WORSHAM BUILDS MOMENTUM IN EPPING

EPPING, NH – Two-time NHRA champion, Del Worsham, has officially left his first round losing streak in the dust, after making it to the second round for the second race in a row at the NHRA New England Nationals. Worsham moved into the Top Ten in points which if he can hold that position or improve would give the 2015 NHRA Funny Car champion the chance to race for another Mello Yello Funny Car title.

“It feels great. To finally have a car that’s going down the racetrack, and responding, and putting in some decent runs. It feels like this is where we want to be and we’re beginning to accomplish the things we set out to do when putting this car together this season,” said Worsham.

The 2015 NHRA Funny Car champion qualified twelfth, and beat the number five qualifier, Jack Beckman, in the first round. Unfortunately, Worsham lost to the eventual race winner Matt Hagan in the second round.

“I feel like even though we haven’t put down the quickest numbers out there, we have a very consistent race car and we’re taking advantage of the opportunities that are given to us right now. And as long as we keep doing that, and every now and then win one that maybe we shouldn’t, it’s pretty exciting, and it gives us a shot,” explained Worsham.

Worsham is hoping that the momentum that he has built off of this race and the Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals will propel him to do well in Englishtown, which is a race he has a strong history with.

“I have a lot of history at Englishtown. One of my first two wins was at Englishtown, and I’ve also been burned and hospitalized in Englishtown. I’ve spent a lot of time there. It’s one of the top tracks on the circuit, and it’s a fast track. I’ve won this race many times but I’ve also had some tough luck here. I’m looking forward to going back there and hopefully getting closer to the Winner’s Circle,” said Worsham.

Worsham returns to action for the NHRA Summernationals on June 8-11 at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, NJ.
