MWDRS Memphis Nationals Eliminations Postponed to Throwdown in T-Town

MILLINGTON, TN — Moisture on the racing surface prevented the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service from completing Saturday eliminations at the MWDRS Memphis Nationals at Memphis International Raceway (MIR). Eliminations will be contested at the next race on the series’ eight-race schedule, the spring Throwdown in T-Town, May 6-7 at Osage Casino & Hotel Tulsa Raceway Park.

“At the end of the day, it just isn’t safe in one lane,” said Keith Haney, series owner and founder, during a driver’s meeting Saturday night. “We have to think of all you guys. We’re racers for racers. We have to do what’s best for you guys – and for myself. I’m a racer too. I’m just as disappointed right now. But we worked our butts off. We did get qualifying in and we got a ladder set. We’ll finish it in Tulsa.”

The MWDRS Memphis Nationals, taking place in conjunction with MIR’s 35th annual Memphis Chevy Show, was one of the final major events to take place at the historic track before it closes later this summer.

Keith Haney After Redemption as MWDRS Season Starts at Xtreme Texas Nationals

TULSA, OK – After finishing third in the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service championship chase last season, Stroud Safety Pro Mod driver Keith Haney has had all winter to think about what could have been. Instead, Haney and his team have been working on improving their program to pursue the 2022 MWDRS Pro Mod championship.

Haney’s championship pursuit will kick off this weekend at the Xtreme Texas Nationals, March 18-19 at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas.

“We probably should’ve finished second last year,” said Haney, the founder and owner of MWDRS. “My lights weren’t there, but they got better in the end of the season and now we’re ready to roll for 2022. I feel like we can take the motivation and what we did in 2021 and carry that over into 2022.”

After the MWDRS season finale in October last year, Haney’s Pat Musi-powered, Jerry Bickel-built “Black Mamba” Camaro went to tuner Brandon Switzer’s Switzer Dynamics shop in Denver, North Carolina, for a thorough offseason maintenance program.

Mid-West Drag Racing Series to Kick Off 2022 Season at Xtreme Texas Nationals

FERRIS, TX — It’s been a busy offseason for the Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented J&A Service and its racers, and they’re ready to see the results of their hard work this weekend at the season-opening MWDRS Xtreme Texas Nationals, March 18-19 at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas.

Headlining the Xtreme Texas Nationals are the series’ two quickest and fastest classes, Stroud Safety Pro Mod and J&A Service Funny Car.

In Pro Mod, which has been a part of the Mid-West series since its inception, the competition has become incredibly tight, with several different power adders and engine combinations competing at a high level.

“I’m almost nervous to see the competition this year,” said MWDRS Founder Keith Haney, who also races in Pro Mod. “Between all the new guys coming in and the racers who’ve been racing with us over the years, it’s going to be tough. Everybody has had time to get up to speed with our rules, which are so great that they’re being used at other races across the country. That’s a testament to Lonnie Grim and our tech team.”
