#Vote4Courtney: Advance Auto Parts driver Courtney Force needs fans’ help to defend Traxxas Shootout title

BROWNSBURG, IN – 2016 Traxxas Nitro Shootout winner Courtney Force needs NHRA fans’ help to get a chance to defend her title in the special event.

The Traxxas Shootout is a non-points-paying race for Top Fuel and Funny Car held in conjunction with the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis. Eight drivers compete for the $100,000 first prize in each category.

The first seven winners in Top Fuel and Funny Car are automatically entered, with the eighth advancing through a fan vote and lottery drawing.

Force, driver of the Advance Auto Parts Chevrolet Camaro SS Funny Car, has yet to win in 2017 and needs as many votes for her team to advance to the Traxxas Shootout. Fan voting began at the conclusion of the NHRA race in Brainerd, Minn., and ends Tuesday, Aug. 29 at 9 a.m. Eastern.

Fans can vote on NHRA’s Facebook page: http://bit.ly/2017TraxxasShootout.

A drawing will be held at the NHRA FanFest on Wednesday, Aug. 30 at Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. A drivers’ number of entries in the drawing is based on their percentage of fan votes, so the more votes a driver receives, the better chance they have of winning the drawing.

Force is one of three Funny Car drivers to compete in all five Traxxas Shootouts, winning in 2016 by beating John Force Racing teammate Robert Hight in the final round.

Force is an eight-time winner in NHRA, most among females in the Funny Car class. She has six No. 1 qualifiers in 2017, most among Funny Car drivers.
