ADRL
What Can Go Wrong Will Go Wrong…

Our friend, that fickle woman Ms Lady Luck appears to have deserted us. We survived the first races of the 2010
season with a lot of her magic. And after St Louis with the rained out Topeka race included we knew she was off and gone to help some other wayward soul. With our spare motor planted between the frame rails on the off weekend between Houston and St Louis we were ready once again to give our fellow ADRL warriors a run for their money. Or so we thought!
On our first qualifier John informed me that he had no oil pressure at the end of the burnout. So for the first time in our short ADRL career we pushed the car off to the side after John backed up through the water box. Strike ONE!
On our second attempt John had to pedal the Camaro when it started to light the tires at the top of low gear. Strike TWO!

Alex Hossler Wins ADRL Pro Xtreme at Hometown Track!

MADISON, IL – Alex Hossler’s first American Drag Racing League (ADRL) win 10 months ago ended with the Pro
Extreme driver crossing the finish line with his car on fire in one of more memorable ADRL finishes. In Hossler’s eyes, however, the Canton, IL native topped himself on Saturday during the Hardee’s Gateway Drags III at Gateway International Raceway (GIR). With more than 100 friends, family and co-workers looking on, Hossler was never better and it paid off with his second career ADRL PX win. His ’71 Camaro went a Saturday-best 3.69 at 203 miles per hour, beating Gaylen Smith in an entertaining final before a massive overflow crowd at GIR.
“(The 3.69) put quite the exclamation point on the coolest win I’ve ever had,” Hossler said. “I don’t know how I could have made it any better. “There is no race I would rather win. This is definitely the highlight of my ADRL career. This has been great, to share this experience with all the people I care about.”
Al-Thani Puts on a Show as He Wins Pro Xtreme

MADISON, IL — The day started well enough for Pro Extreme driver KH Al-Thani. It ended even better. With his full Al-Anabi Racing crew on hand, Al-Thani put on a thrilling show for them and the capacity crowd at Gateway
International Raceway (GIR), going five impressive rounds to win the previously postponed American Drag Racing League (ADRL) Hardee’s Independence Drags IV on Friday in Pro Extreme.
In the finals against Frankie Taylor, Al-Thani went an event-best 3.66 at 208 miles per hour to claim the win. “The real excitement was that we were able to invite our entire team down here,” Al-Thani said. “I had to do my best to show them what we do. “The more pressure there is, the better I get. I know how to cope with pressure.” Al-Thani has done it well in his short ADRL racing career, picking up his second win in just five ADRL races.
He wasn’t the only ADRL driver who reached significant milestones on Friday at the completion of the event that was postponed due to rain in early July. The eliminations made for a festive Friday at GIR, which should carry over to a memorable completion of the Hardee’s Gateway Drags III on Saturday.
The Orange Camaro Pro Mod “Car Magnet” Unscathed Outside, Hurt Inside

Hagerstown, MD – The second trip to Houston in 2010 for an ADRL race was most definitely a lousy experience! It was bound to happen to us sooner or later, the odds were in fate’s favor. The July journey to Texas started off just fine
but started to go wrong at the outset of the second day’s journey. While cruising along the highway of life in a two lane construction zone I hit a piece of steel in the middle of the road when there was no place to go and no way to avoid it. Luckily I didn’t have a blowout! At that time we didn’t! But I did down the road an hour or so. ON THE TRAILER! So out into the 105 degree heat I went and changed the tire.!
And then there was the racing itself. We had not yet qualified for the first Houston race and with everyone only getting one shot at it we failed to make it in! There went our qualifying streak we were so proud of! But we also had our car magnet facts reinforced yet again when Jason Scruggs ended up bowling for cones out of the right lane. And that was a close one yet again! We were all glad it was a matter of two experienced drivers paying attention or it could have been ugly! The orange car magnet was in the house, AGAIN!
Titan Motorsports Does the Texas Two Step
Coutesy of Titan Motorsports
Baytown, TX – As if running a double header weekend wasn’t going to heat things up as it is, the weather in Texas
decided to contribute in this department as well, bringing track temps as high as 150*F! The weekend’s festivities began with the completion of the canceled ADRL Dragpalooza VI from back in March. As things stood, we were to resume our #3 qualifying position ran in March, with all elimination races to count toward qualifying for the Texas Drags, to be held the very next day.
The first elimination round for Dragpalooza had Gary White lined up against Patrick Collins. The Scion spun off the line, and Collins shook. Gary tried to reel him in but left a rod on the track in the process, ending in a first round elimination right off the bat. Not exactly the result Team Titan imagined going into the weekend. But that’s racing.
Double-Win Weekend for Three ADRL Competitors

BAYTOWN, TX — For three American Drag Racing League (ADRL) drivers, winning once this weekend at Houston Raceway Park (HRP) wasn’t enough. For Pro Extreme driver Joshua Hernandez, one rousing victory in front of a
boisterous hometown crowd proved to be plenty.
After winning the ADRL Universal Technical Institute Dragpalooza VI presented by Safety-Kleen, which was completed at HRP on Friday after being postponed in March, Pro Nitrous driver Rickie Smith, Extreme 10.5 standout Billy Glidden and Extreme Pro Stock’s John Montecalvo all made it a two-win weekend by coming up victorious at Saturday’s ADRL UTI Inaugural Texas Drags.
Hernandez and Ashley Owens (Pro Extreme Motorcycle) pulled out the other two class wins on Saturday, with Hernandez and his ’57 Fight Me MMA Chevy bringing the crowd to its feet on several occasions.

BAYTOWN, TX — Frankie Taylor would have taken a win anywhere after waiting far too long for his second career American Drag Racing League (ADRL) victory in Pro Extreme.
But to do it at his hometown track in front of a huge following of friends and family meant that much more for the Houston-area native on Friday.
The “Mad Man” debuted his new ’05 jet black Corvette at Houston Raceway Park (HRP) for the completion of the ADRL Universal Technical Institute Dragpalooza VI presented by Safety-Kleen, which was postponed in March, and it made an immediate impact.
Taylor beat fellow Texas native Gaylen Smith in the PX finals, running a 3.76 at 200 miles per hour to get his second career win and one he won’t soon forget.

BAYTOWN, TX – With a rough couple of months of competition that included three consecutive first round losses hopefully in the rearview mirror, Charles Carpenter is looking for a turnaround, beginning with this weekend’s inaugural ADRL Texas Drags at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, TX.
“We’ve got a lot riding on this weekend,” Carpenter said. “Not only are we here to attempt to qualify for and race in the inaugural Texas Drags, but we’ve also got the eliminations from the rained out Dragpalooza event to be contested during Friday’s qualifying. What better place to try to right the ship than where we set new career bests in E.T. and speed last time we were here? We’re shooting to double up and bring two trophies home in one weekend.”
Carpenter is hoping getting back on familiar grounds will help him find the edge that has been missing over the last three events.
