COUNTDOWN to a Championship – CHRIS VANBAALEN – 2015 TNT Super Series Fourth Place

WELLANDPORT, ON – Chris VanBaalen had an outstanding start to the 2015 season, staying near the top of the Chris VanBaalen - photog Mary Neffke points all year and earning himself a fourth place finish in the 2015 Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series.

VanBaalen from Wellandport, Ontario, started strong back on Memorial Day weekend with a number two qualifier and semi-final finish on Lancaster’s 1/8 mile. Then he backed that up the same weekend with a win on the 1/4 mile at Empire.

The Canadian continued with multiple top five qualifying efforts and many late round appearances. He finished the season with another top five qualifier and a semi-final effort at Empire, racking up 625 points in the championship chase.

“I have to thank my parents for their help,” said VanBaalen. “My dad is always giving me advice whether working on the car or at the track. I also would like to thank Matt and Sherry Devries at Matt’s Auto Service for everything they do to keep my car at the track running good.”

COUNTDOWN to a Championship – TOM COONLY – 2015 TNT Super Series Fifth Place

BLASDELL, NY – Tom Coonly had a slow start to the 2015 season. The Blasdell, New York driver suffered with first Tom Coonly - photo Mary Neffkeround losses and no qualifying points for the first two races.

But by race #3, he shook off the gremlins and Coonly started to go rounds. By the end of 2015, he was regularly seen well into eliminations. That earned the 31 year old 602 points and put him solidly in fifth place in the 2015 Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series.

“The car bails me out all the time,” said Coonly. “This season didn’t go as planned for me. I had some luck bracket racing and was lucky to sneak into the top five in this ultra-competitive series. It’s a great group of guys that keep you on your toes at all times.”

Coonly ended the season with one of the best side by side qualifying runs ever in the TNTSS. “The best part of the year was the last race where both Lance (Pinto) and I went 7.000 side by side and I got #1 qualifier.”

JJ Jablonski wins final race of 2015 while Paul Young takes points championship – TNT Super Series

Championship weekend cut short Saturday due to weather

NEW YORK – Season 9 in the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series wrapped up this past weekend with JJ Jablonski JJ Jablonski - photog Mary Neffkewinning Friday, Mother Nature taking Saturday and Paul Young holding his second TNTSS points championship.

The weekend, presented by Sam LoVetro Automotive, saw 31 cars at Lancaster Dragway on Friday night arrive set on kill. It was obvious Young was ready as he came out of the trailer and put a .500 light paired with a 7.009 ET on the board.

Into eliminations from the 16th qualifying spot, Jablonski got lucky in round one as he missed the tree but managed to push Harris Phelps under to a 6.95.

TNT Super Series wraps up 2015 season with double race weekend plus the ROC

Sam LoVetro Automotive presents championship weekend!

NEW YORK – The ninth season of the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series will crown its 2015 Champion this LoVetro - Rigbyweekend with two races to close out the season – Lancaster Dragway’s 1/8th mile on Friday night and Empire Dragway’s 1/4 mile on Saturday – PLUS the annual REVS Full Throttle Powersports RACE OF CHAMPIONS on Saturday at Empire.

With Sam LoVetro Automotive presenting championship weekend along with a very tight points chase, the competition is going to be as tough as it gets. Paul Young took the points lead at Cayuga back in June and hasn’t looked back. He sits with a 43 point lead over the team of Jablonski and Vitez. LoVetro himself is in third with VanBaalen and Surmatchewski rounding out the top five.

Paul Young defeats record field in TNT Super Series at Empire’s IHRA Pro-Am

GUARANTEED TO WIN event huge success – 19 drivers will race for free on Sept 18th!

LEICESTER, NY – The Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series rolled into Empire Dragway this past weekend as part Paul Young - photog Ron Rigbyof the IHRA Summit Pro-Am weekend. 38 cars staged for a little Saturday night 7.00 index shoot-out with Paul Young from Alden, New York ultimately taking the event win.

Presented by Roy & Tara Lister, the GUARANTEED TO WIN event drew a record car count for the TNT Super Series with 38 cars. That means that 19 drivers will get into the next TNTSS race for free on Friday September 18 at Lancaster.

“We knew the field would be strong with 59 Hot Rod cars in the Pro-Am earlier that day,” said Ted Barnes. “It’s been a long time since we’ve seen that.”

TNT Super Series to present remaining 2015 junior dragster events at Lancaster Dragway

LANCASTER, NY – The Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series has just announced it will be presenting the final five Halleenraces in the K100/Bauer Racing Junior Dragster Series at Lancaster Dragway. The series, which runs every Tuesday during the summer months, has five regular races left in the 2015 season.

Sharon Hughes, Lancaster’s Drag Program and Race Director has coordinated the Junior Dragster Program at the 1/8th mile facility for 21 years now. “I couldn’t be more pleased with the help from K100/Bauer Racing, Scott Jahren Paint and now Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Series. These racers have gone on to be track Champions in many classes including Street, Pro, and Quick 16.”

Pete Maduri Sr and Bill Elekes – TNT Super Series Winners at Cayuga

Both drivers eligible for REVS Race of Champions!

CAYUGA, ON – Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park hosted races 6 & 7 in the 2015 Joe’s Transmission Pete Maduri SrTNT Super Series this past weekend with Pete Maduri Sr picking up his first TNTSS event win and Bill Elekes getting his third. Presented by Kevin Orr Mechanical, the weekend drew 24 cars in the heat and humidity – the Density Altitude in the 3500’ range.

After qualifying number one with a 10.901, Pete Maduri Sr from Tonawanda, New York met up with Alex Lepp in round one and advanced when Lepp went .001 red. Then it was Wayne Sipos falling in round two. David Surmatchewski was next to go, also with a .001 red light – Maduri was ready though as he was .005.

TNT Super Series back to Cayuga Dragway for double this weekend

Kevin Orr Mechanical controls the climate this weekend!

CAYUGA, ON – Cayuga Dragway at Toronto Motorsports Park is the next stop on the Joe’s Transmission TNT Super Kevin Orr MechanicalSeries 2015 tour. July 25-26 will see the highly competitive sportsman drag racing series return to the historic quarter mile facility. Presented by Kevin Orr Mechanical, this weekend will host races 6 and 7 of the 10 race season alongside the DSE Sportsman Series Weekend.

The TNTSS championship points battle got a whole lot tighter after the last race with the top four all losing in first round. Paul Young is still your leader with 419 points and Chris VanBaalen is second at 383. Jumping into third after a win last weekend is the team of Jon Jablonski and Jason Vitez at 367. Fourth place is last week’s runner-up David Surmatchewski with 360 and Sam LoVetro Jr rounds out the top five with 358.
