Buddy Hull Looking to Turn Up Heat at Route 66 Nationals

DALLAS, TX – With two races under his belt in the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season Buddy Hull is looking to build on the positives. A solid qualifier at both Phoenix and Las Vegas races, Hull and his Renegade Fuel and Oils Top Fuel dragster team will be looking to make moves at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals this weekend. The track will be a new facility for the Top Fuel driver who also owns several companies in the Dallas area, but his 12,000-horsepower Top Fueler is tuned by crew chief Mike Guger who has considerable experience on the track located 25 minutes from downtown Chicago.

“Having Mike as our crew chief has been a game changer for our Renegade Fuel and Oils Top Fuel dragster,” said Hull. “His level of experience has been instrumental in our off-season preparation and improvements during the first two races. The guys on the team are so much more comfortable with the qualifying and race day routine. I think we will take another big step forward in Chicago.”

This season Hull has raced at the Arizona Nationals and the Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals and shown consistent performance improvements. Racing in his third season at this level on a limited schedule is a challenge for Hull but one he relishes. Traditionally, representing his company Vertex Roofing and General Contractors Hull will be racing this weekend with primary branding from Renegade Race Fuel and Oils. Hull’s team will also get support from Shorewood’s Tyson Motor in the form of a Dodge Ram Truck to tow the Renegade Fuel and Oils Top Fuel dragster from the pits to the starting line.

Renegade Fuels Takes Center Stage with Buddy Hull in Chicago

DALLAS, TX – Top Fuel driver Buddy Hull continues to make a positive impression and impact on the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing series. During the upcoming Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK Performance, May 19-21, the Dallas-based driver will be racing a newly designed Renegade Fuels Top Fuel dragster. NHRA fans will be reintroduced to professional drag racing at Rt. 66 Raceway and Hull is excited about getting in front of a brand-new racing audience for Renegade Fuels as well as his other major sponsor Methanol Moonshine.

“This is a great opportunity for us with Renegade Fuels to be the primary sponsor on our 12,000-horsepower Top Fuel dragster during the Chicago race,” said Hull, who started his season qualifying No. 13 at the Arizona Nationals. “Renegade Fuels came on board this year joining Methanol Moonshine and Go Lithium and we could not be more excited.”

At the beginning of the season Hull announced the addition of Renegade Race Fuels as a major associate sponsor for his Methanol Moonshine Top Fuel dragster team. Since that announcement Hull has competed in Arizona and Las Vegas qualifying at each event and garnering media and fan attention along the way. The new look for Chicago will once again push Hull and his Mike Guger-tuned team to the top of the minds of NHRA fans across the country.

BUDDY HULL FINDS POSITIVES IN QUICK VEGAS EXIT

LAS VEGAS, NV – For Buddy Hull and the Methanol Moonshine Top Fuel dragster team success is not measured in win lights and trophies, yet. The Texas-based driver has been building his Top Fuel operation with a long-term plan and this weekend’s Las Vegas NHRA Four-Wide Nationals was a positive step. In the opening round Hull, the No. 15 qualifier, was in a quad composed of four-time world champion Steve Torrence, 49-time Top Fuel winner Doug Kalitta and recent Pep Boys Top Fuel Allstar Callout winner Josh Hart.

Hull was eager to make the most of the run and try to go rounds. He made one of the quickest runs of his career, a solid 3.859 second pass at 313.80 mph. It kept pace with his competitors but did not advance him to the second round. His dragster’s engine let go just before the finish line robbing the Methanol Moonshine machine of much needed horsepower.

“We needed that run,” said Hull. “My guys work hard and (crew chief) Mike (Guger) works hard. Unfortunately, we did kick the rods out around 800-850 feet, which cost us ET and potentially cost us a round of drag racing. I do know we have some very good data now. We got the car almost all the way down the track and so with that being said, we’ve collected enough data where we can go to the next race.”

Buddy Hull Eager to Roll Dice at Vegas Four-Wide Nationals

DALLAS, TX – Top Fuel racer Buddy Hull is not much of a gambler. The businessman from Texas has built several companies and he is applying the same process to his Top Fuel racing operation. He uses hard work, good people, savvy business opportunities and networking to take on the best of the best at over 330 mph in under four seconds. This season Hull is scheduled to race eight NHRA national events and this weekend’s Vegas Four-Wide Nationals is the first of two stops in Sin City for Hull and his Methanol Moonshine Top Fuel team. This will be Hull’s first attempt at four-wide racing at The Strip at Las Vegas Speedway and the Top Fuel racer is eager to take on the unique style of racing that is a fan favorite across the country.

“There is a lot going on when you race four-wide in addition to just the sheer power on the starting line,” said Hull. “You have over 40,000-horsepower all bunched up and the sound and vibrations just really get everyone fired up. I am glad I have a team led by Mike Guger behind me because I think we can have some fun and go some rounds. Phoenix was our first race of the season, and we learned a lot. We aren’t in the position to test in the off-season so that race was a great chance for our whole team to come together and get ready for the rest of the year.”

