Adam Arana answers call to serve in U.S. Coast Guard
LAS VEGAS – ProtectTheHarvest.com/Lucas Oil rider Adam Arana has enlisted in the United States Coast Guard and will step aside from his
young Pro Stock Motorcycle career in 2015.
Arana, 23, begins his service on Jan. 6, when he enters boot camp in Cape May, N.J. He was sworn in for delayed entry on Oct. 21 after successfully completing required entrance tests.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do before I even graduated high school,” Arana said. “It’s a little bit nerve-racking, but it’s exciting at the same time and I’m looking forward to it.
“I’m so glad I had the opportunity to race. If it wasn’t for Forrest and Charlotte Lucas and my dad, I wouldn’t be out here. I’ve had an amazing two years. It’s had its ups and downs, but this is something I will cherish the rest of my life.”
In nearly two full seasons of racing, Arana has one No. 1 qualifier and one final-round appearance. Plus, he was the lone rookie to make the Countdown to the Championship in 2013.
Youngest Arana still has winning on his mind for Gateway and beyond
ST. LOUIS, IL – ProtectTheHarvest.com Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana has been a busy man this week, preparing for the AAA
Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals at Gateway Motorsports Park.
Arana, his brother Hector Jr., and their father Hector Sr. have been burning the midnight oil working on the Buells in an effort to wring out all the speed they can.
“We went home right after Dallas and rebuilt my engine and Hector’s engine,” Arana said. “It’s going to be a long couple of days before St. Louis. Thank goodness it’s summertime and I’m not in school. We’ll be putting in 15 hours a day or more at the shop, trying to get everything ready.”
Ready to steal the show, Arana heads to Dallas confident
DALLAs, TX – Even though the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals in Charlotte were postponed until this weekend’s AAA Texas NHRA
FallNationals, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana welcomes the challenge of running two full races at Texas Motorplex.
While he was ready to line up his ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Buell against Chaz Kennedy in the first round of eliminations in Charlotte, the youngest Arana thinks that the makeup rounds in Dallas might fit his riding style even better.
“It’s not going to be any different having two races in one weekend really,” Arana said. “If anything, I think the Charlotte races running during qualifying may be a little easier mentally because it won’t have the same atmosphere.
Wild-card Arana looks to steal a win at NHRA Carolina Nationals
CHARLOTTE, NC – Putting it all on the line at the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana is ready to
upset the top 10 in points to score his first career victory.
Making solid runs throughout the first two days of competition, the ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Buell put down its best pass of 6.956 seconds at 190.86 mph in the final round of qualifying. Just missing his goal of landing in the top half of the ladder, Arana’s 10th-place qualifying effort has him racing against No. 7 Chaz Kennedy in round one of eliminations.
“The weekend’s been alright for us, even though I still haven’t qualified in the top half of the field,” Arana said. “We’re not too far off though. It looked like it was going to happen after how Friday went, but it just didn’t fall the way I hoped.
Weather has Brogdon ready to pounce during Charlotte eliminations
CHARLOTTE, NC – Donning the infamous Pink Panther on the side of his car, Pro Stock driver Rodger Brogdon has put himself in a favorable
situation to win rounds at the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals at zMAX Dragway.
“We were having trouble with our shift light today,” Brogdon said. “Even with that issue, we went a little faster in Q4 but I know we can go even faster. I think we can go a low .62, and if not we will at least make it a race tomorrow.
“All I know is either way we’re glad to have the Owens Corning Chevrolet Camaro going in the right direction.”
Continuing to work on his setup, Brogdon laid down a best time of 6.637 seconds at 208.49 mph to put him in the No. 13 qualifying position. With hopes of a first-round upset, Brogdon’s Owens Corning Chevrolet Camaro will take on No. 4 qualifier Jonathan Gray.
Brogdon hopes for better performance from Owens Corning Camaro
CHARLOTTE, NC – Rodger Brogdon and his Owens Corning Pro Stock team continue building for the future with the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina
Nationals this weekend at zMax Dragway.
Brogdon unveiled a new Owens Corning Chevrolet Camaro for the U.S. Nationals two weeks ago, but the new-car blues struck the team, as Brogdon struggled to turn increased horsepower into top-half passes. However, after testing at two different tracks before Charlotte, Brogdon knows the future is bright.
“It’s going to be a fantastic car when we get done with it,” Brogdon said. “I really do like it. It’s the straightest car I’ve ever had in Pro Stock. The last couple I’ve had, they just seemed to not go straight. This one does, and every time I turned it loose it’s like it’s on a string. That tells me it’s a good car.”
One step closer to his goal, Arana heads to Charlotte confident
CHARLOTTE, NC – With the excitement of the Countdown to the Championship kicking off at the NHRA Carolina Nationals in Charlotte, Pro
Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana is trying not to let the emotions of others distract him.
“I’ve just been trying to stay relaxed before we go to Charlotte,” Arana said. “Unfortunately, I’m not in the Countdown to the Championship this year. Since my dad and brother are though, I’m going to try to help them as much as possible to get a championship.”
Aside from helping his family prep for a championship chase, Arana has continued his constant upgrade on his ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Buell to find the right balance of horsepower and setup.
U.S. Nationals weekend is an overall productive time for Arana
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Improving with every pass he made throughout the weekend, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana
continued his success of solid passes right into the first round of eliminations at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Making its best pass down the track of the entire event, the ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Buell put down a 6.943-second pass at 193.77 mph in the first round of final eliminations Monday. Unfortunately, Arana’s reaction time of .088 had him chasing Matt Smith down the lanes the entire pass, coming up just short of advancing to the next round.
“I’m disappointed that we went out in the first round but who wouldn’t be,” Arana said. “The bike drifted towards the right, which didn’t help my speed at all. Because of that we’re going to make changes to the wheelie bar to make sure that it tracks straight.”
Brogdon’s Owens Corning Camaro lines up No. 16 for U.S. Nationals
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Rodger Brogdon’s Owens Corning Camaro will make its first Pro Stock start at the biggest NHRA drag race of
the season, the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, on Monday at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
Brogdon grabbed the No. 16 qualifying spot out of 21 cars that attempted to make the race, securing the position with a pass of 6.675 seconds at 207.43 mph.
“Of course we want to be much higher up in the order, but we don’t always get our way, do we?” Brogdon said. “We haven’t had the weekend we all wanted and expected with our new car, but you have to be in it to win it, and we’ll give it our best shot tomorrow.”
Last-minute change has Arana primed for Indy eliminations
INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Making a major gain in the last round of qualifying, Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Adam Arana is excited about
his chances of winning rounds on Monday at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis.
With his fastest pass of the weekend coming in Q5, the ProtectTheHarvest.com/MAVTV Buell improved immensely with a 6.951 at 193.35 mph to secure the No. 14 qualifying spot.
“We made some changes on the tune-up after the first session today and it definitely picked up some time,” Arana said. “It picked up over 1 mph on the back half, which is really good. Plus, I picked up on my 60-foot numbers, so we’re definitely going in the right direction. I went from being about a tenth behind the field after the fourth session to less than five-hundredths.
