A Lyon’s Share of Success
NMRA Race Wrap for 10th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL
Santa Ana, CA – It was a wild conclusion to the 10th Annual Nitto Tire NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal
Drag Racing. Over 600 race cars converged on Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, IL on Thursday to begin four days of euphoric competition between the two sanctioning bodies. Each series competes separately with three rounds of qualifying and elimination runs. Once the NMRA Keystone Automotive and NMCA Flowmaster event champions are declared through 23 categories, including both HP Tuners True Street and Gear Vendors True Street, the competition officials then pair up the winners with a corresponding category from the other series.
The Super Bowl Shootout isn’t an easy or equal crossover and this year we ended up with twelve pairings. The tiebreaker was the final match with the Strange Engineering Coyote Stock lining up with Chevrolet Performance Stock; the winner of that final pair would be rewarded with two points in the Shootout to eliminate any tie. Breaking right to the good stuff-NMRA won again and it came down to the final pair for the third year in a row! Drew Lyons commanded his Coyote Stock car to the finish line with a 10.45 at 127 mph to turn on the win-light against his competitor, Glenn Pushis. It was dramatic and Lyons was the hero of the day after Team NMRA battled back and forth before going behind by one point heading into the finals. It was practically a scripted finale between both teams with NMRA walking away with the Nitto Tire Diamond Tree ring for the eighth time in the past ten years.

Santa Ana, CA – The 14th Annual NMCA Muscle Car Nationals scheduled for June 18-21 at Lucas Oil Raceway at

Kentucky Thunder! NMCA Returns to Bowling Green
14th Annual Quick Fuel Technology NMCA Muscle Car Nationals takes over Beech Bend Raceway Park NEXT WEEKEND!
Santa Ana, CA – The 14th Annual Quick Fuel Technology NMCA Muscle Car Nationals is quickly approaching. It’s
been a year since the hallowed grounds of Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky have experienced the World’s Fastest Street Cars. As a result, Hot Rod City USA is ready to rock next weekend on May 14-17! NMCA KY event logo
One of the most competitive tracks on the NMCA circuit, Beech Bend Raceway isn’t just a track known for producing some of the quickest and fastest times, it’s also a favorite of many of the NMCA regulars who favor the pristine surroundings of the tree-lined Barren River and green vistas. However, Bowling Green, KY isn’t just about being pretty and serene, in fact it can be far from it, because once the racing begins the atmosphere will hardly be relaxed as racers battle it out not only for pride, but also for class championships. This event marks the halfway point of the NMCA Flowmaster Drag Racing Series season – in other words, if someone is going to make some noise in the title hunt in one of the 11-class championships, this is where that move will begin. It’s do or die in Bowling Green!
NMCA Racers Broke Records at Georgia’s House of Speed
Race Wrap for the 7th Annual Borla Exhaust NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals, Presented by Miller Welders
Santa Ana, CA – The 2015 Borla Exhaust NMRA/NMCA All-Star Nationals, presented by Miller Welders was the
place to be April 9-12 with hot heads-up and index racing to be seen and heard. Records were set, champions fell, and the action was intense here at the second stop of the 2015 NMCA Flowmaster Drag Racing Series.
In VP Racing Fuels Pro Mod, it was the turbocharged machine of Michael Biehle II setting the pace early on with a 6.05-second hit at 248 mph. The blower cars put up a valiant effort though, with Rick Sachsel getting through round one and Tom Dwyer driving his Chevelle to the final round. Biehle made it back-to-back NMCA wins after defeating Dwyer, 6.02/250 to 6.48/231.
Muscle Car Madness! 2015 NMCA Season Opener Race Wrap
Santa Ana, CA – There was lots of excitement going into the 13th Annual Ross Racing Pistons NMCA Muscle Car
Nationals that took place March 20-22, 2015 in Bradenton, Florida. With two new classes debuting and the addition of the local Outlaw 632 eighth-mile points race, the action during the NMCA Flowmaster Drag Racing Series season opener did not disappoint!
In VP Racing Fuels Pro Mod new rules for 2015 opened up the class to vehicles with roots or twin-screw superchargers. These alcohol-injected beasts with their raucous exhaust notes emanating from their zoomie headers certainly grabbed everyone’s attention in Bradenton. John Benoit of Vermont made the only five-second run of the weekend with his nitrous car and went number one in qualifying, but the juice didn’t last long. Michael Biehle II in his turbocharged machine and Robert Abbott in his supercharged ’69 Camaro charged to the final. Rumor has it that Abbott was nursing a serious illness all weekend, but he made pass after pass regardless. In the final race of the day, Biehle took the advantage off the line and his twin turbos hauled the mail on the top end with a 6.09/252mph winning performance to Abbott’s 6.17/228. Hopefully Abbott, Rick Sachsel, and Tommy Dwyer will bring their blower cars to Atlanta and make some more noise in the Pro Mod ranks.
