domagala, gave “Smoke” the car to beat all weekend at Route 66 Dragway in Joliet, Ill., with a career-best 3.679 in qualifying and an impressive 3.777 in the final round against Ashley’s 3.818. Joliet, IL – The Gerber Collision and Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK near Chicago, Illinois, is the sixth event on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series’ 20-race calendar in 2025. Stewart, Hagan Advance to Finals in TSR Dodge//SRT Nitro Cars at NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte, Move to Second in Points

Auburn Hills, MI – Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) drivers Tony Stewart and Matt Hagan piloted their 11,000-horsepower, nitro-burning Dodge//SRT racecars to the final round again Sunday in the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Charlotte.

Coming off his first NHRA Top Fuel national win two weeks ago in Las Vegas, Stewart was seeking back-to-back triumphs in the unique four-wide racing format, and the NASCAR Hall of Famer came close to another victory in his TSR Direct Connection Dodge//SRT dragster when he advanced to the Top Fuel final round against Shawn Langdon, Justin Ashley and current World Champion Antron Brown.

Qualifying eighth in the 16-car field, the former NASCAR, IndyCar and USAC champion upset No. 1 qualifier Doug Kalitta in the first round on a “holeshot” starting line advantage with his 3.779 run, and Stewart returned in round two with a 3.760 to move to his third consecutive final round.

Stewart and Hagan Looking for Repeat 4 Wide Victory in Charlotte

Charlotte, NC – The American Rebel Light NHRA Four-Wide Nationals near Charlotte, North Carolina, is the fifth event on the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series’ 20-race calendar in 2025. Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) brings its two full-time entries – one in Top Fuel for Tony Stewart and one in Funny Car for 52-time Funny Car winner and four-time champion Matt Hagan. Hagan and Stewart each advanced to the Finals in their respective nitro categories at the previous event, the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas, with Stewart earning his first Top Fuel victory.

Coming into Charlotte, Stewart is second in the Top Fuel standings, 16 points behind leader Shawn Langdon. It marks his highest standing since sliding into the seat previously occupied by his wife Leah Pruett. Hagan is currently fourth in the Funny Car standings, 44 points behind leader Paul Lee.
