GMPP Announces LSX454 Crate Engine Intake Kit

Courtesy of GMPP

GRAND BLANC, MI – GM Performance Parts’ (GMPP) new LSX454 Completion Kit (part number 19244481) is the solution for builders looking to get their LSX454 crate engine running with production-style fuel injection, with a GMPP-engineered custom calibration designed specifically for this application. It is on sale now, carrying an MSRP of $1,197.44.

The LSX454 Completion Kit includes an LS7 intake manifold – pre-assembled with the fuel rail, injectors and throttle body – a calibrated engine controller, wiring harness and throttle pedal assembly for the electronically controlled throttle. This comprehensive system saves builders the time and money of searching for and purchasing the parts individually, while the calibrated controller eliminates the need for third-party tuning.

GM Performance Parts Announces High-Flow, CNC-Ported LS3 Cylinder Head

Courtesy of GMPP

GRAND BLANC, MI – GM Performance Parts’ (GMPP) has released a high-flow, CNC-ported version of the LS3 cylinder head. It flows more than 350 cfm at 0.600-inch lift (intake side) at 28 inches of water restriction – or nearly 10 percent more than the stock casting – to promote greater power across the rpm band and maximize the advantage of additional performance parts, such as a “larger” camshaft and high-flow intake manifold.

The new head carries part number 88958758 and an MSRP of $700. It is available now through GMPP dealers and retailers, including through the GM Performance Parts Web site: gmperformanceparts.com. CNC porting is a precision machining process that enlarges and optimizes the shape of the intake and exhaust ports to enhance airflow. And while a horsepower increase can be realized by installing only the heads, they are more effective when matched with complementing camshaft, valvetrain, intake and exhaust components.

Courtesy of GMPP

GRAND BLANC, MI – The E-ROD 5.3L crate engine package is the second in GM Performance Parts’ (GMPP) E-ROD lineup to receive a California Air Resources Board Executive Order (EO) number – D-126-31 – making it legal for installation in pre-OBD II cars (1996-and-earlier) in the Golden State.

The E-ROD 5.3L is offered in two calibrations – one for automatic transmissions (part number 19258004) and one for manual transmissions (part number 19258008). They join the E-ROD LS3 systems (manual and automatic calibrations), which carry EO number D-126-30.

GMPP E-ROD systems are the only OEM crate engine solutions that enable authorized, emissions-compliant high-performance engine replacements for approximately 20 million pre-1996 cars, trucks and SUVs in California, regardless of the make, model or original powertrain.

55 Chevy with CARB-Approved 430-HP LS3 Averages 23 MPG

Courtesy of GMPP

GRAND BLANC, MI – Efficiency isn’t a word typically associated with hot rods, but when the GM Performance Parts (GMPP) E-ROD 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air hit the road for this summer’s Hot Rod Power Tour, it delivered an impressive average of 23 mpg on the drive from Florida to Michigan. That was with a 430-horsepower LS3 V-8 under the hood and emissions performance comparable to a new Camaro SS.

The key to this classic cruiser’s balanced performance was the GMPP-engineered E-ROD crate engine system, which features emissions equipment designed to make it compliant with increasingly stringent emissions laws. In fact, the E-ROD LS3 in the GMPP ’55 carries Executive Order (EO) number D-126-30 from California Air Resources Board (CARB), making it legal for installation in pre-OBD II (1996-and-earlier) vehicles in that state.

GRAND BLANC, MI – GM Performance Parts’ (GMPP) LSX Challenge Series heads to Atlanta Dragway (Commerce, Ga.), April 14-17, for the second of the four-race points race. And for the second race in a row, Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center is picking up the tab for the racer entry fee (up to $195 – including a one-year NMCA membership) for all LSX Challenge competitors.

The Atlanta race comes only a few weeks after the inaugural event at Bradenton, Fla., where the action included a nitrous-assisted 7.91 pass by Mike Meeks, driving his pro-style Firebird in the Drag Radial class, along with the winning performance of Mark Carlyle, who claimed the Drag Radial class trophy against Meeks in his street-driven, turbocharged Corvette Z06. It turned a best time of 8.19 seconds at more than 180 mph. The car is currently the quickest IRS Corvette in the country, with an all-time best ET of 8.15 at 173 mph. Carlyle believes the car will go faster and plans to prove it at the Atlanta race.

GMPP CATALOG COVER CAMAROS REVIVE THE COPO SPIRIT OF DEALER-BUILT SUPERCARS

Courtesy of GMPP

GRAND BLANC, Mich. – Dealership-created performance packages were an important part of Chevrolet’s muscle car heritage. Names like Yenko, Nickey, Berger and others helped drive high-performance options, while enhancing the mystique of one-off collectables decades later. In fact, it was creative ordering on the part of dealers that created the legendary COPO Camaros of the late 1960s – cars available from those enterprising dealers, but not offered in any official catalog or order guide.

More than 40 years later, a couple of dealers – DeNooyer Chevrolet in New York and Georgia’s NeSmith Chevrolet – have rekindled the concept of using Chevrolet’s own parts to create specialty Camaros that simply aren’t offered in regular production. DeNooyer used GM Performance Parts’ (GMPP) LSX454 crate engine (part number 19244611) to build a modern 454 engine for the Camaro SS, while NeSmith transplanted the supercharged LS9 engine from the Corvette ZR1 into their Camaro.