BUDDY HULL KNOCKS OFF RUST AT ARIZONA NATIONALS

CHANDLER, AZ – The final running of the NHRA Arizona Nationals was Buddy Hull and his Methanol Moonshine Top Fuel dragster’s first race of the season. The up and coming driver rolled into Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park looking to give his new crew chief and new team some experience and also feel the rush of racing an 12,000-horsepower Top Fuel dragster at the highest level of the NHRA. With the backing of new sponsor Methanol Moonshine as well as Renegade Fuels, Go Lithium, and local backing from Camelback Ford and Chompie’s restaurant Hull and his team made three solid runs in qualifying and entered race day as the No. 13 qualifier.

“We got a lot of things out of the way that we needed to get out of the way to move forward and we got some data from the car and (crew chief) Mike Guger knocked the dust off,” said Hull. “He hasn’t been out here for a few years so for Mike to get out here and start looking at the computer again, turn the knobs and getting comfortable with the car was a huge deal. For all the crew guys it’s the first time we’ve been to the track this year together and they had to get their hands back on the car and get back into rhythm as well. This race really did a great job of preparing us for Las Vegas and we’re excited to get there.”

Buddy Hull Ready to Pour it on in 2023 NHRA Season

DALLAS, TX – Third year professional racer Buddy Hull will be back in action during the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series at this weekend NHRA Arizona Nationals driving the Methanol Moonshine Top Fuel dragster tuned by veteran crew chief Mike Guger. At the end of 2021 Hull purchased the Top Fuel operation of Tim Wilkerson, a two-time Funny Car winner in 2021, and he had a successful season last year racing limited national events. This season Hull and the Methanol Moonshine team that also receives backing from Renegade Fuels, Go Lithium, Vertex Roofing and General Contractors as well as associate sponsor support from Camelback Ford, who provided the teams tow vehicle this weekend for the Arizona Nationals, will be looking to continue their quest for wins and improved performance.

“These Top Fuel dragsters go from zero to 100 mph in less than a second but we are being very methodical in how we build this racing program,” said Hull. “We brought Mike Guger on which was a big step for us. I have to thank Tim Wilkerson for all his support, guidance and encouragement. I have known Tim my whole life and I would be racing without his help. This team has been working hard over the off season and I am excited to get to Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park and make some runs.”

“Adding someone like Mike to the team is a dream come true,” added Hull. “He has so much experience and has worked with so many great drivers, I honestly pinched myself after he said yes to working with our team. We are building a solid foundation to move forward and Mike along with David Shaff, our car chief. They will be a great one-two punch. David joined our team over a year ago and has shown great leadership from the beginning as well as a great work ethic. I can’t wait to get to Phoenix and see what we can do.”

Go Lithium Brings Power to Buddy Hull Racing

DALLAS – Beginning this weekend at the NHRA Arizona Nationals Buddy Hull Racing will be partnering with Minnesota-based Go Lithium to provide the team with custom designed 48-volt battery packs for their 12,000-horsepower Moonshine Methanol Top Fuel dragster. This first of its kind product from Go Lithium will feature four 12-volt batteries wired to create the 48-volts needed to power the starter in a custom design billet case.

“I am so excited to show off this Go Lithium battery starter,” said Buddy Hull, who will be making his 2023 debut this weekend at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. “There are two things I love about racing, the technical innovations and looking cool. These battery packs combine both of those elements and I think Go Lithium will get a lot of customers once people see how sharp this custom starter looks and how well it works. Doug Johnson and Jason Line have done an amazing job.”

DALLAS, TX – Buddy Hull announced Methanol Moonshine as his primary sponsor in December at the PRI Show and today the Dallas-based Top Fuel driver announced veteran Top Fuel tuner Mike Guger will take the reins as his full-time crew chief. Hull plans to race at least eight races in the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series. Hull’s first race this season will be the Arizona Nationals at Wild Horse Motorsports Park at the end of March.

“Adding someone like Mike Guger to the team is a dream come true,” said Hull. “He has so much experience and has worked with so many great drivers, I honestly pinched myself after he said yes to working with our team. METHANOL MOONSHINE GETS A NEW “BUDDY”!

MILDURA, AUSTRALIA / INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Methanol Moonshine, an Aussie take on an American icon, has a new “Buddy.”  Today, at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) trade show, Methanol Moonshine and NHRA Top Fuel driver Buddy Hull, along with the Buddy Hull Racing team announced that they have entered into a new partnership agreement heading into the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season.

The barrel-chested Texan with a penchant for anything and everything fast was dubbed by Methanol Moonshine founder, Wade Aunger, as “the Tony Robbins of Top Fuel” when they first met at ‘the Big Go’ this past September during the NHRA U.S. Nationals.

“I was so impressed with Buddy when Chris Bishop, Methanol Moonshine U.S.A Strategic Partner and the Racing Pro Media founder, introduced us in Indy,” said Aunger. “I knew from the second we sat down with Buddy that Chris had introduced us and brought us together for a reason. Buddy is perpetual motion. He didn’t have his top fuel dragster on track for the event but I could see he was running three-second passes in his mind during our whole conversation. He has a mind like a steel trap and he doesn’t stop thinking about ways to improve his racing program and widen his sphere of influence.”
