JFR building momentum as they head to the Kansas Nationals

GREAT MEMORIES AWAIT FORCE AT HEARTLAND PARK TOPEKA

TOPEKA, KS – This week Courtney Force is returning to one of the most memorable race tracks on the NHRA Mello CF_Traxxas Team_Yello circuit for her and her Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car team. The current Funny Car points leader rallied her way to a No. 1 qualifying effort at Heartland Park Topeka in 2014 along with her sister Brittany in Top Fuel. It was the first time two sisters sat atop their respective fields going into eliminations on Sunday. The youngest daughter of 16-time champion John Force then advanced four rounds to claim her fourth career victory and the 100th win for women in the professional NHRA ranks.

“At Topeka in 2014, it was one of the most memorable races for me as a driver in my career. Our team was coming off a final round upset the weekend before and came out strong in Topeka as No. 1 qualifier. I got to share that with my sister Brittany as she was No. 1 in Top Fuel. Then we had an outstanding race day and our Traxxas team took home the win, which also made it the 100th win for women in the NHRA. It was a proud moment to be added to a list of such talented women across the board. That win was very meaningful for me,” said Force.

“We’re racing on a hot track out here in Atlanta this weekend. Our Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro team laid down two great passes on the first day of qualifying today. The first run actually didn’t go as well as we had planned, even though we were the quickest car of that session. We picked up three points running a 3.97. We were looking to run a 3.94, but we had a problem with the blower belt right before the finish line. It slowed our speed down to only 305 mph, but we still picked up three bonus points so we were happy,” said Force.

QUALIFYING HAS JFR SET UP FOR SUCCESS AT SPRINGNATIONALS

BAYTOWN, TX – Courtney Force wrapped up Houston qualifying at the NHRA SpringNationals in the No. 3 Robert Hight - 2016 Houston, Saturday - Ron Lewisposition and drew a first round match-up against Bob Bode for race day. Her best qualifying pass was 3.915 ET at 320.66 mph in Q2 on Friday night when track and weather conditions were in their prime. The Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car driver picked up one bonus point for making the third-quickest pass of Q2 to nab the No. 3 starting spot.

“Our Traxxas team showed pretty good performance out here in Houston, qualifying in the No. 3 spot and even made a great run in the heat of the day. A lot of cars were struggling to get down on a 130 degree track out there. I think it’s the hottest track we’ve had all year,” said Force.

Force has qualified in the top four at the last five races. She has qualified in the top half of the field at every event so far this season and gone into race day with lane choice. She has only raced Bob Bode once in previous events; two races ago at the NHRA DENSO Spark Plugs Nationals at Las Vegas. She is 1-0 to the veteran driver.

The 27-year-old Traxxas Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car driver picked up one bonus point for making the third-quickest pass of the second session.

“We’re lucky we were able to get two qualifying sessions in today at Houston. The weather held off great. We got a pretty good crowd out here. Our Traxxas team made a decent pass on the first run. The car tried to pull me hard to the left and I made two minor corrections and it wasn’t doing the job so I tried to pull it a little bit harder and it pulled me hard to the right out of the groove so I had to get out of it early. It still put me in the No. 12 spot with that run.”
