A Lesson in Family From the Mountain Motor Pro Stock Association

Courtesy of MMPSA

Frankfort, IL – In a world where competitive sports are often unfriendly at best and cut throat at worst, drag racing stands out from the crowd. Drag racing is a sport known for its camaraderie and goodwill. Although it’s not entirely across the board, most competitors will tell you that the amity found in drag racing is second to none. Such is the case in Mountain Motor Pro Stock, where the spirit of goodwill thrives.

Over the winter, quarter-mile Mountain Motor racing hung in limbo as the International Hot Rod Association, the mainstay for the class, adopted a new format of racing and chose not to keep the 800+ cubic inch machines around. Competitors quickly worked together to find a solution. It came in the form of the Mountain Motor Pro Stock Association. Staunch supporters and devoted competitors, Pete Berner and Richard Freeman, along with the support of numerous other Pro Stock racers rallied together to bring about the formation of this new organization that would take Mountain Motor racing into the next decade. In just a few short months the MMPSA went from an idea in the minds of racers to an active and valid organization with a successful event in the books.

Diedrich Looking Forward to WCHRA “SCE Gaskets Summer Nationals”

Courtesy of the WCHRA

Firebaugh, Ca – This weekend the Firebaugh Express Racing’s “Evil Outlaw” 1957 Chevy of Jay Diedrich will be attending the West Coast Hot Rod Association’s “SCE Gaskets Summer Nationals” event at the Auto Club Famoso raceway in Bakersfield, California.

After making multiple upgrades to the car and engine over the off-season, Diedrich is now confident that he has the car needed to get a win in the tough Pro Street class. In only two races with the new Brad-8 engine and 200+ pounds removed from the car he has already run career best ET’s in the mid 6-teens and has set two different MPH records; one with the West Coast Hot Rod Association (236.77) and the other with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association (249.47).

Stanley/Weiss Racing Ventures To Santa Pod Raceway With Trouble Motorsports

Story by Camp Stanley

Hagerstown, MD – The confirmation is that YES, I do have the world’s greatest “job”. I have just returned from my trip to Santa Pod Raceway in Merry Ole England. This trip was a return to a race track where my friend Brian Wood and I had ventured off to several years ago and observed 40 days and 40 nights of rain over a six day time span. To say that it rained hard would be a gross understatement of major proportions!

So when I arrived at the track Wednesday afternoon after a visit to Andy Robinson’s race car emporium and it started to sprinkle I had a massive case of deja vu! Not this again was all I could think! But after meeting all the crew on Marcus Hilt’s “Punisher” Pro Mod Corvette we got straight into the suspension setup of the car. The harder we worked and the faster we worked, the harder it rained and the little rivers of water running through the pits was enough for us to just give up on it for the night. We had no recourse but to delve into the premixed stash of that margarita stuff manufactured by the infamous mixologist (I am not a bartender!) himself, Me! And it was received well by one and all! The WORLDWIDE reputation enjoyed by this drink has now been carried to the European side of the world. Until we ran out of mix, they had been sampled by people from Texas, Sweden, England, Switzerland, France and Denmark. And it received its’ just due in the compliment department.
