Guy Loveridge to join British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Management Board

Distinguished motoring journalist and Chairman of the Guild of Motoring Writers Guy Loveridge has joined the Guy Loveridge BDRHoFBritish Drag Racing Hall of Fame Management Board as Marketing and Commercial Director. Guy will also be presenting the Sydney Allard media awards at the forthcoming BDRHoF Gala evening which is taking place on Saturday 19th November at the Sheraton Skyline Hotel at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Guy has written and published 14 books and a number of documentary films. His first book, Romany Returns, published by the family firm Douglas Loveridge Publications, was shortlisted for the 1996 Longman/History Today Book of the Year Prize, and since then he has written on motoring and motor sport for a wide range of newspapers and magazines. In 2015 he won the Peugeot Motorsport Cup in recognition of outstanding achievement by a Guild of Motoring Writers member in the world of motorsport.

HEMI ENGINE GUESTS AT BRITISH DRAG RACING HALL OF FAME GALA

As well as celebrating the pioneers of British drag racing, with the presentation of the Lucas Oil Global Achievement BDRHOFSticker2012Award, this year’s British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala Awards Dinner is also celebrating the historic drag racing role played by the Mopar Hemi V8 engine. First introduced on Chrysler production cars 65 years ago, the special award is being presented to Mopar at the event being held at the Savill Court Hotel, Windsor Great Park on November 21st.

As part of these celebrations and thanks to ICE Automotive and Tim Garlick, a very important VIP guest will be the Hemi engine from Tim’s Apache Funny car.

It is also hoped to have the 354 Chrysler Hemi engine from the Allard Chrysler dragster but that is yet to be confirmed.

BRITISH DRAG RACING HALL OF FAME INVITES JUNIORS AS VIP GUESTS AT 2015 GALA AWARDS DINNER

US Automotive, the Santa Pod Racers Club, Lucas Oil Products UK Limited and Phil Evan’s company Atlantic Fluid 1971-blue-max-mustangTech will jointly sponsor two corporate tables at the 2015 BDRHoF Gala Awards Dinner being held at the Savill Court Hotel on November 21st. These will be for the Top Three Junior Dragster drivers and the Top Three Junior Bike riders and their parents. They will be VIP Guests and have their photos taken with our American star visitors and this year’s BDRHoF inductees.

The Juniors will have special gifts from the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing and Blue Max Racing. These will include a DG Museum T-shirt, an autographed photo, a DG Golden Rat Museum decal and Swamp Rat 1Taggz. The Championship winners will receive a die-cast model of the 1971 Blue Max Funny Car. These are the only two models that remain with the team and so are very special.

MORE SPONSORS SIGN UP FOR 2015 BRITISH DRAG RACING HALL OF FAME GALA AWARDS DINNER

MQQNEYES, the International Organisation of Professional Drivers and Lucas Oil have already announced their BDRHOFSticker2012sponsorship of the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala Awards Dinner being held at the Savill Court Hotel, Windsor Great Park on November 21st 2015. Two further 2014 sponsors have recently announced that they want to be involved again in 2015 – Californian born drag racer Julie Braskett and Britain’s premier supplier of parts for American vehicles U S Automotive. Larry ‘Spiderman’ McBride for British Drag Racing Hall of Fame Gala Awards ‘NIGHT OF STARS’

The news about the VIP guest list for the 2015 British Drag Racing Hall of Fame (BDRHoF) Gala Awards Dinner at Larry McBridethe Savill Court Hotel, Windsor Great Park, on November 21st 2015 just keeps on coming. Following on from announcements about the attendance of American drag racing legends Waterbed Fred Miller (Blue Max Funny Car), Bob Muravez (Freight Train dragster), Ron Hope (Rat Trap and Pure Hell Fuel Altereds) and Bruce Larson (former Funny Car Champion and current Nostalgia Funny Car campaigner), the BDRHoF is excited to confirm that 14-time Top Fuel Drag Bike Champion and world record holder Larry ‘Spiderman’ McBride has booked his flights and tickets. You would have to go back to the 1970s to be in the company of so many American drag racing legends at a UK event.

It takes a special type of individual to throw a leg over a 240-mph plus, nitro-guzzling Top Fuel Bike. As the Elder statesman of Top Fuel Drag Bike Racing, Larry ‘Spiderman’ McBride has been piloting these frightening machines for 37 years, starting before he was able to legally drink a beer.

LUCAS OIL BACKS 2015 BRITISH DRAG RACING HALL OF FAME GALA AWARDS DINNER

During the next few months there are many exciting announcements to be made about this year’s British Drag BDRHOFSticker2012Racing Hall of Fame (BDRHoF) Gala Awards Dinner that is returning to the fabulous Savill Court Hotel, Windsor Great Park on November 21st 2015. There have already been press releases covering MQQNEYES sponsorship of the Sydney Allard Media Awards and the appearances of Ron Hope (Rat Trap), Waterbed Fred Miller (Blue Max) and Bob Muravez (Freight Train) as special guests. Once again it promises to be a night to remember and, as is the tradition, the announcement about this year’s inductees will be made in July at the Dragstalgia Event held at Santa Pod Raceway over July 10th to 12th 2015.

AMERICAN DRAG RACING LEGENDS TO ATTEND BRITISH DRAG RACING HALL OF FAME GALA AWARDS DINNER

Following on from the news that Ron Hope of Rat Trap fame will be attending the 2015 British Drag Racing Hall of Photos: Bob MuravezFame Gala Awards Dinner being held at the Savill Court Hotel, Windsor Great Park on November 21st this year, two more American drag racing legends have booked their seats. They are Blue Max Funny Car super tuner Fred Miller and the only man who could really handle the twin Chevy engined Freight Train gas dragster Bob Muravez.

‘Waterbed’ Fred Miller is one of the most respected tuners in drag racing and it was in that role that he joined Raymond Beadle on the Blue Max Funny Car Team during the visits made to Santa Pod Raceway in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He said, “I was glad to do what I did in the era of Prudhomme, McEwen, Garlits and Shirley. I think it was a lot more fun back then and I miss hanging out with Raymond. We had great fun during our visits to the UK and meeting up with Stu Bradbury at the recent International Drag Racing Hall of Fame Awards Dinner in Gainesville brought back a lot of memories”.

BRITISH DRAG RACING HALL OF FAME ANNOUNCES TWO NEW BACKERS

As we enter the 10th year of celebrating those who have been instrumental in establishing and growing the sport of aptitude-logodrag racing in the UK, the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame (BDRHoF) is pleased to announce the addition of two new backers.

The first of these is Aptitude; a Bedford-based full service digital agency that works with a range of companies across the UK. They are currently in the process of developing a new website for the BDRHoF that will offer website visitors an improved experience, as well as allowing them to access information on the go from their smartphones and tablets. MOONEYES TO SPONSOR THE BRITISH DRAG RACING HALL OF FAME 2015 SYDNEY ALLARD MEDIA AWARDS

The British Drag Racing Hall of Fame (BDRHoF) is pleased to announce that the Sydney Allard Media Awards will again be presented at the BDRHoF Gala Awards Dinner being held at the Savill Court Hotel, Windsor Great Park on November 21st 2015 – the crystal trophies this year being sponsored by MQQNEYES.

Introduced in 2014, these awards pay tribute to the influence of journalists and photographers in the promotion of drag racing. The recipients of the award will not enter the British Drag Racing Hall of Fame as such, but their achievements will be honoured and their names entered as BDRHoF Special Award winners.

One  will be awarded to the writer of the best book, article, feature or blog on British drag racing published in print or on-line during the 12-months ending July 31st 2015.
