V Gaines Lucas Oil Nationals Brainerd Int’l Raceway Pre-Race Report

V Gaines and his Kendall Motor Oil team had a much deserved break last weekend and have now made their way to the land of 10,000 lakes.

“We love what we do and everyday we are thankful for the opportunity to race” V Gaines. “I can tell you though… the Western Swing this year…well it just took a toll on us”, “Not in a bad way mind you” gaines.

The Kendall Motor Oil guys worked their tails off during the Western Swing and made some progress with the car. It has been a little hit or miss with the Kendall Motor Oil Dart as the guys are working on some new things. “Well our car is mostly red….it is a Mopar….sounds like a car from a movie” V says with a smile. “Acts like it too sometimes!” laughing as he finished.

Truth be known, V and the guys are very positive about the car and the program. Every time the Dart runs down the track it helps fill a gap in the data needed to complete the package. Strong owner, strong team, and amazing support is what bonds us all.

This weekends race brings another…let’s just say unique opportunity for V and the guys to spend some time with the fans at B.I.R. If you have never seen or heard about the area they call the Zoo at Brainerd you need to put this on your list of things to see. Words can not describe the Zoo!

The zoo really shows the world the passion NHRA fans have for our sport. Great people having a fun time while making all the racers feel welcome and special. “We once saw a sign that read; Please do not feed the animals” Crew member Rick tells us. “Then 2 minutes later we saw a guy eating the sign” Yikes!

As to not start any internet craziness….this IS NOT a picture of the guy Rick saw. Just sayin.

The guys are excited to hit the track this weekend with the Kendall Motor Oil Dart and put some good numbers up.
