GAYMON, SZEWCZYK JR., KALINOWSKI, SALEMI & RAISER TAKE LADIES NIGHT WINS AT LANCASTER

Hayek & Lama wins Ladies Classes

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Dragway hosted Ladies Night for the Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing program on Friday night. On top of a full card of racing there were special Pro and Amateur classes for female racers.

An additional highlight was a special match race between Melanie Salemi’s “Purple Reign” Pro Modified and the Top Dragster of Kathy Fisher. The doorslammer got the better of the dragster as Salemi posted a winning elapsed time of 4.513 seconds at 125.77 mph.

In Mallare Enterprises Top ET, Rick Szewczyk, Jr. of Buffalo posted his first career win. Szewczyk got the win light after Zell Gaymon left the starting line too soon. It was the second final round of the night for Gaymon, who picked up the win in Top 8. Gaymon defeated Mike Nowak in Top 8 final after Nowak broke out.

A SWINARSKI SWEEP AT LANCASTER

Zamuda wins Supercharged Bounty Hunters; Peters gets third Bikes & Sleds win 

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Dragway had its first double winner of 2017 on Friday night as Mike Swinarski of Boston, N.Y. picked up wins in both Top 8 and Mallare Enterprises Top ET.

In other Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing action, Mike Zamuda of Buffalo won the first ever event at Lancaster for the Supercharged Bounty Hunters. Clay Ricketson of E. Aurora, N.Y. took top honors in McGard Mod. Mike Peters of Angola, N.Y. scored his third win of the year in Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds. Meg Grzekiewicz of Belfast, N.Y. won Tread City Tire Street and Reid Ricketson won a special Mopar vehicles only class.

Veteran drag racer Mike Swinarski swept the night in Top 8 and Mallare Enterprises Top ET. Swinarski started off by holding off Joe Masullo in the finals of Top 8. He then was inserted into the Top ET bracket where he once again advanced to the finagling pairing. This time Swinarski was the chaser instead of the one being chased, and he made up about one second head start on the starting tree to defeat Ken Babiak, Jr. for his win #2.

LANCASTER POSTPONES PRO MOD SHOOTOUT UNTIL SEPTEMBER 12

LANCASTER, NY – Inclement weather and a not too sunny forecast for all of race day has forced Lancaster National Dragway to postpone Tuesday’s much-anticipated Pro Modified Shootout. Teams and fans can now circle Tuesday, September 12 on their calendars to come out for one of the biggest events on the track’s schedule as the make-up date.

The decision to make the announcement on Monday, rather than wait until later in the day Tuesday, was to accommodate race teams and fans that were traveling several hours for the event.

NOWAK, SOBCZYSNKI, THURSTON, WINKOWSKI & VANSTROM GET FIRST WINS OF 2017 AT LANCASTER

BEZINQUE GETS THIRD STREET OUTLAWS WIN IN A ROW, PETERS 2ND BIKES & SLEDS WIN

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Dragway kicked off the month of June on Friday night with a full slate of Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing, including an appearance by the Buffalo Street Outlaws.

Mike Nowak of Lancaster nearly did the double in Top 8 and Mallare Enterprises Top ET. He was quick enough to qualify for the Top 8 ladder where he went on to the final round to defeat Michael Mallare. He then went into Top ET bracket and once again made it to the final pair. This time, however, his luck would run out as he broke out in the Top final. This allowed Jason Sobczysnki of Lancaster to score his first win of the season.

In McGard Mod ET, Ray Thurston IV of Clarence, N.Y. earned his first win of the season. Thurston faced veteran Roger Kieffer in the finals with both drivers running quicker than their dial-ins with Thurston running closest to his dial-in to get the win.

AFTERNOON RAINS FORCE LANCASTER TO CANCEL MAY 26 DRAG RACING PROGRAM

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway have canceled the Franco’s Pizza Friday Night IHRA Drag Racing Program for Friday, May 26 after afternoon rains dampened the facility.

Track officials had planned on proceeding as scheduled with Jet Funny Car Night earlier in the day, but the late-arriving showers put an end to those plans.

“All weather indications earlier said we were in the clear, however, a new system popped up now and it started to rain at the track again,” said Tim Packman, Track President. “It would have been unsafe to race down the strip, and probably miserable for any dedicated fans that showed up.”

