DSE Sportsman Bracket Racing Series Returns for 4th Championship Season

Twelve Race, Six weekend Schedule set to hit Ontario Tracks in 2015

BRAMPTON, ON – The popular Canadian Sportsman Drag Racing Series will return to operate in its 4th DSE Championship season in 2015 running a Twelve Race, Six weekend tour that will see the series making stops at both Toronto Motorsports Park and St Thomas Raceway Park this summer.

The 2015 Season will kick off with the first three event weekends taking place at Toronto Motorsports Park with the 4th annual DSE Season Opener on June 6th & 7th, followed by the Inaugural Southern Ontario Nationals June 20th & 21st, and the 4th Annual Summer Nationals July 25th & 26th. August will see the series shift to historic St Thomas Raceway Park for the 3rd Annual Sportsman Nationals August 15th & 16th before returning to Toronto Motorsports Park for the final two event weekends with the 5th Annual Labour Day Championships on September 5th & 6th and the 4th Annual DSE Championship Finals September 19th and 20th.

NHRA Wally’s and Series Champions Crowned at 3rd Annual DSE Finals

CAYUGA, ON –  The sixth and final event weekend of the DSE Sportsman racing took place September 13th and 14th at Toronto Motorsports Dustin Taylor  Modified Eliminator WinnerPark, and with NHRA Nationals Dragster Wally trophies along with valuable points for those competing in the Points Series, the stakes could not have been any higher for competitors.

Saturday’s racing schedule was set to run points race number eleven for the Series as well as the NHRA National Dragster Challenge, however un-seasonably cold temperatures and heavy morning rain made the racing surface impossible to dry and be safe to race on.

With Saturday’s rainout, the National Dragster race shifted to Sunday for all categories including Stefko Racing Engines Super Gas. In the Super Gas class, Wayne Sipos lead the charge into Eliminations as the Number 1 Qualifier and worked his way into the final round where he would meet up with Super Gas newcomer Chris Vanbaalen.  Sipos would run closer to the 6.40 index in that final round; however, it would be VanBaalens better reaction that would get him there first for the win and the NHRA Wally.

Points Titles and NHRA Wally’s up for grabs at DSE Championship Finals

BRAMPTON, ON – Plenty will be on the line this weekend as DSE Sportsman Series competitors head to Toronto Motorsports Park for the 3rd Brian Bourne and John Kenny duke it out in Modified Eliminator ActionAnnual DSE Championship finals with both Season Points titles and NHRA Wally’s courtesy of the National Dragster Challenge up for grabs during the final event of the 2014 season.

Point’s chases are tight in most of the categories, with only a few rounds separating some of the top racers in the DSE Bracket Classes. However, the pressure will certainly be on as points racers vie for position in order to get their share of the $23,000 plus dollars in cash and prizes that are offered in the DSE Year End Championship.

Richards and Mccallum Take Home Prestigious Wins at Labour Day DSE Sportsman Series Event

CAYUGA, ON  The 3rd Annual Canadian Funny Car Championships saw a record number of racers make the trek to Toronto Mccallum Wins Jr Dragster Wally SaturdayMotorsports Park , with over 225 of the best Sportsman racers converging on the facility for a fantastic two days of racing, crowning multiple first time DSE Sportsman Series Winners as well as an Inaugural Abruzzi Transmissions All-Star Race Champion.

The Corriveau Concrete forming Supplies Jr Dragster competitors had one last shot an NHRA Jr Wally on Saturday to make up for the Rained out Jr Wally event from Saturday August 16th.  Twenty-two Jr pilots would take to the track vying for the NHRA hardware, and after four tough rounds of competition, the final would see 2013 Points Champion and former NHRA Jr Wally Winner Emily Ramundo looking to take on Kyle Mccallum who was in search of his first NHRA Jr Wally Trophy.

Inaugural Abruzzi Transmissions All-Star’s Race set to take place Saturday August 30th at Toronto Motorsports Park

BRAMPTON, ON – The top 16 Point’s racers from the DSE Sportsman Racing Series are preparing for a big Labour Day weekend Claude Losier (Near lane) Steve Ferstl  (Far Lane)_Showdown at Toronto Motorsports Park as they look to hit the track Saturday August 30th  for the First ever Abruzzi Transmissions and Converters All-Star Race during the 3rd Annual Canadian Funny Car Championships.

