S&W Race Cars Sponsors Western New York Super Rod Association

Rochester, NY –  The Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association (WNYSRA) announced today that S&W Race Cars S&W Race Carsof Spring City, Pennsylvania has agreed to become a major contingency sponsor of the burgeoning racing series.  As part of their support, S&W Race Cars will award a $100 credit to the winner and $50 credit to the runner-up, at all remaining WNYSRA events.  Drivers can accumulate their awards over time and spend them on the vast array of S&W Race Cars’ products and services.

John Cira and Kirk Parry, the winner and runner-up, respectively, of the WNYSRA Event #2 presented by Jan-Cen Motorsports, were the first winners of the contingency postings by S&W Race Cars.

Co-Founder of the Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association, Phil Harnden, stated, “We’re overjoyed to have S&W Race Cars on as a sponsor of the WNYSRA for the remainder of the 2014 season.  S&W Race Cars is well known as a supplier of the highest quality race cars and components.  So, we are very excited about the opportunity to present S&W’s craftsmanship to our competitors and fans.”  Harnden added, “I have competed and won with cars constructed by Scott Weney and the staff of S&W Race Cars.  So, I can personally attest to the high degree of quality found in S&W’s products.”

S&W Race Cars was founded in 1959 by Walt Weney in Spring City, PA as a speed shop in a small 15’ x 20’ foot basement.  During his spare time, Walt put his welding and sheet metal skills to use – first on his own car – then on his customers’ race cars.  Through his experience on the track, and in his shop, Walt honed the art of race car fabrication into a precise science and a full-time occupation.  In 1984, S&W purchased SRD Race Cars, which would enable S&W, already established as one of the country’s top dragster & funny car builders, to become a premier “doorslammer” chassis manufacturer, an area that had been an SRD specialty.  The acquisition of SRD’s patterns, jigs, fixtures, and machinery also allowed S&W to expand its product line, and become a major force in the mail-order chassis component arena.

Jill Canuso, Marketing Director of S&W Race Cars, stated, “We are very excited to be involved with the Western New York Super Rod Association.  If you visit the WNYSRA website, Twitter, and Facebook pages you will see that they are very well done.  We understand the commitment and effort it takes to attain this level of quality, so we knew immediately that they are dedicated to making the WNYSRA a success, which will obviously include meeting their sponsors’ expectations.  Thus, we were delighted to offer our special ‘Race Series’ contingency program to the WNYSRA, as we know the racers will appreciate and benefit from it.“

The Tread City Tire / Western New York Super Rod Association makes its season debut at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, Canada this weekend, Saturday, July 26th and Sunday, July 27th, for event numbers 4 and 5 of the 8 race series.  These races will be presented in partnership with the DSE Automotive Sportsman Racing Series as part of the NHRA Provincial Championships.  As such, a special payout will be in place both days with $1,000 to win with a minimum of only 9 cars, and the winner on Saturday will take home a prestigious NHRA “Wally” for their accomplishment.  Gates open at 9 am, with time trials for all competitors starting at 11 am.  Final eliminations will start at approximately 1:00 pm.  For more information, please visit the WNYSRA website at http://www.wnysra.com, or the DSE Automotive Sportsman Racing Series website at http://dseautomotive.ca/sportsman-racing-series/.