Lancaster National Dragway and Kozak Marketing announce line-up for Street Outlaw Night

Popular racers from Discovery Channel returning to Lancaster

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway and Kozak Motorsports Marketing have finalized the line-up for this year’s Street Outlaw Night scheduled for Friday, June 30.

It was a successful night and huge crowd turnout from last year’s event when Kamikazi Chris and Boosted GT, representing the 405, took on the 716 Buffalo Street Outlaws in a thrilling show. Since then, all invoLancasterlved have been waiting with anticipation in regards to who was coming from the 405 to challenge the 716 this year.

As previously announced, Kamikaze Chris and his popular ElCo will be returning to WNY. This year, he’s bringing his fellow driver, Dominator, and his 1967 Dodge Dart from the popular “Street Outlaws” TV show on Discovery Channel

HITCHCOCK, RICKETSON, SALEMI, SEMLITSCH & BEZINQUE WIN AT LANCASTER

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Dragway hosted the second race of the season for the Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing program on Friday night.

Winners included Brian Hitchcock of Amherst, N.Y. (Mallare Enterprises Top), Ryan Ricketson of Delevan, N.Y. (McGard Mod), Lucas Salemi of Clarence Center, N.Y. (Hebeler’s Sales Bikes & Sleds), Ed Semlitsch of West Seneca, N.Y. (Tread City Tire Street) and Jason Bezinque of Amherst, N.Y. (Buffalo Street Outlaws Real Street).

In Mallare Enterprises Top ET, Brian Hitchcock picked up the win over Tom Coonly after both drivers broke out. The Carl & Joanie Ettipio-owned rear engine dragster of Hitchcock ran closer to his dial-in to score his first win of 2017. Ryan Ricketson continued his winning ways in McGard Mod with a victory over John Cira, Jr. in the final round.

LANCASTER NATIONAL DRAGWAY OPENS 2017 SEASON

Nowak, Bezinque, Peters & Raiser take class victories

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway kicked off the 2017 season for its Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing Series with a large turnout of competitors.

Leading the list of winners was Mike Nowak of Lancaster in Top 8 Eliminator, Jason Bezinque of Amherst in Buffalo Street Outlaws Limited, Mike Peters of Angola, N.Y. in Hebeler’s Bikes & Sleds and DJ Raiser of Lancaster in Tread City Tire Street.

Nowak picked up the Top 8 victory over Mark Talmadge despite Talmadge having a one second advantage. The Buffalo Street Outlaws made their first visit to Lancaster as part of the opening day festivities. Jason Bezinque defeated Brian Prior in the heads up final.

WET WEATHER FORCES LANCASTER TO POSTPONE WEEKEND EVENTS

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway has postponed all motorsports events for this upcoming weekend due to the heavy rains that have fallen at the facility earlier in the week combined with the additional rain and cold temperatures that are being forecasted for this weekend.

The wet weather that blanketed the Western New York area earlier this week left the facility water-logged with the parking lot and pit areas especially saturated. Any additional precipitation would make it even more difficult to get competitors in and out of the pits without getting their trailers and/or cars stuck.

Lancaster National Speedway Announces 2017 Facility Improvements

New beer stand, burnout boxes, pit area speakers plus Dragway repair on tap

LANCASTER, NY – Lancaster National Speedway & Dragway is pleased to announce a slate of improvement projects for their multiple-award winning WNY facility..

Two improvements will be made to the dragway portion of the facility starting with the replacement of the burnout box, as well as the two sections of concrete just in front of them. Oak Orchard Concrete, owned by long-time drag racing supporter Tim Payne, was awarded the bid.

Another improvement is right around the 60-foot mark of the ?-mile dragstrip where the existing starting line area meets the newer concrete surface that was installed last year. A slight dip in the MacKenzie’s Automotive and Performance Center Lane No. 1 will be addressed and raised up to make it level. Last year, Bravo Concrete Maintenance successfully did a similar procedure to the Franco’s Pizza Lane No. 2, and will perform the work on Lane 1 before the Franco’s Pizza IHRA Drag Racing season starts on April 29.
