Vegas Regional to Be a Battle for Ahten Racing and Others

Las Vegas, NV – The Regional race this weekend at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is unlike other Regional Johnny Ahtenraces. It just so happens last weekend was the Toyota Nationals and most teams have stuck around to try and qualify for an eight car field. All the heavy hitters will be there, and Johnny Ahten and the Island Renovations / Combust Filters dragster are ready to rumble.

“The Vegas Regional is our default all-star Top Alcohol race,” said Ahten. “The teams that raced the National event have a score to settle with the track, and fellow racers. Regional points are still in play and we all want to move up. The toughest part is the eight car field. We are going to have to make sure every qualifying run counts. That is why we are testing on Thursday. The Toyota Nationals didn’t quite go the way we wanted, but we are encouraged by the data,” added Ahten.

Adding to the pressure of the Regional race is the looming finals at Pomona. The last race of the year is just a week away and everyone wants to gain the advantage. Ahten is placing his bet on past performance in Vegas. The slight difference is the new chassis. The strong Al Ahten and Howard Katano tune-up is still there, and Johnny along with Bob Ahten, Kevin Colvell and Chuck Costabile know what they have to do. Keeping all the cylinders lit and maintaining traction is forefront. If those two things are adhered to, everything else should fall into place. Ahten Racing would like to once again thank Champion’s Steak & Seafood for their continued support.

Johnny Ahten will suit up in his armor (driving suit and helmet), climb aboard his noble steed (Stump Puller) and prepare for combat with Top Alcohol’s best on the Vegas theatre of war (dragstrip). The first winners will be the elite eight that make it into the show. The ultimate champion will win the race, and ride off towards the Pomona sunset.
