Leah Pruett Makes Her Dodge TSR NHRA Top Fuel Return After Two-year Hiatus

Teams Up with Four-time Champ Matt Hagan at Season-opening NHRA Gatornationals

Auburn Hills, MI – After a two-year hiatus, Dodge NHRA Top Fuel standout Leah Pruett is set to make a headline-grabbing return to competition, climbing back into her 12,000-horsepower Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) dragster for a highly anticipated season debut at the NHRA Gatornationals in Gainesville, Florida, March 5–8. Pruett rejoins a powerhouse Dodge TSR lineup anchored by four-time NHRA Funny Car world champion Matt Hagan.

“The 2026 NHRA season gives Dodge and Tony Stewart Racing another chance to show what happens when pure competitive drive and Dodge muscle hit the drag strip,” said Matt McAlear, Dodge CEO. “We welcome Leah Pruett back home to her Tony Stewart Racing Top Fuel dragster and four-time NHRA champ Matt Hagan back for his 19th year behind the wheel of a Dodge Funny Car. Both Leah and Matt, as well as team owner Tony Stewart, embody the attitude the Dodge brand stands for, and together they make this season one that will push our limits in all the right ways.”

Pruett, a 12-time NHRA Top Fuel national event winner, shocked the motorsports world in 2023 when she walked away from the TSR Top Fuel car that nearly took her to the 2023 world championship to start a family with husband Tony Stewart. Stewart, a NASCAR, IndyCar and USAC series champion and motorsports Hall of Famer, continued the TSR team’s Top Fuel success by winning two NHRA events (Las Vegas and Joliet). as well as the 2025 NHRA Top Fuel regular-season title. First Look: Tony Stewart Racing Drivers Pruett, Hagan

Share Sneak Peek of New Dodge Livery

Auburn Hills, MI – Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) NHRA Dodge nitro drivers Leah Pruett and Matt Hagan are turning up the heat this off-season, dropping a sneak peek of their new Dodge race car graphics as they chomp at the bit to hit the strip in less than 30 days at the 2026 season-opening NHRA Gatornationals, scheduled for March 5-8 in Gainesville, Florida.

After a two-year hiatus for the birth of her and husband Tony Stewart’s son Dominic, Pruett returns to drag-racing competition with a new Dodge livery and an all-new TSR Dodge Top Fuel Dragster after the 12-time NHRA Top Fuel event winner just missed capturing the 2023 NHRA Mission Top Fuel championship.

“I’m very excited to get back in the car for the 2026 season,” said California native Pruett. “Last year, I wanted to make sure I still had a passion to race after sitting out two years. After giving birth to Dominic and then being a mom for a year, I really wasn’t sure if I had the competitive level or should I sit out another year. So, we had a handful of tests. It was really the first time I was out of a race car since I began Junior Dragsters at age 8. But I’m ready to go.”

Stewart, the motorsports legend with series titles in NASCAR, IndyCar and USAC, replaced Pruett in the TSR Dodge dragster in 2024-2025, winning two events and capturing the 2025 Top Fuel regular season points championship. Stewart, the TSR team owner, will also be competing in the Top Fuel class in 2026, driving for Elite Motorsports. Continue reading

Hagan Finishes Second in Final Funny Car Standings, Stewart Fifth in Top Fuel after NHRA World Finals Weather Cancellation

Auburn Hills, MI – Mother Nature won the final race of the 2025 NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series Sunday when constant rainstorms caused the cancellation of the In-N-Out NHRA World Finals at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. Dodge//SRT racer Matt Hagan finished second in the final Funny Car points standings and Tony Stewart took fifth in Top Fuel points.

A record rainfall in the Southern California area from Friday to Sunday restricted the professional classes from turning a wheel at the Pomona racing surface and more storms were predicted for the next three days. After exhaustive efforts by the NHRA Safety Safari and following close consultation with safety officials, NHRA made the final decision to cancel the race weekend in Pomona, Calif.

With the final event canceled, the NHRA world champions were determined from the penultimate race two weeks ago in Las Vegas at the Dodge NHRA Nevada Nationals with Doug Kalitta securing the Top Fuel title and Austin Prock taking the Funny Car crown. Continue reading
