Jenkins Ready To Hold Onto Records, Title At Round Eight In Qatar

DOHA, QATAR – Fresh off a Round Six victory, Shannon Jenkins’ wish list for Round Seven of the Arabian Drag Racing League included another win and more records.

It started out just as Jenkins had planned at Qatar Racing Club (QRC), but the final outcome was not quite the result he and his team had their eyes set on in Pro Nitrous.

Jenkins posted career-best times throughout the event and even momentarily held the E.T. record, but ultimately fell to Burton Auxier on a holeshot in the semifinals.

Amazingly, Jenkins’ short hold on the record came during the loss to Auxier, the 2010 American Drag Racing League (ADRL) PN World Champion. Jenkins went 3.787 to briefly nab the E.T. record, but Auxier was nearly perfect on the line and went 3.81 to advance to the finals.

DOHA, QATAR – Heading into the eighth and final race of the 2010-2011 Arabian Drag Racing League season, Khalid Al-Balooshi made another resounding statement on Friday to finish off a record-breaking Round Seven.

After watching his E.T. record in Pro Nitrous go momentarily to Shannon Jenkins, Al-Balooshi reached yet another stratosphere, going a breathtaking 3.781 at 199.76 miles per hour to beat Burton Auxier in the finals, re-set both ends of the world record and win his fourth race of the season.

“The air just got real good and we just decided to start laying on it and see how fast we could go,” tuner Brandon Switzer said. “The conditions were good and we came out swinging.

“I just can’t say enough about (Al-Balooshi’s) driving. He’s doing an awesome job and his driving today was spectacular.”

Smith, Jenkins, Millen Among Standouts During Round Seven Qualifying At QRC

Courtesy of ADRL

DOHA, QATAR – It was a pair of side-by-side runs that stole the show during Round Seven qualifying of the Arabian Drag Racing League at Qatar Racing Club (QRC).

With one coming in Pro Extreme between Matt Smith and Ali Aryan, and another in Pro Nitrous between Shannon Jenkins and Khalid Mohammed, a series of remarkable times were posted in Qatar on Thursday with this being the final race remaining before the championship-deciding event.

Smith went an incredible 3.593 at 211 miles per hour in Pro Extreme to take the top qualifying spot, while Aryan nearly kept up with a 3.62 at 207 mph to go to second in a fascinating side-by-side duel.

In Pro Nitrous, Jenkins continued his strong performance, backing up a Round Six victory with a career-best 3.803 at more than 197 mph to jump to No. 1. In the lane next to him, Mohammed went a personal-best as well with a 3.813 that puts him in third.

Jenkins Back On Track With Round Six Victory In Qatar

DOHA, QATAR – The way things started during Round Six at Qatar Racing Club (QRC), Shannon Jenkins figured it would be another nightmarish two days.

In the end, though, Jenkins displayed another vintage performance.

The Pro Nitrous legend recovered from more difficulty in qualifying and finally saw the results he had been waiting all winter for in the Arabian Drag Racing League, winning Round Six with a remarkable 3.83 at more than 195 miles per hour in the finals.

“It feels great to get the win here in Round Six, especially following a week of ups and downs like we had this week,” Jenkins said.  “I owe it all to my guys for all their hard work and to Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani for allowing us to be apart of the Al-Anabi Racing team.”

Hossler Gets Second Straight Win With Round Six Victory In Qatar

Courtesy of ADRL

DOHA, QATAR – Both Shannon Jenkins and Alex Hossler had their share of early-season troubles this winter in the Arabian Drag Racing League.

The latest example of how distant a memory that has now become took place on Saturday at the Qatar Racing Club (QRC) as both of the standouts won in their respective classes during Round Six in Qatar.

With only one race remaining before the 2010-2011 championship-deciding round on February 17-18, Hossler appears to be peaking in Pro Extreme. For the second straight race, he met Von Smith and again topped the talented driver, going 3.647 at 209 miles per hour for his second straight win.

“To taste victory after some of the misery we went through, it’s great,” Hossler said. “It makes it that much sweeter when things come together and we’re able to reap some benefits. The guys just work so hard.”

DOHA, QATAR – Records continued to fall at Qatar Racing Club (QRC) and Khalid Al-Balooshi continued to amaze.

With those themes dominating Round Six qualifying of the Arabian Drag Racing League on Friday, it was a day to remember in Qatar as the final three-week stretch of the 2010-2011 season started in electrifying fashion.

Al-Balooshi, already the points leader and winner of three races in Pro Nitrous, set the bar even higher on Friday, running a record-breaking 3.794 at 197.83 miles per hour to take his seemingly customary spot at the top.

Al-Balooshi also became the first driver in Pro Nitrous history to reach the 3.7 mark.
