Gallen wraps up season with two wins, championship and astonishing 5.557 lap

MARTIN, MI – Peter Gallen is a man on a mission. After returning to racing in 2009 following a 20-year hiatus, Gallen has blasted back onto the scene with national records, wins and more piling up at every stop. And following the
recently completed Northern Nitro Jam at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park, Gallen can add another title to his long list of accomplishments – the fastest nostalgia racer in the country.

With the 2011 Nitro Jam Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car championship already wrapped up entering the final race of the season, Gallen set out to end the year on a high note and did just that by besting his own mark and resetting the elapsed time record in the class at 5.709 seconds.

Troy Coughlin readies new car for Pro Mod action

DELAWARE, OH – The much anticipated debut of champion drag racer Troy Coughlin’s new twin turbo-charged JEGS.com Pro Mod Camaro has arrived with Coughlin hitting the strip Tuesday and Wednesday in Norwalk, Ohio, for
some quarter-mile test runs.
Noted chassis builder Jerry Bickel designed and built the ’68 Chevrolet, which will be powered by a twin turbo 504 cid big block built by Duttweiler Performance. The projected 2,500-plus horsepower the combination should generate will be transferred through a triple-disc Crower clutch and a Lenco three-speed transmission. The engine utilizes electronic fuel injection and will run on methanol, utilizing an air to water intercooler.
Janis Wins First Ever ADRL Pro Mod Trophy at ADRL Speedtech U.S. Drags IV

Dinwiddie, VA – Since its inception in 2004 the ADRL has been about Outlaw Door slammers. No rules but safety and a 
run what ya brung attitude helped make the ADRL the most popular new drag racing sanctioning body in over 30 years. This weekend the formula changed when the ADRL debuted a new legal Pro Mod class at the ADRL Speedtech U.S. Drags IV.
Team owner and driver, Mike Janis took advantage of the new Pro Mod class and brought along his NHRA legal Pro Mod along with his Outlaw Pro Extreme ride. “It was a no brainer to bring a second car,” said Janis. Our hauler is set up for it and we were coming here with the AJPE equipped Duster anyway. My initial reaction was that it would be a good way to test the Mustang before Indy but once the weekend got going it was about winning”.

Ladies take top honors at Northern Nitro Jam!

MARTIN, MI – There were championships on the line, big wins at stake and lots of great racing highlighting the 
Northern Nitro Jam at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park over the weekend, but when all was said and done a handful of ladies essentially stole the show.
Just two nights after Cherissa Smallwood claimed her very first win in Pro Fuel on Friday, Kristen Dennis did the same with her first career Ironman trophy on Sunday. Throw in an incredible victory by Lisa Bolton in one of the richest sportsman races in the country later that night and you have one incredible weekend for female racers everywhere.
“What can I say, it was a woman’s weekend. I am a bit overwhelmed, but very excited,” Dennis said. “I am so happy for Mike (Manners) winning the championship and for us to win the event as well just made for a wonderful weekend. Weekends like this prove that anything is possible when you set your mind to it.”
Joining Dennis in victory lane Sunday afternoon was Peter Gallen who easily had the biggest weekend of his career with a sweep of the Prostalgia Nitro Funny Car category, a new world record and a shiny new championship trophy traveling home with him to Pennsylvania. Other pro winners from Sunday’s finale were Steve Dorn (Nitro Harley) and Tom Padilla (Fuel Altered).
Lisa Bolton makes history with Moser Axle-Mania win

MARTIN, MI – Lisa Bolton knew that it was her against the world.
Bolton knew that in the long, prestigious history of the Moser Axle-Mania Sportsman Showdown no footbrake racer 
had ever won IHRA’s richest sportsman race. She knew no woman had ever won it either. Add in the fact that Bolton’s final round opponent was Cameron Manuel, one of the hottest drivers in sportsman racing today, and Bolton knew her chances were pretty much slim to none.
But it isn’t always what you know, it is what you do.
Bolton stunned the Moser Axle-Mania field on Sunday, racing her way to a victory in one of the richest sportsman races in the country over Manuel and pocketing a cool $22,500 in the process at the IHRA Northern Nitro Jam at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park.
PMRA, Quick 32 and PBSS going “green”

WHITBY, ON – The Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series is taking positive steps in reducing smog and greenhouse gas exhaust emissions.
This initiative in “going green” is under the guidance of Global Emissions Systems, Inc. (GESi®), www.gesi.ca, a world leader in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of emissions control systems for fuel burning engines.
Eric Latino, President and CEO and one of the founders of GESi®, is a regular competitor in the PMRA, and is spearheading this effort with the three drag race series.
“Our goal is going fast and going green,” said Latino. “There are many ways we can follow greener practices at the race track.”
Hernandez wins dramatic duel in a self-proclaimed ‘Turning-Point Weekend’ at Richmond

Dinwiddie, VA – Josh Hernandez, the winningest Pro Mod driver in history, added another round-win to his record in a quarterfinal finish Saturday at the American Drag Racing League Speedtech U.S. Drags IV at Virginia Motorsports
Park. In what has been a frustrating season for the flagship drag racing team from the country of Bahrain, the win marked what Hernandez said he feels is a defining, turning-point moment.
Hernandez delivered his quickest qualifying effort to date in the B1 Racing Corvette C5 and grabbed the No. 6 spot with a 3.708-second pass at 200.83 mph, setting up a faceoff with No. 11-qualfying Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani, sponsor of team Al-Anabi that hails from Bahrain’s neighbor country, Qatar.
At the hit, Hernandez laid down a .040-second reaction time to Al Thani’s .068, and that proved to be the difference in the race. At the finish line, Hernandez won the battle on a holeshot, running 3.698-seconds at 202.09 mph to Al Thani’s quicker-but-losing 3.676 at 208.55.
