Nothing but problems for the Dan Myers Racing team in Oregon

Coutesy of Dan Myers Racing

San Diego, Ca – Dan Myers got the long haul award as he drove 24 hours total to get from his home in Ramona, Ca (near San Diego) to Woodburn, Oregon (near Portland). He was the first Pro Mod team to roll in the gates and the first to leave…Sunday morning.

There were three qualifying passes scheduled for Saturday. On the first pass the team wanted to get from A-to-B under power to acquire some data for a race track they had no data for. They successfully made it down on the first pass with a 6.68, nothing to write home about but it was a starting place to go forward from.

On the second qualifying pass is where the problems started. Dan was on a low 6.40 or high 6.30 pass when he started to feel a vibration from the engine, which is never a good thing. He was quick to lift off the throttle but not quick enough as a rod had exited out of the side of the block.

The Don Carter Motorsports team nearly doubles their WCOPMA points lead after Woodburn

Story/Photo by Steven Bunker

Sacramento, Ca – Don Carter’s driver, Bret Williamson, is 3-for-3 in final round appearances this season while running with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association. During the July 10-11 weekend, Bret once again made it to the final round at Woodburn Dragstrip to face Jay Diedrich.

The team traveled to Woodburn, Oregon chasing an engine problem. They worked with the fuel system and MSD timing boxes before the event and unloaded the car untested after the changes. On the first qualifying pass they made it down with a very soft 6.66. They adjusted the tune up for the second qualifying hit and ran another mid 6-second pass but dropped a couple cylinders during the run. On the third and final session they improved to a 6.42 which placed them in the number three qualifying position.

During Sunday’s eliminations Williamson was faced against Cecil Matthews in his 1955 T-Bird in the first round. Off the line Cecil took the early lead with a great .007 reaction time but by half track the Studebaker drove around Cecil and charged down the back half of the track to take the win with an improving 6.34.

Diedrich Wins in Woodburn!

Courtesy of WCOPMA

Woodburn, OR – No more waiting and wondering when his first Pro Mod victory would come, Jay Diedrich placed his “Evil Outlaw” 1957 Chevy in the winner’s circle at Woodburn Dragstrip this past weekend while running with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association.

Diedrich has won multiple events with his Top Sportsman 1968 Camaro and had many semi-final and runner up finishes in the Pro Mod car, but he hasn’t been able to secure a victory in the three years he has raced the “Evil Outlaw” 1957 Chevy.

Starting off the weekend Diedrich placed himself in the number two qualifying spot after the first qualifying session with a 6.37. The team was happy with that run as they had no prior data for this race track and no testing prior to this pass but now had data to tune with.

Don Carter Motorsports Plans to Keep Their Points Lead after Woodburn

Courtesy of DC Motorsports

Sacramento, Ca – The 1953 Studebaker of the Don Carter Motorsports team will head to Woodburn, Oregon this upcoming weekend (July 10-11) to run with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association for the third event of the season for the association.

Coming off a runner up finish at the last WCOPMA event in Sacramento a couple weeks back, Bret Williamson plans to make it 3-for-3 as far as final round appearances go while running with the WCOPMA this year. The team won the first event of the season and was the runner up at the second. They are currently number 1 in the point’s standings with about a 2-round lead over Dan Myers.

The team’s main focus is to get a tune up on this track that they have no data from. The car runs good at Sacramento Raceway, they have that track figured out, but when they travel to new tracks it is back to square 1. Luckily for them, it will be most racers’ first time running at Woodburn this weekend so everyone is in square 1.

Ramona, Ca – On the weekend of July 10-11 the Dan Myers Racing team will take their 1957 Chevy pick-up truck to Woodburn, Oregon to run with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association on the third stop of the association’s 2010 schedule.

Coming off a win at the last WCOPMA event in Sacramento a couple weeks back, Dan Myers and his team are hoping to bring some of that momentum and luck from Sacramento to Woodburn with them.

Dan is not afraid to admit that luck was on his side in Sacramento. After all, he won the event without making a full pass down the ¼-mile as every run was cut short for some reason or another. But Dan states “you cannot win a race without having at least one lucky round, thankfully for me I had three in a row.”

Diedrich Fights Problems all Weekend, Out First Round

Courtesy of Firebaugh Express Racing

Sacramento, Ca – Jay Diedrich in his “Evil Outlaw” Firebaugh Express Racing 1957 Chevy will have to wait a little longer before he gets that first Pro Mod win as he lost in the first round of eliminations with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association on the June 11-12 weekend.

Diedrich qualified in the number three spot after two sessions of qualifying with a strong 6.17@243.77. In the first round of eliminations he faced Bret Williamson who drives the Don Carter Motorsports 1953 Studebaker. Williamson was having his fair share of problems all weekend too so the first round match-up was going to be won by who had the better luck getting from “A-to-B”.

With a Runner-up Finish, Williamson Retains WCOPMA Points Lead

by Steven Bunker

Sacramento, Ca – Going into the Nitro Nite of Fire event at Sacramento Raceway last weekend, Bret Williamson, driver of the Don Carter Motorsports 1953 Studebaker, was leading the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association’s point’s standings after winning the first event of the season. Williamson and crew were looking at getting the car and tune-up back where it should be.

After having a stellar first outing with the car they went to Bakersfield a few weeks later and could not get the car down the track from “A-to-B” under power. Before heading to Sacramento this past weekend their goal was to get back to where they started, where they know it works. On Friday they made a descent test pass with an early shut off to see where they were. When the Friday night qualifying session came around they did not get the ‘Stude down the track after a peddling and early shutoff 7.85.

Diedrich rolls into Sacramento to run with the “Outlaw’s” this weekend

Courtesy of Diedrich Racing

Firebaugh, Ca – This Friday & Saturday Jay Diedrich will be attending the “Nitro Nite of Fire” event held at Sacramento Raceway to run with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association. This is the second WCOPMA event of the 2010 season and Diedrich is currently sitting in the number six spot in points after a first round red-lighting during the first event.

The first round loss was bittersweet, although, at the last WCOPMA event as the “Evil Outlaw” 1957 Chevy ran an incredible 249.47 MPH pass. This weekend Diedrich and the Firebaugh Express Racing team are looking for three things specifically. First they want to see 250+ MPH pop up on the scoreboard sometime during the weekend. Second, they want to run a 3.9x to the 1/8th-mile and lastly they would obviously like to end up in the winner’s circle at the end of the night and secure their first Pro Mod victory.
