Leah Pruett and Matt Hagan Deliver Strong Showings in TSR Dodge Return at Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals
GAINESVILLE, FL – Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) drivers Leah Pruett and Matt Hagan kicked off the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing
Series’ 75th anniversary season with competitive performances at the 57th annual Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals, showcasing the team’s potential despite challenging conditions at Gainesville Raceway.
In Top Fuel, Leah Pruett made a highly anticipated return to competition after a two-year hiatus to start a family. The 12-time NHRA national event winner, who finished as 2023 points runner-up, qualified No. 3 with a best of 3.690 seconds at 329.10 mph in Q2 (earning 1 bonus point) and advanced to the second round. Pruett defeated Jasmine Salinas in round one with a solid 3.713 at 333.41 mph but fell to eventual finalist Doug Kalitta (3.764/332.34) in round two with a 3.871/318.47.
Pruett reflected on the weekend: “There were a lot of elements to the weekend. Reflecting on what I would consider the Florida marathon, and then the Gatornationals Gazoo, it was a hell of an effort by this Dodge team. Lack of effort was definitely not in the equation this weekend. The performance in qualifying, when it counted in Q2, definitely showed and it seated us third. … Continue reading

LEAH PRUETT MAKES HER NHRA DRIVING RETURN; MATT HAGAN READY TO START 2026 ON A HIGH NOTE
GAINESVILLE, FL – Tony Stewart Racing enters the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway with Leah Pruett back
in the seat of her Dodge Top Fuel dragster and four-time world champion Matt Hagan behind the wheel of the Dodge//SRT Hellcat Funny Car.
During Friday’s first qualifying session, Pruett, a 12-time Top Fuel national event winner, will make her first competitive pass since stepping out of the seat to start her family in 2023.
“To say this race is just like any other would be a massive understatement. I’ve been working for months to be prepared for this weekend. The anticipation is high. I’m going to have to try and lie to my body, tell it that it’s just another race,” Pruett said. “I haven’t made a side-by-side pass with someone in years, so I am very much looking forward to that, and the cadence of a race weekend. The competitive spirit inside of me has been reignited in a way that only driving a Top Fuel dragster with this team can do.”
Pruett is looking for her first victory at the Gatornationals. It will be the 11th time she’s competed in Top Fuel at Gainesville Raceway. After six days of testing at the facility, the Top Fuel favorite is well-poised for a successful weekend.
“The test sessions have been very promising in so many ways both with the car and the team performance wise. It’s shown me that some things I’ve been working on in the off season have worked, and others I’ve had to scrap and regroup, and continue to fine tune; all the way down to the last testing day,” Pruett said. “Gainesville and the Gatornationals has always stood for new beginnings for me. From the first time I drove a Pro Mod, to launching TSR Nitro, to now and my return to the seat. I’ve never won this race, but it would be a huge milestone in and of itself. Our goals will be the same as they’ve always been, good full pulls, low qualifying times, keeping my reaction times low, and turning on win lights.”
Tony Stewart Racing Funny Car teammate Matt Hagan is entering his 19th professional NHRA season looking for his fifth NHRA title crown. Hagan and his Dodge Funny Car team will be chasing a third victory at Gainesville Raceway. He picked up back-to-back wins in 2022, the first victory for the newly formed Tony Stewart Racing Nitro team, and 2023 and had a runner-up finish in 2018.
“The Gainesville Gatornationals is always a great event. It’s a big race and a cool way to kick the season off. It’s always usually sold out, and it looks like we’re going to have some great weather so I’m super excited about it and I can’t wait to get going,” said Hagan who has also secured three No. 1 qualifying positions at the facility. “There’s going to be 19 Funny Cars onsite so goal one will be to just get down the racetrack and get on the board. You need to qualify before you worry about winning the race and Mike Knudsen and Phil Shuler do a really good job of keeping that mentality. Having nineteen cars is no joke. There will be guys sitting on the sideline watching on Sunday and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure that’s not us.
“You never know what can happen with nitro in the tank, but I’m fired up to debut this Dodge//SRT Hellcat with its patriotic theme,” said Hagan who got his Alcohol Funny Car license at Gainesville Raceway. “I’ve got some great memories here. Getting my Alcohol license, getting the first win for Tony Stewart Racing here. I’m ready to get that Gator trophy with the Wally this weekend. I think we got a shot at it and I’m excited about it.”
The Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals kicks off with four rounds of qualifying Friday at 2:30 and 5:00 p.m. and Saturday at 12:35 and 3:00 p.m. Eliminations are slated for Sunday at 10 a.m. Television coverage of the event will be on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) on Sunday with a qualifying show at 10 a.m. and eliminations coverage at noon ET.
TSR SEASON PREVIEW: LEAH PRUETT RETURNS; MATT HAGAN LOOKS TO CONTINUE MOMENTUM
BROWNSBURG, IN – The two-car team of Tony Stewart Racing is set to kick off the 2026 Mission Foods NHRA Drag Racing Series season.
