HULL AND JIM DUNN RACING READY TO CHARGE INTO SONOMA
LONG BEACH, CA – With the Countdown to the Championship looming on the horizon and only three races remaining in the regular season,
NHRA Funny Car driver Buddy Hull and the Jim Dunn Racing team are heading into this weekend’s Denso Sonoma Nationals presented by PowerEdge with fire in their bellies and horsepower in their hearts. The event, set for July 25-27 at Sonoma Raceway, marks the 12th stop on the 2025 Mission Foods Drag Racing Series calendar and promises a highly competitive field of 18 Funny Cars battling for 16 qualifying spots.
Hull, now in his sophomore season behind the wheel of Jim Dunn Racing’s nitro Funny Car, is set to make his third career start at Sonoma Raceway and his second in the Funny Car class. Piloting a car adorned in the blue and orange Lescure Mechanical Services livery for the second time this year, and proudly featuring Alo Drinks on the rear wing, Hull is laser-focused on putting on a show for California fans.
“This place is electric,” said Hull. “Sonoma is just one of those tracks that makes the hair on your arms stand up. It’s got character. It’s fast. It’s scenic. And the fans here? They’re as hardcore as it gets. I came here in Top Fuel in 2021, and last year in my rookie Funny Car season, and every time I pull through the gates, I can feel the energy. This year, we’re coming in stronger, hungrier, and more dialed-in than ever before.” Continue reading
HULL FOCUSING ON FUTURE HEADING OUT OF SEATTLE
SEATTLE – Jim Dunn Racing and driver Buddy Hull showed off how well they can rally during tough circumstances when they were able to
quickly put their nitro Funny Car back together during the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways after a trip into the sand trap in the second round of qualifying. Their solid pass was strong enough to keep them in the show against a competitive field for the rest of qualifying, leading them to face No. 2 qualifier Matt Hagan on race day.
“I have to give the biggest shoutout in the world to Big Jim, Jon and the rest of the guys for putting the car back together after Q2,” said Hull. “Any time you go into the sand it’s a lot of work to shake it out and get it in working order again. We had sand and rocks in all kinds of crevices, including my helmet. But they managed to pull out our backup body and make it happen.”
Coming into the weekend, Hull was highlighting a Lescure Mechanical Services livery for the first time this season. The blue and orange livery also brought attention to partner Alo. After his trip to the sand during Q2 that still resulted in a solid 4.165 second, 270.70 mph pass, he and the team sat out of the third qualifying session to work on the car. When they pulled up to the starting line during the final round of qualifying, they were sporting the Jim Dunn Racing 75th anniversary Mooneyes body. Continue reading

BUDDY HULL ROLLS OUT OF NORWALK WITH CONSISTENCY
NORWALK, OH – The Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals marked the second race that Buddy Hull and Jim Dunn Racing put their
new nitro Funny Car to the test. It was another scorcher of a weekend, where 21 Funny Cars were competing for 16 spots on Sunday. After four solid qualifying runs made on Friday and Saturday, Hull made it safely into the field in the No. 16 spot.
“We have a brand-new Funny Car and we are making great strides with it,” said Hull. “This Jim Dunn Racing crew is working incredibly hard on and off the track. I think we will be in a great spot heading into the rest of the summer and the Countdown. I am continuing to get comfortable in this new car.”
Every single run that Hull made over the course of the weekend was in the 4-second range that the Jim Dunn Racing team is familiar with. Hull’s best pass came during the Q2 night run on Friday, when the track was at its coolest. He made a 4.127 second, 275.67 mph pass that secured the team in the show. While other cars competing were experiencing wide swings in ET due to the heat, Hull’s Blaze Exhaust Probes Funny Car was one of the most consistent cars all weekend. Continue reading
JIM DUNN RACING AND BUDDY HULL LOOKING TO STAY COOL WHEN NORWALK COMPETITION HEATS UP
LONG BEACH, CA – Dallas native and Jim Dunn Racing Funny Car driver Buddy Hull is fired up for his return to Summit Racing Equipment
Motorsports Park for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, June 26-29. Hull, who will be making his third appearance at the fan-favorite event and second in the Funny Car category, is carrying serious momentum into Norwalk following a solid showing at last weekend’s American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals.
Hull will once again pilot the eye-catching Blaze Exhaust Probes livery, a fiery design that turned heads during its debut last weekend. This race also marks the second event with Jim Dunn Racing’s new Nitro Funny Car, which Hull believes is already showing promising signs of becoming a hot-weather warrior.
“Virginia gave us a solid read on what this new car wants in the heat,” said Hull. “Now that we’ve got a better hot-weather tune-up under our belts, we’re eager to see what it can do in Norwalk. This place is known for its killer track surface and awesome fans, it’s one of the best tracks we compete at all year.” Continue reading
BUDDY HULL TAKES THE HEAT IN VIRGINIA
PETERSBURG, VA – While the American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals may seem like it’s the middle of the Mission Foods Drag
Racing Series season for most, for Buddy Hull and the Jim Dunn Racing team, it was a new beginning. Hull debuted a new car, with a new Blaze Exhaust Probes livery to match. After three runs made over the course of two days, it’s safe to say that this new car will help launch Hull in the right direction for the rest of the season.
“The car is completely different,” said Hull. “It drives so much better. The car does exactly what I tell it to do. I turn right, it goes right. I turn left, it goes left. So it’s a really nice car. We accomplished what we needed to this weekend. The car showed great promise for the rest of the year.”
Two weeks ago in Bristol, Hull had a trip in the sand trap that pushed the Jim Dunn Racing team to pull out a new car. This weekend was Hull’s first time making passes in it, but he adapted quickly. With each run that he made in the car, his elapsed time and speed improved. Coming into race day, Hull was competing out of the No. 14 qualifying position, going up against recent New England Nationals winner J.R. Todd. His first-round run was his best of the weekend, a 4.171 second pass at 294.56 mph. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to get past Todd’s 4.115 second, 307.86 mph pass. Continue reading

LONG BEACH, CA – NHRA Funny Car driver Buddy Hull is coming into the American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals with confidence,

BUDDY HULL ADVANCES TO SECOND QUARTERFINAL IN A ROW AT THUNDER VALLEY
BRISTOL, TN – One of the best parts of drag racing are the unexpected upsets. Buddy Hull, the driver for Jim Dunn Racing, achieved another
first round upset for the second week in a row in the Mooneyes Funny Car against No. 1 qualifier and reigning World Champion Austin Prock, at the Super Grip NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway. This first round win launched Hull into his third quarterfinals of his sophomore Funny Car season.
“We come out here to win. If we didn’t believe we have a chance at winning, we wouldn’t even show up,” said Hull. “We won first round, beating Austin Prock two races in a row. It’s fantastic, they’re hard to beat. They’re the best out here, there’s a reason why it says No. 1 on the side of their car. But we were prepared for them.”
Hull entered race day in the No. 16 position, after being met with difficult weather conditions throughout qualifying that made it challenging to get into a good groove. The Jim Dunn Racing team rallied and put together a tune up that they felt good about coming into race day. It paid off for them, when they were able to get a win past Austin Prock and John Force Racing. Continue reading
