V. Gaines at 4 Wide NHRA Nationals Zmax Dragway
Charlotte, NC – The NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series rolls into Charlotte, NC for the 5th race of the 2014 season. V Gaines
and his Kendall Motor Oil team have been working non stop since leaving the race in Vegas two weeks back.
“Vegas was one of those races…..we just never found the sweet spot with our car” V tells us. “We have a ton of friends, fans, and family in the Vegas area and I wish we had put on a better show for them. We have the horse power and we have a great car.”
Those of you that follow Drag Racing or motor sports in general have heard many times over the NHRA Pro Stock category is the tightest and closest class in all forms of racing. The amount of prep work that has to be done before, during, and after a race is simply amazing. Clyde, Gary, and Rick (The Kendall crew) have had the task of keeping the Kendall Motor Oil Avenger in race trim while trying to complete the teams new Pro Stock Dart.
“This is an amazing feat” V goes on to say. “We are a small team and the fact that the guys can keep our Avenger competitive and build a new car, speaks volumes about these guys”… “We are fighting for every thousand of a second on every run while other forms of racing get excited if two cars are within a second of each other….that would be like a mini vacation in Bali to us” V laughs as he talks. ” In all seriousness a big thank you to my guys” he continued.
Gaines is sitting number 4 in the 2014 Mello Yello points battle heading into the 4 Wides and is looking to make up some ground.
Those who have never seen the 4 Wide race….you need to watch. “It’s a crazy deal that words just cannot explain, it’s a must see event to get it” V.
TV Coverage will be on ESPN II or follow along with qualifying results on the V Gaines/Western Motorsports facebook page.
