Jablonski Wins Rescheduled BRK Machine & Performance backed WNYSRA Race

Rochester, NY –  Multi-time Super Rod and Hot Rod champion, Jon Jablonski, is used to winning races, not to mention bunches of rounds of Elekes-Jablonski Final 8-24-2014acompetition.  So, one can understand why Jon felt a little out of sorts early this season as he struggled to get his Jason Vitez Race Cars ’67 Chevy II to repeat from one run to the next.  Jon was so frustrated that he literally removed his car from competition so that he could concentrate on testing to get the car to meet his performance expectations.

That strategy paid dividends just a scant few weeks after re-entering competition with a win at the Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association (WNYSRA) event at Empire Dragway, which was presented by BRK Machine & Performance of Alden, NY.

Cira Rocks the Competition en Route to WNYSRA Victory at Empire Dragway

Leicester, NY – Veteran Super Rod racer John Cira knows that the racing season is a marathon and not a sprint.  Even though Cira WNYSRA Race 2 Finals Cira vs. Parryopened the Western New York Super Rod Association (WNYSRA) season with a less than stellar first round loss, he knew there was no reason to panic.  While less experienced racers may have tried wholesale changes, Cira stayed the course with his “Rock ‘N’ Roll Express” 1968 Chevrolet Nova that has brought him success for well over a decade.  Doing so netted Cira his first victory of the season along with a $1,000 cash prize, a $100 bonus credit with S&W Race Cars, and a $50 gift certificate from Jiffy-tite Motorsports for winning the “Jiffy-tite Package Award.”

The day was not without its challenges for Cira though.  After the two rounds of qualifying were completed, Art Jones of Webster, NY found himself atop the qualifying list with a perfect 9.900 elapsed time (E.T.) on the 9.90 index, while our winner was mired near the bottom of the qualifying list at 18th in the record 20 car field.  However, Cira’s 9.888 E.T. really wasn’t as far off as his qualifying position would have had one think.  Regardless, his qualifying effort earned him a first round matchup with the third place finisher from the previous WNYSRA event, Matt Gregoire, in his gorgeous 1966 Chevy II.

“We’re thrilled to have Jiffy-tite on board,” stated Jason Oldfield, President of the WNYSRA.  Oldfield continued, “I’m a customer of Jiffy-tite myself, using their fittings on both my fuel lines and transmission cooler lines, and couldn’t be happier with their performance.  This new award will give other racers the opportunity to experience the outstanding performance of Jiffy-tite’s fittings first-hand.”

Jeff Gregoire wins WNYSRA Series Opener Presented by Damorie Construction

Leicester, NY – June 15, 2014:  When race day finally arrived on May 31st, it saw the largest contingent of Super Rod racers in over Jeff Gregoire2 years descend upon Empire Dragway for the inaugural Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association (WNYSRA) event presented by Damorie Construction.  When Jeff Gregoire of Elma, NY arrived with Jim and Jamie Stoneman’s 1993 Chevy S-10 pickup truck, many people probably didn’t give him much chance of winning given that he hadn’t raced at all in 2013.  However, Gregoire proved that for some, like himself, racing is just like riding a bike as he came out on top of a group of the best competitors from New York, Pennsylvania, and Ontario, Canada.

After 2 rounds of qualifying, the well-traveled racing team of Corinne & Brian MacMillan from Ajax, Ontario, Canada sat atop the qualifying order with their beautiful 1968 Camaro with a 9.905 elapsed time (ET) on the 9.90 Super Rod index, earning themselves the 10 point bonus for being #1 qualifier.   Gregoire found himself sitting in the number 9 position, which wasn’t exactly where he had hoped to start eliminations.  With lane choice going to the higher qualified car, Jeff figured that he’d probably be giving up lane choice more times than not.  But, as luck would have it, Gregoire ended up with lane choice in 4 of his 5 rounds of competition, which certainly didn’t hurt his chances on this day.
