Hossler Gets Second Straight Win With Round Six Victory In Qatar

Courtesy of ADRL

DOHA, QATAR – Both Shannon Jenkins and Alex Hossler had their share of early-season troubles this winter in the Arabian Drag Racing League.

The latest example of how distant a memory that has now become took place on Saturday at the Qatar Racing Club (QRC) as both of the standouts won in their respective classes during Round Six in Qatar.

With only one race remaining before the 2010-2011 championship-deciding round on February 17-18, Hossler appears to be peaking in Pro Extreme. For the second straight race, he met Von Smith and again topped the talented driver, going 3.647 at 209 miles per hour for his second straight win.

“To taste victory after some of the misery we went through, it’s great,” Hossler said. “It makes it that much sweeter when things come together and we’re able to reap some benefits. The guys just work so hard.”

Two-Car Team of Hossler, Todd Looking Forward To 2011 ADRL Season

 Courtesy of ADRL

O’FALLON, MO – While he did not race a year ago, J.R. Todd spent plenty of time at American Drag Racing League (ADRL) events in 2010.

One of his usual stops was the pit of Pro Extreme driver Alex Hossler, where the duo talked, hung out and quickly became good friends.

That friendship turned into a partnership as they now form a two-car Pro Extreme team headed by Rob Flynn, Mike Guger and Al-Anabi Racing.

As teammates, the relationship has been just as fruitful and each has made quite an impact in the Arabian Drag Racing League, winning a combined three races. Todd, a former Top Fuel standout in the NHRA, has proven to be quick-learner in his stunning ’57 Chevy, winning two races, while Hossler won the latest race at Qatar Racing Club (QRC).

Matt Smith Prepping For Double-Duty In ADRL

Courtesy of ADRL

DOHA, QATAR – Matt Smith has long believed he was capable of being a standout driver in a car and not just on a motorcycle.

As he’s quickly proven in the Arabian Drag Racing League, the Al-Anabi Racing talent is also able to do both at the same time.

Smith, the son of legendary driver Rickie Smith, has been one of the biggest stories at Qatar Racing Club (QRC) over the past month for his efforts both behind the wheel of a Pro Extreme car and on his Harley-Davidson Pro Extreme Motorcycle.

The latest headline-grabber came on Tuesday when Smith went 3.57 at 212.47 miles per hour during testing in KH Al-Thani’s PX Camaro, following it up with a 3.58 at an even faster 212.60 mph on his next pass.

It’s the most recent turn of events in a span that Smith has thoroughly enjoyed.

Jenkins Banking On More After Runner-Up Finish In Round 1 In Qatar

Courtesy of ADRL

DOHA, QATAR – Shannon Jenkins will take a second-place finish for now, so long as the end result is different.

The Pro Nitrous standout has had enough of runner-up finishes in 2010 after taking second in the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) World Championships to Al-Anabi Racing teammate Burton Auxier.

That was enough motivation for Jenkins to come prepared to Doha, Qatar for Round One of the Arabian Drag Racing League, which took place last weekend at Qatar Race Club. He had his ’68 Camaro ready for the first of the eight-race series, earning the top qualifying spot and posting the best E.T. of the weekend in the class.

This title chase comes just a week after Smith and his team celebrated a Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series title. Just for a moment, Smith reflected on a spectacular season that included consistent runs in the 5-second range at more than 240 miles per hour. “I have to give credit where it’s due, and from start to finish this Barwa Racing team has given me an incredible race car,” Smith said. “We had a few trials and tribulations to deal with throughout the season, but this team’s commitment never waivered.

AUXIER HOLDS TOP SPOT; AL-ANABI LOOKING FOR PRO MOD CROWN IN VEGAS

DSC08931smLAS VEGAS, Nevada – In a season that has seen records fall as often as cars were raced, nitrous cars winning multiple events, and the quickest and fastest fields in the history of Pro Modified racing, Al-Anabi Racing is looking to add to the seemingly never-ending excitement by scoring the first world championship for a nitrous-assisted Pro Modified since their own Shannon “The Iceman” Jenkins sealed the deal on the Pro Mod Challenge crown in 2002.

Leading the charge for the nitrous Pro Mod powerhouse is Burton Auxier who has used unbridled consistency and top-tier performance to earn the No. 1 spot in the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Challenge points standings, albeit by a somewhat narrow margin (32 points) over Roger Burgess and Danny Rowe. Scoring a win earlier this season in Bristol at the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, Auxier has proven his Speedtech Nitrous/Reher-Morrison engine program has what it takes to run with his supercharged and alcohol burning counterparts, but is well aware of the challenge that lies ahead – especially in Sin City.
