FireAde pro Larry Morgan goes for second straight win from No. 12 spot

SONOMA, CA – Fresh off a stirring victory last weekend in Denver, FireAde Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan will be Larry Morgan - Sonomagunning for two in a row at the NHRA Sonoma Nationals on Sunday at Sonoma Raceway.

Morgan beat Allen Johnson in the final round of the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals last Sunday at Bandimere Speedway after a long staging duel that ignited NHRA fans. Morgan’s confidence is high enough that he believes he can win back-to-back races.

“I feel good about Sunday,” Morgan said. “If I drive well, there’s a good chance we’re going to win again.”

After thrilling Denver victory, FireAde’s Larry Morgan aims to sweep Western Swing

SONOMA, CA – FireAde Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan needs to pack one more item in his team’s hauler as it heads tLarry Morgan - Denver top endo California for the NHRA Sonoma Nationals this weekend at Sonoma Raceway.

“I’m going to go get a broom,” Morgan said with a chuckle. “I’m going to start using it.”

That’s because Morgan is now the only Pro Stock driver who can sweep the three-race Western Swing after winning in Denver last weekend.

“Boy, what an exciting weekend we had in Denver,” Morgan said. “Now we’re headed to Sonoma on a good note, and I’m looking forward to it.”

FireAde’s Larry Morgan is king of the mountain after Denver triumph

DENVER – Only a Herculean effort would have stopped Allen Johnson’s winning streak at the Mopar Mile-High Larry Morgan - Denver winNHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway, and that’s what FireAde Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan delivered Sunday, knocking Johnson off on a holeshot after a thrilling staging duel in the final round.

Morgan and Johnson sat in the pre-stage beam for more than 90 seconds before Johnson finally staged. Morgan was first off the line and held on for his second win of the season, snapping Johnson’s three-race winning streak here.

FireAde Pro Stock racer Larry Morgan ready to step up one spot in Denver

DENVER – FireAde Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan has had a lot of success lately, including a good qualifying effort Larry Morgan - Denverat the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals this weekend at Bandimere Speedway, but he’s ready to take one step up when eliminations for the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event begin Sunday.

“We were second in Chicago, we were the second driver to go 200 here, and we were second in qualifying,” Morgan said. “Hey, that’s pretty good, but I want to be first. I’m going try my hardest tomorrow to be first, that’s for sure.”

Morgan reached the final round at the most recent Pro Stock race, in Chicago, before falling to Allen Johnson. In Denver, he was the second Pro Stock driver to break the 200-mph barrier when he did it in Friday’s first qualifying session, and he ended up qualifying No. 2 with a top lap of 6.878 seconds at 200.20 mph that was .001-second behind Johnson’s pole-winning effort.

FireAde racer Larry Morgan brings momentum to Denver

DENVER – FireAde Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan carries a lot of confidence into the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Larry MorganNationals this weekend at Bandimere Speedway. Not only was he a finalist at the most recent NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series event, but he’s coming off a solid test by Gray Motorsports at the mile-high track last week.

“We have a good idea what to do from the test,” Morgan said. “We were pretty fast out there, so we’ll be fine. We look forward to going out there.”

Morgan joked that since Allen Johnson won in Chicago, the Dodge driver needs to return the favor in Denver, where Johnson has won three in a row and six of the last eight.

FireAde’s Larry Morgan blows into Windy City final round

CHICAGO – FireAde driver Larry Morgan continued his resurgence in 2015 by racing to the final round of the Lucas Larry Morgan - Route 66, finalsOil Route 66 NHRA Nationals on Sunday at Route 66 Raceway.

Morgan eventually came up short against race winner Allen Johnson, but Chicago marked his second final round of 2015 and improved his round record to 14-12. The Chicago final was the 35th of Morgan’s long career and his first in Chicago.

“Final round does sound good,” Morgan said. “Hey, we had a good weekend. We did learn some things, and I’m good with all of it. I wish we’d have won but we didn’t, so let’s go to the next one.”

Larry Morgan brings quick FireAde Camaro into Chicago eliminations

CHICAGO – After a stellar run in what turned out to be the final Pro Stock qualifying session, FireAde driver Larry Larry Morgan - Route 66Morgan is fired up for the Lucas Oil Route 66 NHRA Nationals on Sunday at Route 66 Raceway.

Morgan was second-quickest in Q3, picking up two bonus qualifying points, with a pass of 6.570 at 210.60 mph. The final session was canceled after a long rain delay, and Morgan ended up No. 9 overall.

“The car is killer,” Morgan said. “The run today we were second-quickest. Apparently we had our head in our rear end for the first two runs. Nah, we’ll be fine.”

FireAde racer Larry Morgan ready to win in the Windy City

CHICAGO – FireAde Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan is eager to continue his resurgent season during this weekend’s Larry MorganLucas Oil Route 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway.

After several years of struggling to win rounds in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, Morgan is now a threat to win races every week. He snapped a long losing streak in Charlotte earlier this year and races one of the fastest cars on the tour.

Morgan’s partnership with FireAde and technical alliance with Gray Motorsports has resulted in an uptick in performance in 2015.

Larry Morgan drives FireAde entry to Norwalk quarterfinals

NORWALK, OH – Larry Morgan breezed to a first-round victory against Vieri Gaines at the Summit Racing Larry Morgan - Norwalk, SundayEquipment NHRA Nationals today in Norwalk. Morgan’s FireAde Camaro, which qualified fourth on Saturday night, posted a pass of 6.578 seconds at 212.19 mph as Gaines coasted across the finish line at 102.49 mph.

Morgan faced Jason Line in the second round of eliminations, and his day at the track ended there. Line left the starting line first and lit the win light, 6.583 at 210.73 mph to 6.583 at 210.73 mph.

“It was good winning the first round,” Morgan said. “We were so optimistic on the setup going into the second round because the track was so bad — the heat and the surface were horrible. We made a good choice on what we did; it just killed the driver the way we had to do it.

Larry Morgan enters Norwalk eliminations fourth on the ladder

NORWALK, OH – Larry Morgan lives less than 90 minutes from Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk. It is his Larry Morgan - Norwalkhome track. The driver of the FireAde Camaro Pro Stock is confident of a good showing tomorrow in front of the hometown fans. He qualified a strong fourth this evening, at 6.549 seconds at 211.86 mph, just .43 mph off Erica Enders’ pole-winning pace. A win Sunday would mean a 12th career Pro Stock victory for the hometown hero.

“Qualifying ended up pretty good today,” said Morgan. “Today was probably the best day I’ve had. We hurt a motor last night. Thank God we caught it. I noticed the vacuum was down a couple inches. We changed the engine this morning. We ran good both runs this evening. I was really impressed with both runs.”

Morgan will face V. Gaines in the first round of Pro Stock eliminations Sunday.
