Rob Kozak of Kozak Motorsports Marketing feels that the cost of Drag Racing and Structure of the sport is what’s killing the sport of Drag Racing and all forms of motorsports. “I’ve been involved with several forms of motorsports, on a professional level, for over half of my life. I’ve watched as the cost of operating a team and promoting events has caused many good people to walk away from something they truly love. That’s why I chose to create this “Mini-Series”. It’s an affordable entertainment option for fans, tracks, and racers. By limiting the amount of travel, keeping entry fees reasonable, and paying the tracks a small sum for the use of their facility it allows for a highly competitive product for all involved,” said Kozak.

Don’t Tell Jon and Melanie Salemi You Can’t Bracket Race a Blown Alcohol Car

Buffalo, NY – Over a four day period of testing and racing at the Canadian Nitro Nationals, held at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Melanie Simmons SalemiOntario, Melanie Simmons Salemi put together a string of twelve runs all within .050 seconds of each other. The consistency of her Delta backed dragster can be attributed to her father, Roger Simmons and her husband, Jon Salemi (Resolution Racing Services) but, they’re not the ones who were behind the wheel putting up reaction time numbers within .011 seconds of each other; all weekend.

Add together consistent elapsed times with a driver in her zone and it equals the first event win of 2013 for the Toyrific team of Simmons Salemi. This is what myself and my team have been striving for. I knew we were capable but we just needed to hit our stride, said driver, Melanie Simmons Salemi.

Melanie qualified her blown Alcohol Injected Dragster in the fourth position with a 6.62 second 202 mph blast down the quarter mile strip for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts which is comprised of 16 Top Dragsters and 16 Top Sportsman cars. After qualifying Melanie was able to defeat Spencer Hyde, of Stratford, ON, in round one, fellow Orillia native, Gord Cooke in round two, Shakespear, Ontario’s Travis Gueguen in round three an completed her sweep of the dragster side by defeating Mike Kalin of Niagara Falls, NY.

Cordova to Joliette, 2013 a Drag Racing Odyssey

Harrison TWP, MI – After Todd Robertson’s first round loss at last week’s divisional event in Cordova, Illinois, Robertson made the Todd Robertsondecision to stay “in the area” to repair some hurt parts and take the time to re-group.

We torched a head in the first round of qualifying and hurt some other stuff but, we were able to get her together and qualify for the event. We went out in round one but, I couldn’t have been prouder of my guys. We worked real hard to get her back together and made the next run. For us it was real cool when we got a thumbs up before we fired it in the pits from Frank Manzo. He was pitted across from us. Just to be recognized by one of your heroes is really cool. My entire team is fans of the sport and we get it; we know we’re running with the big fish now and we’re still guppys but any recognition from a guy like that is really cool.
