V. Gaines Making Trouble for the Competition at Maple Grove Raceway

For the forth weekend in a row V Gaines and his Kendall Motor Oil team are spending their weekend battling for position in the 2014 NHRA Mello Yello Countdown. With three races left in the season V finds himself in the number 9 spot.

“We made up a little ground last weekend by winning the first round, but came up a little short in round two”. V Gaines.

The Kendall Motor Oil team lost the closest race of the season to Dave Connolly by less than one inch or 0.0003, three ten thousands of a second. Traveling over 210 miles per hour it was impossible to see who won the race.

“I thought I had him from where I was sitting” V says with a smile

This weekends NHRA National event in Reading PA is always a fan favorite and a race teams dream. The weather and track have lead to many National Records in the past. “One word describes this place” Team member Gary tells us. He goes on to say…. “FAST”

At the Midwest Nationals last weekend the guys took a big step forward with the Avenger race car for the forth round of qualifying. Going into that session they were on the outside looking in.

“These guys have been through so much in the last 3-4 weeks” Gaines tells us. “The crash, the thrash, the driving, all of it”. “The fact that the guys will not give up and the way we made changes before Q4 just shows there is no quit in this team”.

The guys started last February calling this “Mean Teeth Tour 2014” and from where I sit….they are showing their teeth.
