Mid-West Drag Racing Series Crowns Winners at Thunder in the Valley

Tulsa, OK – An adrenaline-fueled spectacle rocked the Thunder in the Valley event as the Pro Mods made their return to Thunder Valley Raceway Park after an almost 10 year hiatus.

In an exciting Pro Mod clash, Keith Haney emerged as the undisputed champion in the Stroud Safety Pro Mod category. Haney blazed through the eighth-mile besting his competitor, Steven Whiteley. The crowd cheered as Haney secured victory with a jaw-dropping time of 3.662 seconds, overshadowing Whiteley’s valiant effort of 3.794 seconds. Haney was coming off a MWDRS Runner-Up at the season finale at XRP and the recent XRP make-up race in Tulsa in May.

The Pro Mod Slammers category witnessed an epic showdown, with local favorite Aaron Wells beating Keith Goolsby.

In one of the most exciting displays on the starting line, the J&A Service Funny Car battle culminated in Steve Macklyn’s well-deserved win over Jim Whiteley. Macklyn left the line first, propelling him to victory. Both Steve and Jim suffered mechanical issues, but Steve prevailed due to his starting line advantage. This was the teams’ first Funny Car victory. The excitement was visible on the starting line as his sons, Mark and Ryan Macklyn, long-time friend Jerry Ostler, and new-to-the-team tuner Jeff Pierce celebrated the victory. This also was the first Funny Car victory for Jeff Pierce, who has two MWDRS Pro Mod Championships to his credit.