Having spent the first eight races of the Sportsman Racing Series season attempting to put themselves into a qualifying spot within their category for this race, the 16 racers will be looking to take home the $1000 to win cash prize as well the coveted All-Stars Trophy that will be debuted Friday evening at the DSE Sportsman Series Registration Trailer.

St Thomas Raceway Park Prepares to Host DSE Sportsman Nationals This Weekend

Brampton, ON –  Historic St Thomas Raceway Park located in Sparta Ontario Canada will host the DSE Sportsman Nationals Joe Passero Quick 16 Dragsterpresented by J&S Collision and Degroote-Hill Chevrolet-Buick GMC  this up coming weekend, as the DSE Sportsman Racing Series prepares to start the second half of their Championship season with points races number 7 and 8 slated to take place.

Entering into its second year on the schedule, the DSE Sportsman Nationals is  looking  to draw record numbers again in 2014 as Series Director Andrew Stirk hopes to build off last years successful inaugural event. “ 2013 was our first venture into Western Ontario and it proved to be a great one as we saw record numbers of participants in many of our classes including Jr Dragsters and Modified Eliminator.”  Stated Stirk.

New 2014 NHRA Ontario Provincial Championships Crowned at Toronto Motorsports Park

CAYUGA, ON  The Predicted weather forecast for the 3rd Annual NHRA Provincial Championships presented by Real Mortgage DSE Associates/ SteveHayward.ca would prove to be the only negative aspect of the entire event as the best Bracket and Index Drag Racers in Southern Ontario and Western New York battled under Sunny skies for two days at Toronto Motorsports Park to take home their very own NHRA Championship with the DSE Sportsman Racing Series.

DSEAutomotive.ca  Super Bike/Sled has seen the tightest points battle out of any of the DSE Championship Classes in 2014 with four riders being separated by only a handful of rounds. Saturday’s NHRA Provincial Championship final featured two of those racers with Points Leader Derek Dwyer facing off against former Points Leader Ray Philp. Dwyer would take a slim starting advantage but would run into problems down track allowing Philps to get around him for the win and the Championship. Philp would go on to win Sunday’s racing action making him the fourth different DSE Racer this season to sweep their class for the weekend.

DSE Sportsman Series Set to Host NHRA Ontario Provincial Championships

Brampton, ON   Sportsman Drag Racers all over New York, Ontario, Quebec and even Alberta will be converging on Toronto 2012 Super Pro and Quick 16 NHRA Provincial Champion Matt CostabileMotorsports Park this weekend as the DSE Sportsman Series holds not only its third of six events in the series, but will also host  the most prestigious NHRA Sanctioned event in Ontario, the NHRA Provincial Championships.

Designed to afford Local and Regional Sportsman Drag Racers the ability to compete for NHRA Sanctioned Championships without having to follow the Divisional or National tours, the NHRA State/Provincial Championships is single Race, Tournament Style Championship that is awarded to One Drag Racing facility in each State and Province in North America.

After hosting the Inaugural NHRA Ontario Provincial Championships in 2012, the event has returned to the DSE Automotive Sportsman Racing Series and Toronto Motorsports Park in 2014, and DSE and TMP officials expect this year’s edition to be biggest yet.

Dominating Performances Headline Joe’s Transmission Services Canada Day Spectacular Weekend

CAYUGA, ON –  Great weather coupled with perfect track conditions at Toronto Motorsports Park created the ingredients  needed for a fantastic weekend of close and competitive racing as DSE Sportsman Series racers were contending for NHRA Hardware in both the Summit Racing Equipment “King of the Track” program as well as the Jr Drag Racing League Challenge. Additionally Saturday night also laid host to the 1st Annual Mike Marshall Memorial Race, an event created to pay tribute to long time Mopar racer Mike Marshall as well as raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Hill Racing/ATI Performance Products Modified racers would be the first category to hit the track Saturday, with racers looking to take home the Saturday Main event win along with a spot in the Run-Off final for the NHRA Awards later in the day.  After 5 rounds of steller No box racing, two Chevy powered mustangs remained, first year racer Alex Lepp and his Small Block Chevy powered 1986 Mustang and the Big Block Chevy powered 1989 Mustang of Andrew Stirk. Lepp would take the head start dialed 10.94 to Stirk’s 10.00. However it would be Stirk’s starting line advantage that would allow him to push Lepp into a Breakout allowing Stirk to take the win and move into the Run-off Final
