New Look for Antron Brown this Weekend at zMAX
zMax Bound, DSR ready for the Championship Chase!
CONCORD, NC – After the third event of the NHRA Mello Yello Series, Antron Brown was first in points after winning the Top Fuel title
at Gainesville, Fla. Four races later, the reigning Top Fuel world champion won at Atlanta and was second in points.
The native of New Jersey and resident of Pittsboro, Ind., hopes a return to southern cookin’ helps kick-start his Toyota dragster tuned by crew chiefs Brian Corradi and Mark Oswald this weekend at the Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway near Charlotte.
The team, which won six titles last season, has been mired in a run that has led to first-round exits in 10 of 18 regular-season events including at the U.S. Nationals on Labor Day after a daring run the night before earned the team its second No. 1 qualifying position of the season.

Johnson will see who can produce the best burnout Wednesday on pit road of Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The 11 a.m. “Burnouts to the Playoffs” is a media event hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway and zMAX Dragway, which is the only racing facility that will have a “playoff event” in both the NHRA Mello Yello and NASCAR Sprint Cup series.
Schumacher will be in his 330-mph U.S. Army dragster; Johnson in his 200-mph No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet.
DSR Indy Report – Beckman Wins Traxxas Shootout
– Reigning NHRA Funny Car world champion Jack Beckman was as happy as he could be Monday leaving the U.S. Nationals considering
he did not win his first Mello Yello Series title of the year after 18 races.
But he got within a wisp of smoke from sending crew chief Todd Smith, assistant Terry Snyder and the Valvoline MaxLife/MTS Mail for Wounded Warriors team to the winner’s circle when he lost traction and lost in the championship round to Robert Hight of John Force Racing.
“It’s hard to complain but in drag racing there’s one winner and there’s one loser, and we had a chance to leave here as a double-winner.

Don Schumacher Racing has a short trip to the Big Go and it’s been a long, successful ride for the seven-team drag racing juggernaut as the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals marks the end to the 18-event regular season in the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.
The six-day U.S. Nationals, long known as the “Big Go,” starts next Friday evening for the professional categories at Lucas Oil Raceway, which is 2 miles from DSR headquarters in Brownsburg, Ind.
