FireAde pro Larry Morgan ready to bounce back in Houston

HOUSTON – Larry Morgan and the FireAde Racing Pro Stock team are ready to return to their winning ways this Larry Morgan - Vegas springweekend at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals.

Following his victory at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte on March 29, returning to the winner’s circle for the first time in nearly nine years, Morgan suffered some atrocious luck in Las Vegas on April 12.

After qualifying in the top half of the field for the fourth time in five races this season, the generator in Morgan’s hauler malfunctioned Sunday morning of the race. That wiped out any electricity to the semi, including computers to help tune Morgan’s FireAde Chevrolet. Understandably, Morgan shook the tires in the first round and fell to Jimmy Alund.

FireAde Racing driver Larry Morgan runs out of luck in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – The luck ran out for FireAde Racing Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan when he shook the tires in his first-Larry Morgan - Las Vegas, spring-2round matchup on Sunday with Jimmy Alund at the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, giving the win to the Swedish driver.

Morgan was coming off a victory at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals two weeks ago in Charlotte and was running well in Las Vegas, but the generator in the team’s hauler failed Sunday morning, leaving Morgan and his team without power. That meant they had no computer from which to tune his Chevrolet Camaro, and it bit Morgan in the first round.

His Chevy shook the tires almost immediately at the hit, while Alund made a clean 6.695-second, 206.42-mph to move to the second round. Morgan’s official numbers were 12.972 seconds at 65.81 mph as he coasted across the finish line.

FireAde’s Larry Morgan gets solid start to Four-Wide weekend in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – After rain shortened NHRA Four-Wide Nationals qualifying to only two rounds on Saturday, Lary Morgan - CharlotteFireAde Chevrolet Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan got the job done and landed in the top half of the eliminations bracket.

Making his best pass during the final session of qualifying, Morgan’s 6.523 at 213.16 mph secured him the No. 7 qualifying spot for the illustrious event.

“We were light on everything today,” Morgan said. “We wanted to be very conservative and try to make repeatable runs and get everything working. We made changes after the first run, but we still didn’t want to get too crazy because the lane we were in had no rubber in it. It was solid concrete, which meant we couldn’t make the rpm leave a little higher. If we could have done that, it would have reflected in our times if we were on a different lane.”

Quick first-round pass not enough for FireAde’s Morgan

GAINESVILLE, FL – FireAde Chevrolet Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan was in the right place at the wrong time in the Larry Morgan - Round 1 - Gatorsfirst round of the NHRA Gatornationals on Sunday at Auto-Plus Raceway.

Morgan had a stellar reaction time and made the fourth-quickest pass of the first round. Unfortunately, his opponent, Greg Anderson, was just a tick quicker to get the round-win.

“We’re trying awfully hard and we want to do well,” Morgan said. “We know we didn’t have a chance with that Ford, and this year we know we have a chance if we get it right. I think there are so many different ways to skin the cat, and we’re doing it the wrong way right now.”

Morgan partnered with FireAde and Gray Motorsports for the 2015 season, and he knows success is right around the corner.

FireAde’s Morgan feeling no pressure heading into Gatornationals eliminations

GAINESVILLE, FL – FireAde Chevrolet Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan didn’t have the best passes in his first two Larry Morgan - Gatorsqualifying attempts for the NHRA Gatornationals on Friday at Auto-Plus Raceway, but was he worried? Not in the slightest. Morgan then pulled off two good qualifying runs Saturday and is in the No. 11 position heading into final eliminations.

“I’m not doing pressure,” Morgan said. “I’ve kicked everybody’s butt out here but (rookie) Drew Skillman, and the only reason I haven’t is because he hasn’t been racing with me. None of them scare me. I do enjoy what I do and I love the people, so I’m not feeling any pressure.

“I’m going to do the best I can do for everybody who’s associated with me, especially FireAde and all their great people. I want to win.”