Leah Pruett returns to the seat of the Top Fuel dragster after a two-year hiatus, while four-time Funny Car world champion Matt Hagan is looking to carry over momentum from a second-place finish in 2025.
Both teams were back on the drag strip February 17-20 for NHRA / Professional Racers Owners Organization (PRO) testing at Gainesville Raceway in Florida, two weeks ahead of NHRA’s 75th Anniversary season-opener.
Pruett, a 12-time NHRA national event winner, has taken back the seat of her Top Fuel dragster just 15 months after giving birth to her first child, Dominic. For ten races Pruett’s dragster will feature a Dodge livery with their historical Fratzog logo. The Fratzog, uniquely named by one of their designers, was used by Dodge on vehicles between 1962 and 1976. For the remaining races, Pruett’s livery will rotate between Mobil 1, Rinnai, Rush Truck Centers, Rayce Rudeen and American Rebel. Continue reading
First Look: Tony Stewart Racing Drivers Pruett, Hagan
Share Sneak Peek of New Dodge Livery
Auburn Hills, MI – Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) NHRA Dodge nitro drivers Leah Pruett and Matt Hagan are turning up the heat this off-
season, dropping a sneak peek of their new Dodge race car graphics as they chomp at the bit to hit the strip in less than 30 days at the 2026 season-opening NHRA Gatornationals, scheduled for March 5-8 in Gainesville, Florida.
After a two-year hiatus for the birth of her and husband Tony Stewart’s son Dominic, Pruett returns to drag-racing competition with a new Dodge livery and an all-new TSR Dodge Top Fuel Dragster after the 12-time NHRA Top Fuel event winner just missed capturing the 2023 NHRA Mission Top Fuel championship.
“I’m very excited to get back in the car for the 2026 season,” said California native Pruett. “Last
year, I wanted to make sure I still had a passion to race after sitting out two years. After giving birth to Dominic and then being a mom for a year, I really wasn’t sure if I had the competitive level or should I sit out another year. So, we had a handful of tests. It was really the first time I was out of a race car since I began Junior Dragsters at age 8. But I’m ready to go.”
Stewart, the motorsports legend with series titles in NASCAR, IndyCar and USAC, replaced Pruett in the TSR Dodge dragster in 2024-2025, winning two events and capturing the 2025 Top Fuel regular season points championship. Stewart, the TSR team owner, will also be competing in the Top Fuel class in 2026, driving for Elite Motorsports. Continue reading
Hagan Finishes Second in Final Funny Car Standings, Stewart Fifth in Top Fuel after NHRA World Finals Weather Cancellation
Auburn Hills, MI – Mother Nature won the final race of the 2025 NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series Sunday when constant rainstorms
caused the cancellation of the In-N-Out NHRA World Finals at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. Dodge//SRT racer Matt Hagan finished second in the final Funny Car points standings and Tony Stewart took fifth in Top Fuel points.
A record rainfall in the Southern California area from Friday to Sunday restricted the professional classes from turning a wheel at the Pomona racing surface and more storms were predicted for the next three days. After exhaustive efforts by the NHRA Safety Safari and following close consultation with safety officials, NHRA made the final decision to cancel the race weekend in Pomona, Calif.
With the final event canceled, the NHRA world champions were determined from the penultimate race two weeks ago in Las Vegas at the Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals with Doug Kalitta securing the Top Fuel title and Austin Prock taking the Funny Car crown. Continue reading

Short Day for Stewart, Hagan at NHRA Texas FallNationals, TSR Dodge//SRT Racers Prepare for Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals
Auburn Hills, MI – The Texas Motorplex has been a very successful track for the Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) Dodge//SRT nitro team with
three wins in the last two years at the NHRA Texas FallNationals drag races, but Tony Stewart and Matt Hagan had early exits Sunday with first-round losses in Top Fuel and Funny Car, respectively.
It was an unusual outing for the TSR Dodge//SRT effort after Leah Pruett (Top Fuel) and Hagan (Funny Car) scored the first “Double Up” wins for TSR in 2023 at the Texas Motorplex, and Hagan took Funny Car honors again last year for his fifth NHRA Texas FallNationals title.
Stewart, the NHRA Top Fuel regular season champion, qualified eighth in the TSR Mobil 1 Dodge//SRT dragster at Texas, but the Motorsports Hall of Famer had a tough matchup with veteran Clay Millican in the first round of eliminations. Millican’s 3.700 bettered Stewart’s 3.774 to advance to the quarterfinals.
The first-round loss for Stewart moved him to sixth in the NHRA Mission Top Fuel points standings with two races remaining in the 20-event NHRA national series. The next NHRA national race is the Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals powered by Direct Connection at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Oct. 30-Nov. 2. Continue reading
