Grande Pointe, MB – Only four events remain in the 2012 Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Series presented by ProCare Rx and veteran Pro Modified competitor Kenny Lang has his sights set on making a significant move towards the top of the points standings this weekend as he takes to the track during the 58th annual Mac Tools U.S. Nationals presented by Auto-Plus.

Currently sitting in eighth position, Lang and his talented tuner Al Billes feel as though they have turned a corner with the performance of their supercharged 1969 Summit Racing Equipment Camaro and the fabled quarter-mile surface at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis should provide the perfect setting to showcase that.

Lang’s last outing was an exhibition race during the Thunder Jam event held at his home track, Interlake Dragway, in Gimli, Manitoba, against fellow Manitoba native Frank Safanov, who recently acquired the former Gotham City Racing Willy’s campaigned by Pro Modified great Mike Ashley.

LANG HEADS TO HOME PROVINCE STILL LOOKING FOR ELUSIVE CONSISTENCY

Grande Pointe, MB – Once one of the most consistent competitors on the Pro Modified circuit during his two year reign as IHRA World Champion, Kenny Lang now finds himself in a weekly battle to find the tune-up that will give his Summit Racing Equipment Camaro a shot at winning.

A more than month-long break for the NHRA Pro Mod Series presented by Get Screened America, combined with an appearance at his home track in Gimli, Manitoba might be just what the doctor ordered.

Last weekend’s showing at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio didn’t go exactly as one would script it when competing at their sponsors’ event.

However, there are always positives to take out of every situation and the fact that Lang still sits in the top 10 in series points, just a little more than three rounds of racing out of the top five, and still with an outside shot at the championship, is something that the team can draw strength from.

This weekend Lang and his Summit Racing Equipment 69 Camaro will be at Gimli Motorsports Park in Manitoba for an event that Lang looks forward to every year. It’s an opportunity for him to reconnect with old friends and fans at the track where he cut his teeth as a drag racer.

The next NHRA action for Lang will come at the prestigious Mac Tools U.S. Nationals August 29th – September 3rd in Indianapolis, Indiana. That event will be the seventh in the ten race series and will kick-off a two month stretch run to decide the championship.

KENNY LANG HITTING SPONSORS RACE WITH SUCCESS IN TOW

Grande Pointe, MB – On the eve of what is arguably his biggest race of the season, Kenny Lang finds himself with a little momentum on his side after a runner-up finish at the Canadian Nitro Nationals two weeks ago. This weekend the Summit Racing Equipment sponsored driver will compete in the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.

To say that it’s a mouthful to squeeze your sponsor into a sentence that many times would be an understatement, but for Lang it means an added incentive to put his Al Billes tuned 1969 Summit Camaro in the winner’s circle this weekend.

A little less than two weeks ago, Lang participated in the Canadian Nitro Nationals at historic Cayuga Dragway in Ontario, Canada, where he was the defending event champion. Lang was once again able to make it to the final round this time around, only to be bested by three-time PMRA series champion Bruce Boland, behind the wheel of his supercharged 1941 Willys entry.

This will be the third event for each series in the 2012 timetable, and the second time at the popular Kohler Road strip in Cayuga, Ontario.

Expected to make his return to PMRA racing is two-time IHRA Pro Modified champion Kenny Lang of Manitoba with his Summit Racing Equipment-sponsored Camaro, who won this event last year at Cayuga.

Also coming back to PMRA racing is Massachusetts racer Peter Farber. With his 1969 Dodge Daytona-bodied Pro Modified, Farber is one of the top runners in the Eastern US.

Grande Pointe, MB – Coming off solid late round appearances at the past two NHRA GSA Pro Mod Series events, Kenny Lang knows that his team will be challenged this weekend at the Ford NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.

With a runner-up finish at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Springnationals in Houston and a semi-final showing at the most recent tour stop in Englishtown, New Jersey, the Toyota Supernationals, just two weeks ago, Lang knows that the momentum his Summit Racing team has gained will be given the ultimate test this weekend.

“We’ve been to Bristol three times before and done ok,” said a reflective Lang. “We’ve always managed to get out of first round. This is one of the nicest tracks we go to but the heat and the elevation make it a tough place to tune. We’ll play with a few things to get it dialed in. We’re really looking forward to the challenge.”
