MWDRS Sadden of the loss of Steve Wells

TULSA, OK – The @Summit Racing Equipment @Mid-West Drag Racing Series is very saddened by the loss of Steve Wells today. Mr. Wells was a staple at every single race that you saw Aaron, wife Charity and kids Tyler and Kenzie attend.

Series Founder Keith Haney recalls “The very last race we all were at, Aaron beat me in the finals. Of course he heckled me because I had a .1234 light. Aaron won Pro Mod and daughter Kenzie won Sportsman Juniors. We are devastated right now. All eight years of the series, they were all there as a family.”

“The last race of the year is always special. Teams get together, celebrate, hug, share memories”, states Event Director Ellen Eschenbacher. “This last day of the season at XRP was no different but it stands out because both Aaron and Kenzie drove their cars from the Winner’s Circle back to the pits. Everyone in the pits cheered as they went by. The smiles in their pits were tremendous. It was a great way to end the season.”

Haney Wins 2023 MWDRS Pro Mod Title

TULSA, OK – It came down to the last of eight events in the 2023 Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series presented by J&A Service, when veteran driver Keith Haney sealed the deal Oct. 21 at Xtreme Raceway Park on his second MWDRS Pro Mod championship.

Haney, who also is the founder and owner of the MWDRS, went into the event holding a slim five-point advantage over second-place Steven Whiteley.

After qualifying third, Haney did his job Saturday afternoon, driving his nitrous-boosted “Black Mamba” 2019 Camaro to a 3.65-seconds win at 205.48 mph over Tony Strachan in the opening round of racing. Meanwhile, second-place starter Whiteley left 13-thousandths of a second too soon, negating a 3.66 pass that would have advanced him past Aaron Wells, who was forced to shut down early.

“It is very surreal, I guess you could call it, but it was a hard-fought battle all the way to the finish,” Haney said after clinching his second Pro Mod championship and third MWDRS season title after doubling up in 2018 as the Drag Radial and Pro Mod champions.

Tulsa, OK – The Summit Racing Equipment Mid-West Drag Racing Series completed a double-event at World Wide Technology Raceway, shaking up the Championship points.

“We knew early on that Saturday in July that a significant storm was coming. We told the racers after the first round, listen for updates and when it gets close, pack up quick. Sure enough, we had high winds and torrential rain, with even the track suffering some damage”, states Series Founder Keith Haney.

The July event, that had completed qualifying and first round of eliminations, resumed action in Stroud Safety Pro Mod.
