ENNIS, TX – After a disappointing start to the 2011 American Drag Racing League (ADRL) season, Jason Scruggs sure found a way to end it in tremendous fashion.

On the final drag race of the ADRL season, Scruggs put together a classic performance on Sunday, running a 3.604 at 208.59 miles per hour to knock off Frankie Taylor in the finals of the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals VII presented by Summit Racing Equipment at Texas Motorplex.

“We’re just thankful we’ve got a good car right now,” Scruggs said. “When we were down, everybody was helping us and I can’t say enough about all the people who helped us get back on track.”

The highlight-filled race served as a fitting end to a record-breaking 2011 season as well.

The PMRA Top Five for 2011 – Mark Nielsen – Number Five

Courtesy of PMRA

BRANTFORD, ON – Placing fifth in the Pro Modified Racing Association Marydel Homes Championship Point Award Series presented by Magnum Auto Parts, Patio Passport and Global Emissions Systems, Inc. for 2011 was long-time Series competitor Mark Nielsen. He noted that he would have preferred to have finished higher in the standings, but was upbeat about his season.

“Overall I’m pleased we finished in the top five,” noted the Brantford racer. We were hoping for better results, be more consistent, and be able to make some quicker runs.”

Nielsen qualified his Nielsen Motorsports 1968 Camaro Pro Modified at each PMRA race in the season, but suffered with mechanical woes during the year. His best showings were a pair of semi-final rounds in event two and event five for 2011.

Powering the Camaro in the G-Force Race Cars product is an ERD (Engine Research & Development) 526-cubic inch Brad Anderson (BAE) Supercharged Hemi backed with a Lenco three-speed transmission. A PSI supercharger sits atop the engine, which is fueled through an ERD fuel system. Randy Gronlund, Richard Ruysseveldt, Dave Ross, Natalia Kalivodova and Rachel Ross crewed for the team this season, whom he thanked for their efforts.

Hernandez and B1 looking for One-Two Combination in Dallas

ENNIS, TX  – B1 Racing Pro Extreme driver Josh Hernandez, the winningest Pro Mod driver in history, is anxious to add two more wins to his heavyweight resume this weekend in the ADRL Battle for the Belts and the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals VII at Texas Motorplex. In the past two seasons, Hernandez has been to the championship round in the Battle for the Belts, both times taking runner-up honors. This time, the Texas native is planning to close the season with a one-two knockout punch.

“It’s two races for one this weekend, and our goal as a team is to finish the season strong and show them what B1 Racing is all about,” Hernandez said. “We brought on the new Corvette late in the season, and without the chance to fully test, we struggled a little to get her into shape. Now we’re running great thanks to all of the hard work the whole team has put in.”

At the last race, Hernandez had his best finish of the year, taking runner-up honors and jumping into contention in the BFTB. Because he is in eighth place, Hernandez will face off against No. 7 finisher, hard-running Jason Scruggs in the first round.
