World champ Brown wants momentum from Indy to help propel his Toyota dragster to fast start in Countdown near Charlotte

CONCORD, NC After the third event of the NHRA Mello Yello Series, Antron Brown was first in points after winning the Top Fuel title Antron Brown - US Nationals - Comp Plus - Roger Richardsat Gainesville, Fla. Four races later, the reigning Top Fuel world champion won at Atlanta and was second in points.

The native of New Jersey and resident of Pittsboro, Ind., hopes a return to southern cookin’ helps kick-start his Toyota dragster tuned by crew chiefs Brian Corradi and Mark Oswald this weekend at the Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway near Charlotte.

The team, which won six titles last season, has been mired in a run that has led to first-round exits in 10 of 18 regular-season events including at the U.S. Nationals on Labor Day after a daring run the night before earned the team its second No. 1 qualifying position of the season.

NHRA Top Fuel champ Schumacher, NASCAR Cup champ Johnson plan side-by-side smoky burnouts Wednesday at Charlotte Motor Speedway

CONCORD, NCSeven-time NHRA Top Fuel world champion Tony Schumacher and five-time NASCAR Sprint Cup world champ Jimmie DSRJohnson will see who can produce the best burnout Wednesday on pit road of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The 11 a.m. “Burnouts to the Playoffs” is a media event hosted by Charlotte Motor Speedway and zMAX Dragway, which is the only racing facility that will have a “playoff event” in both the NHRA Mello Yello and NASCAR Sprint Cup series.

Schumacher will be in his 330-mph U.S. Army dragster; Johnson in his 200-mph No. 48 Lowe’s Chevrolet.

DSR Indy Report – Beckman Wins Traxxas Shootout

Championship round loss at U.S. Nationals doesn’t ruin ‘pretty good weekend’ for Beckman, Valvoline/MTS team

Reigning NHRA Funny Car world champion Jack Beckman was as happy as he could be Monday leaving the U.S. Nationals considering DSRhe did not win his first Mello Yello Series title of the year after 18 races.

But he got within a wisp of smoke from sending crew chief Todd Smith, assistant Terry Snyder and the Valvoline MaxLife/MTS Mail for Wounded Warriors team to the winner’s circle when he lost traction and lost in the championship round to Robert Hight of John Force Racing.

“It’s hard to complain but in drag racing there’s one winner and there’s one loser, and we had a chance to leave here as a double-winner.

Beckman explodes to $100,000 Traxxas Shootout title; Brown edges Schumacher for U.S. Nationals Top Fuel pole

BROWNSBURG, IN The thunder generated by Don Schumacher Racing late Sunday afternoon during the penultimate day of the 59th Jack Beckman - Topekaannual NHRA U.S. Nationals far exceeded any boomers Mother Nature produced the day before.

First, Jack Beckman’s engine held up just long enough before it blew most of the body off the Valvoline MaxLife/MTS Mail for Wounded Warriors Dodge Charger R/T. Beckman used a starting line advantage to edge Cruz Pedregon at the finish line to win the $100,000 Traxxas Nitro Shootout for Funny Cars.

Storm shortens U.S. Nationals but delay helps Hagan to No. 1; DSR teammates Massey, Brown advance in Top Fuel Shootout

BROWNSBURG, IN A heavy storm late Saturday afternoon delayed completion of the second day of qualifying for professional DSRcategories in the NHRA U.S. Nationals, but a three-hour delay was worth the wait for hearty fans and Don Schumacher Racing at Lucas Oil Raceway near Indianapolis.
Racing resumed but was shortened after Saturday’s first qualifying session in Top Fuel was completed at around 4:40 p.m. A miraculous job by the NHRA Safety Safari put the track in optimum condition for the 8:15 p.m. Funny Car session. The Safety Safari, which was formed in the 1950s, is the first full-time team devoted to safety in North American motorsports.

Massey is No. 2 heading into defense of his Shootout title; Hagan leads DSR Dodge Funny Cars with No. 5 effort

BROWNSBURG, IN On a very hot, humid Friday evening for the opening day of the NHRA U.S. Nationals near Indianapolis, Don DSRSchumacher Racing’s Spencer Massey qualified second in Top Fuel with four qualifying sessions remaining over the next two days.
Massey, with crew chiefs Todd Okuhara and Phil Shuler tuning his Battery Extender Powered by Schumacher dragster, was in the last pair down the track and recorded a time of 3.837 seconds at 316.38 mph.

8th annual DSR Open House adds U.S. Army band, singer to Friday’s long list of features to raise money for Riley Kids

BROWNSBURG, IN- Musical performers often devote hours determining their performance wardrobe, but Corrin Campbell doesn’t DSRhave to waste time laying out what to wear before a concert.

She knows her ensemble never changes: Her daily work attire works just fine.

Sgt. Corrin Campbell will lead the Army Recruiting Entertainment Group band as lead vocalist, bassist and pianist when the group performs Friday during the eighth annual Don Schumacher Racing Open House at Brownsburg, Ind., that will benefit Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University and Camp Riley.

Jack Beckman Leads off the DSR Pre-Indy Report

Beckman adding unwanted drama to U.S. Nationals weekend, wants Valvoline/MTS Dodge to hit winner’s circle at right time
BROWNSBURG, IN – This year hasn’t gone the way reigning NHRA Funny Car world champion Jack Beckman and his Valvoline DSRMaxLife/MTS Mail for Wounded Warriors team expected.It’s not that they thought the Mello Yello Series’ regular season would be easy after winning the world championship last November, but they didn’t believe they’d enter the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals ranked seventh in points without an event title through 17 events and one race from the start of NHRA’s six-event Countdown to the Championship playoff.

Don Schumacher Racing has a short trip to the Big Go and it’s been a long, successful ride for the seven-team drag racing juggernaut as the prestigious NHRA U.S. Nationals marks the end to the 18-event regular season in the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series.

The six-day U.S. Nationals, long known as the “Big Go,” starts next Friday evening for the professional categories at Lucas Oil Raceway, which is 2 miles from DSR headquarters in Brownsburg, Ind.
