Dragstory.com Introduces Event Text Messaging Service
BAYTOWN, TX – Always looking to be the innovator in live coverage, Dragstory.com will be testing a new text alert 
messaging system at this weekend’s American Drag Racing League event at Houston Raceway Park.
“We realize folks have other commitments during the many hours these events are running and may not be able to catch all of the coverage during the weekend,” stated Dragstory.com editor Mark Walter. “This is the perfect tool to help us keep folks as up to date as possible with the latest news and happenings at any event we cover.”
The initial plan is to send text messages when the classes are called to the lanes or there is any significant event such as a top elapse time or mph run. We will keep the messages to a minimum; just remember you are responsible for any charges by your cell phone provider.
Carpenter Trying for a Texas Two-Step in Houston

BAYTOWN, TX – With a rough couple of months of competition that included three consecutive first round losses hopefully in the rearview mirror, Charles Carpenter is looking for a turnaround, beginning with this weekend’s inaugural ADRL Texas Drags at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, TX.
“We’ve got a lot riding on this weekend,” Carpenter said. “Not only are we here to attempt to qualify for and race in the inaugural Texas Drags, but we’ve also got the eliminations from the rained out Dragpalooza event to be contested during Friday’s qualifying. What better place to try to right the ship than where we set new career bests in E.T. and speed last time we were here? We’re shooting to double up and bring two trophies home in one weekend.”
Carpenter is hoping getting back on familiar grounds will help him find the edge that has been missing over the last three events.

Round Three of PMRA Pro Modified Racing goes to Stawicki

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO – Mike Stawicki has made it known that he is the force in Pro Modified racing this season. The veteran driver of the G-Force Race Cars MSR Performance powered 1968 Firebird from Medina, New York,
qualified number one for race three in the 2010 Pro Modified Racing Association tour, and went the distance to win his first PMRA event of the year and the first IHRA Ironman of his career.
Stawicki beat former Alcohol Funny Car driver Paul Noakes of London, Ontario in the final. Noakes, who has settled nicely behind the wheel of the Noakes and Martin Racing 1963 Corvette, qualified seventh, and ran a stout 6.293, 223.28 final but it was no match for Stawicki’s 5.820, 253.28 victory run.
While Stawicki qualified number one, to win the Marydel Homes Qualifying Bonus with a 5.881, 252.05 lap, it was the New Yorker’s final run that set low ET and top speed during the IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals held at the Grand Bend Motorplex. Stawicki has been running in the five-second range since he set the PMRA Series record with a 5.803 at 255.15 during the previous event at the Cayuga Dragway.
Mike Stawicki Leads Pro Modified Qualifying at IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals

GRAND BEND, ONTARIO – After two days of qualifying at the IHRA Nitro Jam Nationals at Grand Bend, Ontario, PMRA Pro Modified driver Mike Stawicki leads the field into final eliminations on Sunday with his G-Force Race Cars MSR Performance powered 1968 Firebird.
Stawicki ran a 5.881-seconds at 252.05-miles per hour on Friday night to win the Marydel Homes Qualifying Bonus in round three of the 2010 Pro Modified Racing Association season.
Gary Irving of Toronto, Ontario, was second with a 6.169, 227.08, followed by Bruce Boland, Eric Latino, Vito Montesano, current Pro Modified Racing Association 2010 Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts and Patio Passport leader Derek Hawker, Paul Noakes and Jack Brohman.
Diedrich Heads to Bakersfield to run with the WCHRA

Firebaugh, Ca – The Firebaugh Express Racing team is hot off a win last weekend in Oregon and will now head to 
Bakersfield, California this weekend to run with the West Coast Hot Rod Association in the Pro Street class.
Normally Diedrich has his “outlaw” buddies Rod Burbage and Bret Williamson accompany him at the WCHRA events but both of those teams will be absent at the “California Nationals” and Diedrich will be representing the screw-blown entry’s solo.
Coming off what was one of the team’s best racing events last weekend (by getting their first Pro Mod event win and setting a new personal best ET at 6.11) they are going to carry that momentum into Bakersfield with them and look to secure their second event win. Diedrich believes his team has found a way to consistently run quick ET’s and go rounds. The bad luck has bit them all year long, hopefully the win last weekend has turned the tables and the team can finish out the season strong!
The Don Carter Motorsports team nearly doubles their WCOPMA points lead after Woodburn

Sacramento, Ca – Don Carter’s driver, Bret Williamson, is 3-for-3 in final round appearances this season while running with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association. During the July 10-11 weekend, Bret once again made it to
the final round at Woodburn Dragstrip to face Jay Diedrich.
The team traveled to Woodburn, Oregon chasing an engine problem. They worked with the fuel system and MSD timing boxes before the event and unloaded the car untested after the changes. On the first qualifying pass they made it down with a very soft 6.66. They adjusted the tune up for the second qualifying hit and ran another mid 6-second pass but dropped a couple cylinders during the run. On the third and final session they improved to a 6.42 which placed them in the number three qualifying position.
During Sunday’s eliminations Williamson was faced against Cecil Matthews in his 1955 T-Bird in the first round. Off the line Cecil took the early lead with a great .007 reaction time but by half track the Studebaker drove around Cecil and charged down the back half of the track to take the win with an improving 6.34.
