TONY SCHUMACHER & ANTRON BROWN U.S. Army Top Fuel Duo on the Up and Up Headed to NHRA Mile-High Nationals in Colorado

MORRISON, CO – It’s time for the annual Western Swing for the U.S. Army Top Fuel Dragster duo of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher us armyand Antron Brown and, by all accounts, both are headed in the right direction with regard to their 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series campaigns – up.

Schumacher and his U.S. Army Top Fuel Dragster team for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) have made a steady climb upward in the championship standings over the past five events and look to continue their positive momentum with this weekend’s opening stop on the three-event Western Swing – the 34th annual Mopar NHRA Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway in the Denver suburb of Morrison, Colorado.

Their surge in the standings over the past month and a half is proof that the U.S. Army Racing duo and their respective teams have been demonstrating the same attributes the Army looks for in its Soldiers – putting the mission first, a never-quit attitude and a refusal to accept defeat.

U.S. Army Team Strong at Norwalk Schumacher Surges to Semifinal; Brown Scores First Summit Motorsports Park Win En Route to 30th Career Event Title, Fifth of Season

U.S. Army Racing teammates Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown entered this weekend’s eighth annual Summit us armyRacing Equipment NHRA Nationals wanting to extend the celebration of our great nation’s 238th birthday. Neither disappointed as the tandem displayed a level of engineering and teamwork reflective of the U.S. Army’s leading-edge technology and the powerful, realistic training of its Army Strong Soldiers. The two met in the semifinals, where Brown scored the victory and then went on to score a season-leading fifth event title and his first at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

Schumacher, driver of the U.S. Army Top Fuel Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR), continued his solid weekend Sunday with victories over Khalid alBalooshi and Doug Kalitta in the opening two rounds, setting the stage for a battle of the U.S. Army teammates in the semifinal. It was the fifth time this season the DSR teammates met, and going into the matchup, the pair were tied with two victories apiece. The seven-time Top Fuel champion hazed his tires on his pass, which resulted in a run of 5.171 seconds at 144.41 mph. That handed Brown, who made a pass of 3.793 seconds at 320.89 seconds, the semifinal win, which placed him up against Shawn Langdon in the final round.

U.S. Army NHRA Racing Eighth Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals Final Qualifying Report

The U.S. Army Racing Top Fuel duo of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown will start Sunday’s elimination rounds of us armythe eighth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in the seventh and third positions, respectively, after Saturday’s final Mello Yello Drag Racing Series qualifying sessions at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

The Army is the Nation’s preeminent leadership experience, where the Nation’s future leaders are developed and empowered with the confidence to take decisive action when needed and the flexibility to excel in constantly evolving situations. While the Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) teams qualified twice in the late afternoon and twice in the night, the U.S. Army teammates will race in much different conditions Sunday, as final eliminations begin at 11 a.m.

Schumacher, who advanced from eighth to seventh in the qualifying rundown, posted passes of 3.839 seconds at 322.65 mph and 3.794 seconds at 324.12 mph. He will face No. 10 qualifier Khalid alBalooshi in the opening round of eliminations Sunday.

U.S. Army NHRA Racing NHRA Nationals Friday Qualifying Report

The U.S. Army Racing duo of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown rank sixth and seventh, respectively, after posting us armysolid passes Friday afternoon during the first qualifying session of this weekend’s Eighth Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk Ohio. Each lost traction during the second session, but vow to utilize a level of engineering and teamwork reflective of the Army’s leading-edge technology in tomorrow’s dual qualifying sessions, and ultimately Sunday’s race, to earn another NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Top Fuel victory for the U.S. Army and Don Schumacher Racing (DSR).

Schumacher, driver of the U.S. Army Dragster for DSR, recorded a time of 3.839 seconds at 322.65 mph in Friday’s first-round qualifying, which was good enough for the third position at the conclusion of the session. The seven-time Top Fuel champion rattled his tires in the second session shortly after his launch, which resulted in a run of 8.717 seconds at 77.07 mph. He will have two more opportunities Saturday to improve his time and earn his first number one qualifying spot of 2014.

U.S. Army NHRA Racing Route 66 NHRA NationalsFinal Qualifying Report

The U.S. Army Racing Top Fuel duo of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown will start Sunday’s elimination rounds of us armythe 17th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals in the second and third positions after both made their best runs of the weekend in Saturday’s final Mello Yello Drag Racing Series qualifying session at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Ill.

Both teams displayed a level of engineering and teamwork reflective of the Army’s leading-edge technology Saturday when conditions continued to improve. Schumacher, driver of the U.S. Army Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR), closed qualifying with a run of 3.775 seconds at 325.61 mph. It was his fourth clean pass of the weekend and positioned the seven-time Top Fuel champion in the number two position for the second consecutive year at his home track. Last June, he stormed through the field from the same qualifying spot to win for the fourth time at Route 66 Raceway.

The U.S. Army Racing tandem of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown opened the 17th annual O’Reilly Auto Parts us armyRoute 66 NHRA Nationals at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois, by each posting a pair of strong qualifying runs. Brown ranks fourth and Schumacher fifth with two more qualifying sessions Saturday.

Schumacher made a pair of solid passes in the U.S. Army Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) first posting a run of 3.860 seconds at 319.07 mph and then backing it up with a pass of 3.812 seconds at 323.81 mph. The Chicago native is looking to defend his O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 NHRA Nationals victory and score his 75th Top Fuel win of his career.

Epping, NH – Saturday’s final two rounds of qualifying for this weekend’s second annual Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals us armysaw Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and his U.S. Army Top Fuel Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR) move into the upper half of the brackets for Sunday’s elimination rounds while Antron Brown and the Matco Tools/U.S. Army Dragster for DSR held onto the No. 1 spot he earned Friday at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire.

Schumacher, the seven-time Top Fuel world champion, displayed the level of engineering and teamwork reflective of the Army’s leading-edge technology and the powerful, realistic training of its Soldiers in laying down a solid run of 3.815 seconds at 322.65 mph in today’s third-round qualifying session that lifted him from 10th to eighth in the final qualifying order. He smoked his tires shortly after leaving the start line in today’s final-round run.

U.S. Army NHRA Racing Second annual NHRA New England Nationals – Friday Qualifying Report

Epping, NH – The U.S. Army Racing duo of Tony “The Sarge” Schumacher and Antron Brown returned to New England Friday for us armythe second annual Auto-Plus NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway in Epping, New Hampshire. The duo led the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series contingent close to where it all began for the U.S. Army back in 1775 taking great pride in the U.S Army colors they wear representing the more than 1 million Soldiers who protect our freedom and our way of life.

Schumacher, driver of the U.S. Army Dragster for Don Schumacher Racing (DSR), made an impressive run of 3.820 seconds at 322.50 mph during Friday’s opening session, but wasn’t able to make a clean pass in the second session coasting to a run of 8.700 seconds at 73.53 mph after losing traction. The seven-time Top Fuel champion ranks 10th with two more sessions of qualifying Saturday.
