HYDE REACHES ELITE EIGHT AT U.S. STREET NATIONALS, EYES REPEAT GLORY AT WORLD SERIES OF PRO MOD

BRADENTON, FL – Pro Mod standout Spencer Hyde delivered an impressive performance at the U.S. Street Nationals presented by M&M Transmission, January 22-25 at Bradenton Motorsports Park, advancing to the quarterfinals in one of the most competitive Pro Mod events in history, losing to eventual winner Stevie “Fast” Jackson. The race marked the second event of the Drag Illustrated Winter Series and featured a staggering 70-car qualifying field battling for just 32 spots.

Driving in place of esteemed Pro Mod racer Ken Quartuccio, Hyde quickly found his rhythm in unfamiliar equipment, qualifying No. 10 with a stout 3.570 second pass at 211.06 mph on his second qualifying attempt. The performance placed Hyde solidly in what became the quickest Pro Mod qualifying field ever assembled.

“This car is very similar to mine, so it didn’t take long to get acquainted to it, and it felt like everything was pretty natural,” said Hyde. “These guys have a really good program over here at the Tidwell camp. They gave me a great race car, and it just wasn’t quite good enough today. But I’m confident we can come back at World Series of Pro Mod and go deep into the rounds again.” Continue reading

SPENCER HYDE TO RACE FINAL TWO WINTER SERIES RACES

STRATFORD, ON – Spencer Hyde, the 2023 World Series of Pro Mod winner, will be taking over driving duties for reigning U.S. Street Nationals winner and Winter Series points champion Ken Quartuccio beginning with the upcoming U.S. Street Nationals, January 23-25, 2026. Hyde will be piloting the same screw-blown ‘69 Camaro out of the Scott Tidwell Racing camp, tuned by Steve Petty, that Quartuccio won the championship with last year.

“This isn’t a decision I take lightly,” said Quartuccio. “After winning the U.S. Street Nationals and the Winter Series championship in 2025, it is very important for my business that I step back to focus on expanding new opportunities there.”

“Spencer Hyde is the only driver I trust to take this car forward,” Quartuccio added. “He has the talent, work ethic, and respect for what this car is and what the team represents. Putting him in my seat for the rest of the Drag Illustrated Winter Series is passing the torch to someone who can honor the legacy Scott Tidwell and Dustin Nesloney have built in this series and keep winning.” Continue reading

SPENCER HYDE VOTED 2025 NHRA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

TEMECULA, CA – First year Funny Car driver Spencer Hyde, of Stratford, Ontario, was named 2025 NHRA Rookie of the Year at the 2025 Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Awards Ceremony at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California. Hyde, who races for Hall of Fame tuner and team owner Jim Head, received the most votes from a national media panel recognizing his on-track performance as well as his contributions through media coverage and fan engagement.

“It’s a huge feather in my cap to come out here as a nobody and do well,” said Hyde. “We’re at a 50 percent win-loss ratio, which is pretty tough to do your first year out here. You’ve got a guy like Tony Stewart who won it last year. Other big names in our sport, last race in Vegas, I lined up against Del Worsham, who was Rookie of the Year in 1991. To be added to this list is a huge honor. I hope to be another Rookie of the Year who goes on to win big races and championships.”

A top ten finisher in the highly competitive Funny Car class Hyde, won the Las Vegas Four-Wide NHRA Nationals Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge early in the season and raced to two final round appearances at the New England Nationals (Epping, NH) and the Sonoma Nationals (Sonoma, CA), respectively. SPENCER HYDE LEARNS WHY READING IS CALLED HOUSE OF CHAOS

READING, PA – The NHRA Countdown is designed to make the final six races of the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series interesting, and the first race, the 40th NHRA Reading Nationals presented by Nitro Fish at Maple Grove Raceway, did exactly just that. Spencer Hyde, the rookie Funny Car driver for Head Racing, entered race day in the No. 1 qualifying position. After advancing to the quarterfinals, he was knocked out earlier than he anticipated, along with No. 2 qualifier and points leader Austin Prock and No. 4 qualifier Jack Beckman.

“This race had so many crazy things happen, in every professional class,” said Hyde. “I said when I earned the No. 1 qualifier that I knew it would be no guarantee, but to have No. 1 qualifiers out early, crashes happen in Top Fuel and funky DQ circumstances happen in Pro Stock is pretty wild. There’s a reason they call this place the House of Chaos, and it definitely lived up to that name. I’m disappointed we didn’t get the win, but that’s drag racing for you.”

Hyde earned his first No. 1 qualifying spot during the second qualifying session on Friday, with his best pass of the weekend, a 3.868 second, 330.07 mph run. In the first round of eliminations, he was up against part-time driver Phil Burkart Jr. It wasn’t the smoothest run, but Hyde was the first to the finish line, allowing him to advance to the quarterfinals.
